As I mentioned, I had no idea what to expect from Higurashi... Now that I've seen episode 1, I am delightfully freaked out!

Uh oh.... Higurashi..... First time I saw this, I was very much not prepared.... My vergin eyes were assaulted....

I remember watching a torture scene of this on YouTube, the memories i locked away and forgot have been uncovered again. Lol

There was a short after credit scene you missed. If more episodes are gonna get sponsored you should probably watch that. Maybe in the next video.

I spent all last week watching the first two seasons to catch up to this “remake” Prepared to be freaked

I purposely didn’t tell him anything to allow himself to be prepared for this, I’m sponsoring this whole series if nobody else helps me with them. This is gunna be one Hell of a ride.

Yeah, Mion did have a shoulder holster. No need to read too much into that... Also, I just wanna say that the theme for Higurashi is one of my all time favorites. It's not nearly a good as some other, but whenever I hear it, I just get chills and a sensation like someone is watching me. INCREDIBLY suitable for the anime.

I love this series, it was one of the anime I seen and it’s one the golden oldies for me. Can’t wait till he sees the grand finale.

I saw this when I was about 12 or 13 years old, I was definitely not prepared. The construction of a dam would be a very big deal in Japan. Especially back in 1980s, real estate is always hard to come by when you consider the population to area ratio. Also yes you are right, Mion (the girl with the Green hair and club leader) is wearing a shoulder holster. The gun is a either an air-soft gun or a non-functioning toy I can't remember which. P.S. I am so hyped that they used the original opening theme in this episode. That theme had a huge part in creating the creepy atmosphere. Not using it would've been criminal.

Oh word fuck this series, I love it but it had my middle school brain confused for a couple of episodes

Maybe the reason the green-haired girl has a gun is because everyone else in this town is constantly trying to murder, or at least injure, each other. Maybe when you move in they're like "welcome to our town, here are your keys and also a gun, good luck."

Kinda disappointed it's not the old version but oh well :)

No, Mion belongs to a Yakuza family. That's why she's packing lol.

So, I've been putting off watching the new series mostly due to lack of time, but given Curtis watched it, I made some time. Quick question to everyone else who's seen the older series. How are we feeling about the first two minutes of episode two? On the one hand, knowing about that from jump will probably make it a bit easier for Curtis to get what's going on, but on the other, it just kinda feels wrong to casually bring up the biggest twist in the series.

Oh this first episode is almost exactly like how I remember the original's first episode, the main difference is the artstyle is brighter and cleaner (the original was from 2006). It's cool that the voice actors are reprising their roles and the old music is being used so it feels very familiar. Higurashi was one of the earliest animes I binge watched through because it had so much suspense, intrigue and "WTF!?" moments.

I would have loved to see this series as one of the daily shows, because the story is so... let's call it "complex", that it's hard to follow. Even if you watch one episode per day. Also, personally I would have liked a reaction to the original series, since this new "version" of it is not a remake as far as I've read. But all that aside, I'm still looking forward to every episode of it once a month. ;)
