DAMN! I certainly didn't see Thors' death coming! And holy shit, Thorfinn's expression was terrifying!

And thus, Guts 2.0 was born!

J Johnson

If you thought this was surprising, just wait till you finish the series. I'll bet your favorite character isn't who you think it will be hehe.

Miklar Sihn

I love how much he goes above and beyond. Throwing a guy off the boat, then throwing him an oar to keep him afloat.

I’m curious to see which character will be his favorite out of the 2 (you guys know which 2).

Hexigoon

It was at this point I realized that this show would be going into top 10 favorite anime territory by the end of it. (It did, top 5 even).

WHOLESOME DEUS

Now we got baby Guts out here. Saxons beware

Miklar Sihn

He also showed something about his definition of a real warrior. Killing nobody by using his fists and seeing the ultimate being a position where your sword is useless to you... That is an alternate and even somewhat modern way to define a warrior. To him, being a warrior is about stopping the fighting and removing the need to fight with no deaths.

V_VMat

Now where have I seen a scene like this before...

Tpoints

Yeah this show is amazingly well executed and hard-hitting without ever having to go over the top with anime tropes. It's the cold realism that makes it so good

Daniel Gonzalez

Yup this scene its too bad you were an awesome dude and we barely knew you Thors but now hes gone

Tyler

And thus beings the story of Thorfinn, son of Thors.

Phillip Ribbink

So interesting fact as cool as the concept of berserkers and berserker mushrooms are, turns out they're largely a modern misinterpretation. Berserker just means someone who wears a bearskin. A tradition where professional duellists or champions of Viking chieftains would wear a bearskin to identify themselves. Somehow this got conflated with another story where warriors would go mad, gnaw on their shields and charge into large masses of enemies cutting them to ribbons. Hence the idea of the berserker was born. It's still cool seeing Bjorn go nuts and beat the shit out of his own guys though.

Ruben

Askeladds' name is pronounced ASH-LADD

Kamil

Whole Askeladd vs Thors is poetry.

Haxxy

Not sure if someone might've already mentioned it but Askeladd's VA is the same as Madara's in Shippuden subbed.

Nika

Best girl is on her way and I'm ready

Gigamac24

Yeah the mushroom thing is something vikings used to actually do. They dosed themselves with large amounts of magic mushrooms and apparently stripped naked and ran wild killing people which is where the term Berserker came from. A Very similar strategy to the one used by the homeless in LA exept rather than murder people they simply shit in the streets.

Nevermind I just watched the episode and it essentially explained everything I said lol

Garlic

Yeah my hate boner for Bjorn was rock hard the first time I saw this.
