sooo, i think this episode is pretty much universally regarded as THE worst episode of the entire show, if not the franchise as a whole, and was even excluded from re-runs, back when the show was still on tv, and it's easy to see why. with the very on the nose writing, the racial and cultural stereotypes on display and it requiring a healthy dose of suspension of disbelief regarding the teams actions and reactions to the situation, it's not a very well constructed episode. it's only somewhat redeeming qualitiy is that it comes this early in the show's history, so you can sorta make excuse for writers in regards to the usual early growing pains any show goes through, where the writers haven't fully figured out everything yet and are still very much experimenting with the show's formular and the team's personalities.

It's not that different from a lot media these days but it has the excuse of being from the 90's from a show that has yet to establish itself. "on the nose" though is a very fair description XD

Andy Plays All Night

I don't know how I didn't put it together at the time that the actor that played Turghan (the chieftan Carter beat) also played Shang Tsung in the 90s Mortal Kombat movie. Also, "What is an Oprah?" 🤣
