What a fantastic attachment the two of them have! The stakes in this battle just keep getting bigger and bigger!

Whitebeard casually cracking the air around himself with a couple of punches never gets old.

Dertheaa

Just so you know. Marco's voice actor is same as Ichigo's in japan version.

Nika

White beard has the gura gura no mi the quake quake fruit he can make as many earthquakes and sea quakes that he seems fit

Aidan

Yeah even though he is a sick 70 something year old man, he can still crack the air as if it were nothing. He is considered to be the strongest man in the world. Hehehe let the battle begin.

His laugh is also styled after the name of his fruit. Gura ra ra ra ra.

Tyler

Old man Whitebeard. Breaking the tradition of bad anime fathers, despite not being related by blood.

GoldArthur

Whitebeard is the best old man in anime. May not be the most powerful, but he's definitely the best. Jiraiya is a close second, don't get me wrong, but Whitebeard is just peak, reliable authority figure. Wish he'd take me under his wing.

GoldArthur

What Marco said, "Because he calls us 'sons'. We are all hated by the world. It makes us happy. I know it's just a word, but it still makes us happy" This brings up an important point about Whitebeard, and, in fact, One Piece as a whole. Because many people don't feel like genuine outcasts, they can't understand fully, but, when you have no place to belong to or the world rejects you, having a group that truly accepts you for who you are, and I don't just mean a group of casual friends, I mean a group or person, that appreciates you for who you are with no judgement or secrets. That accepts even your your biggest faults; that's powerful. The level of commitment you will feel towards them is unspeakable. You'll find yourself motivated to improve yourself in ways you could never imagine, and not for yourself, either, but for them.

And continuing the tradition of good non blood related fathers like piccolo, jiraiya, all might, kite, and urokodaki

Mighty Snake

I also want to note that while Ace going after Blackbeard was bad for Ace thus far, it was very good for Luffy. If Ace had not been chasing after Blackbeard he wouldn't have saved Luffy in the alabasta arc from Smoker, Blackbeard would have gone after Luffy instead of Ace with Luffy likely being in the execution platform or prison instead, and because Luffy doesn't have the backing of someone as connected as whitebeard (we don't know for certain that dragon would have come, and we don't know know if Garp could have done anything) he probably would never have gotten out. Plus Luffy wouldn't have gotten to see ace at all which is sad in its own right.

Luffy comes from the whitebeard school of crew building. welcome to the crew, you don't get a choice and you will love me.

Miasimon

"They're really going to get to the emotions" Couldn't agree more. Hell, Ace and Whitebeard's backstory already almost had me tearing up. Definitely part of why Whitebeard is one of my top 3 favorite characters (tied with Sanji for #2 with Luffy at #1).

I disagree. He gave him a choice, after all. Luffy doesn't accept a "No" :D Whitebeard just offered Ace a position among his crew and some adjustment time, but he could have easily refused. (SPOILER) Luffy's more like Roger that way.

Jcw490

Marco hyppppppe!!

Miklar Sihn

Just to be fair on Whitebeard taking down Ace and his crew after the 5 day fight. If Whitebeard could probably not just have beaten Ace and Jimbei consequitively, but together. So it was a fairly insignificant difference for him. This is also shown fairly well by Whitebeard beating down Ace, while Whitebeard sleeps.

Miklar Sihn

I love how a lot of these badass pirates dont look all that badass, it is one of the most realistic things in this show.

Cetacean Needed

This episode gives an inkling of why Whitebeard is not to be fucked with generally.

DevilJynx

Random Marine 653456: Whitebeard.. He brings a storm with him everywhere he goes. Sengoku: No, He is The Storm.

Garp probably would have stopped it. Luffy hadn't been a pirate that long yet, and he also had a record of taking out wanted pirates. On top of which, executing Dragon's son doesn't quite have the same significance of executing Roger's son.
