I'd heard a lot about Jar-Jar, but I wanted to make my own opinion... Yea, so far anyway, I kinda want to punch him!

The funny thing, is he's actually shown in a better light in the Clone Wars TV series than the movies. Here he actually accomplished something useful (in a clumsy and dumb way) while in the movies he's purely there for slapstick comedy, while contributing nothing useful (and avoiding spoiler details, actually helps trigger a massive negative event).

Jar Jar Binks is one of the greatest characters in all of Star Wars. He was there to witness the birth of Darth Plagueis the Wise and was the one to influence Palpatine in executing Order 69. His balls take up the weight of two Death Stars!

because of these reactions I'm finally watching this show all the way thru. I decided to go back and watch the first two prequel movies just to get some context. There were so many opportunities during the phantom menace for Jar Jar to die. All of which he narrowly avoided. It was as if the movie was trying to tell me "You thought you could get rid of him that easily you fool! Jar Jar will never die! Your stuck with him!" It was truly painful. It's the way he moves in those movies that I found really upsetting. whatever they where going for it just didn't work. "Jar Jar is the key to all of this"- actual George Lucas quote because for some reason he thought that this guy was going to be a hilarious fan favorite.

WHOLESOME DEUS

Watching him clumsily make it is annoying. Anyone else would have caught a blaster bolt to the face by now 😅. There’s a non cannon comic of his parents being stranded on a remote island on some planet, all hope is lost and Jar Jars father is gonna commit suicide, Jar Jars mother try’s to stop him by telling him to think of their son and the dad with no second thought just pulls the trigger. He failed of course but I just found that funny.

like I said before, I don't hate Jar Jar, he's just kind of bleh comedy relief, everyone fully acknowledges he's kind of an idiot and a screw up. He was actually banished under penalty of death from his home city. Then Obi-Wan and his master Qui-Gon found him and he eventually became a representative in the senate.

aww come on now jar jar ain't so bad... (inhales copium)

Agreed. I don't hate him, either, but he swings and misses on most of his comedy relief for me.

I was prepared to buck the trend and find that I actually liked him, but that definitely didn't happen! 😂

There was one comic were Jar Jar was somehow a badass. But then it was underwater so his swimming abilities are probably more competent than his land abilities. Another had him strand his family on a deserted island because of his clumsy handling a the ship. His incompetence and clumsiness ended up driving his father to try to blow his own brains out....and Jar Jar even fucked that up walking into his father, having the shot just barely miss and singe the top of his head.

Here's something, the Separatists (Barring Dooku, Ventres, Grevious and Nute Gunray and his allies) are actually technically the good guys just trying to maintain their sovereignty from the Republic. The Sith and Corpos like Gunray hijacked the movement for their own power and wealth. This is example of neutral worlds joining the CIS.

I understand why Jar Jar exists. George Lucas just says there are a group of people online that get very opinionated that Star Wars is supposed to be action and tuff like Terminator. They had a problem with R2-D2 and C-3PO in the first movie.

or it's another clue as to the fact that jarajar was indeed originally meant to be a much more important character; the titular phantom menance, a character hiding in plane sight yet ignored by everyone, who is secretly manipulating everyone from behind the scenes, while pretending to be nothing more than a clumsy fool to throw people of his trail. darth jarjar confirmed!!!! 😉

It's been a hot minute since I have been on your patreon, still been getting my self settle since I became my own boss. Now that I have had some free time it's great that the Star Wars Clone Wars was picked, I absolutely love it. I also see you have started Fairy Tail another amazing anime. Though the Galuna Island arch is not one of my favorites, it's not bad and I enjoyed watching the first few times. But I have seen Fairy Tail over 30 times, so I kind of skip my least favorite arch's. Once your past it I will definitely start watching along though. That being said hope you are doing well and can't wait to see more reactions.
