Okay, this guy is definitely pervy, but he's also interesting and obviously really badass!

Alright I'm excited you started this. Honestly because of the poll you had a few months back where this anime was one of the picks, dunno if it was for the next anime to watch or I think it was one where someone wanted to sponsor a video and this was on the list, but after reading the comments on that poll I decided to give it a try and I instantly fell in love with the manga. Completed the whole series. So the old one where he was a teenager in high-school, to all the spinoff and to most recently the sequel. So I'm real happy and excited your starting this

Omigosh! I was not expecting GTO!!! This is among the old great ones, with Bebop and Trigun...

I so wanted to sponsor this series already back in 2019, but I don't have money for something like that 😢 So glad it's on lineup now 😀

For some reason I thought you'd already seen Onizuka! This show is right up your alley. I think you'll really like it!

I actually prefer dub for this series, mostly because Onizuka's VA is just GREAT! (See what I did there?) But the rest of the cast is ok too, so it doesn't take away from experience... What does take away however is how some jokes are "lost in translation" /in censorship... Onizuka's english voice is by Steven Blum (Orochimaru/Zabuza/Spike...) while his Japanese VA Wataru Takagi voices characters like Bleach;Ganju, Detective Conan;Genta/Takagi, Dorohedoro;Kaiman, Ippo;Aoki Masaru, Naruto;Iruka/Tobi/Obito, One Piece;Bellamy/VanderdeckenIX, Ryuji in dub is voiced by Kirk Thornton (Roshi from DB Super, Kisame(Sharkboy/daywalker) [I remembered there would be more roles you would recognize, but didn't see them?] Onizuka is 22 (or 23) currently, he was just imagining what it would be like to be 40-yo teacher and have 16-yo student girlfriend like the other guy said...

Oh damn, this is a classic. Great series, probably good watching material for anyone who is thinking of becoming a teacher as well, in terms of how difficult it can be to be a teacher.

PLEASE CONSIDER IT DUB! im susrprised that this one is sub considering how we watch dubbed shows when the dub is good typically

Great pick Curtis :)

I am so happy you're reacting to GTO! Not only is it a great show, but it's the show that lead me to my favorite slice of life genre. Onizuka, in the 1998 live action drama, is played by an actor/singer known as Takashi Sorimachi, whom played Furiya Enzo in the 2003 live action drama of Hotman. That character is my inspiration for my name and is the guy in my profile picture. Only thing that keeps me from sponsoring it is that there's no legal place to stream it with good quality. Maybe sponsor the manga.. hmm. I'll introduce you to Hotman sooner or later.. hold me to my word!

I advocate for Online Home Schooling. One of the major issues with Public School, is the time you spend learning. Learning through online schools like Freedom Project Academy, allows for children to schedule better and free up time for healthier social interactions. For Example: 1. Boy / Girl Scouts 2. Church 3. Sports 4. Volunteer Groups You can also ensure a healthy diet and exercise schedule. All of which will help them develop in a healthy way to prepare them for adulthood.

I respect the sub or dub decision. Like there are a few characters that sound like cheap porn (although a lot of anime from this time sounds like cheap porn) but at the same time I like a lot of the dub cast

Hi O'laverly

Ahhh, This series is slightly difficult to get into at first. But it gets better, just hang tight. As for what Onizuka is doing and the amount of trouble he could get into... A lot. Age of consent in Japan is 18, only exception being a special exception for marriage around the age of 16, for women, and 18 for guys. Even if that were not the case, it's definitely seen as sleazy and unprofessional. So, yea, he's being a creep. Keep following the series, it gets better as it goes and the characters grow on you.

CrossZ

The interesting thing about Onizuka is that it's a sequel to a manga about him and his friend when they were high school delinquents. But the sequel got way more popular that hardly anyone ever talks about the first manga anymore

The cheap porn VAs are the best part. Kinda like Golden Boy's dub
