Hey everyone! Just to let you know that I am going to be writing a book :)

Harper-Collins have agreed to publish it so I am able to give up one of my jobs to do it. Unfortunately this is not my full-time job at LSE, but in any case it should free up some time. Attached is the proposal including chapter outlines and most importantly, a sample chapter about Money that I thought you'd all enjoy reading.

Everything from the title to the chapter topics to the content will likely change a lot now that the book is going ahead. Appreciate any feedback, especially on the content of the sample chapter.

Dr Jennifer Burgess

Yay congrats on all your big reveals!! I've been catching up and enjoying all of them, Value video is great. Really liked the Money chapter it was a good mix of narrative explanation and a little technical detail. Only change to suggest is a medical one; it was not what I had read that David Graeber (RIP) died from covid so I did check, he died from pancreatitis and whilst his wife thinks this was secondary to covid (and there are some case reports and she could be right) there are much more common causes like gallstones. I do think there does have to be a chapter on inequality but if you're a lefty then it's likely you already own about 10 books on inequality (and people keep buying them for you because they know you're interested but there are diminishing marginal returns) so I think I'd keep that part more concise.

Thanks Jen, hope you're well! Thanks for the correction - in any case, I think I'll just take the part about Graeber dying out, it's superfluous. Inequality will feature for sure but hopefully I'll have something original to say about it :)

Congratulations! As a new patreon (and someone who doesn't know a ton about economics), I definitely had to read the chapter carefully and appreciated the time you took to explain different concepts. Good luck with the rest of the book!
