Peak 👍 Are you gonna watch the break times?

Liliwyn

Not at all-- I watch the entirety of it! And, like, watching the first episode next, as usual, to then do the draft live around thanksgiving would be hype AF. Genuinely some of the most entertaining stuff for Re:Zero I've yet seen has been these reactions, and that's from someone who, uh... has reached page 10 on searching for Re:Zero reactions, and read untranslated side stories and web novel stuff and interviews and fan books and also maybe watched the show 82 times, but who's counting...? Bit of a fangirl, to say the least, lol. ^^; Really, though, my day is perfect and my excitement is immeasurable, whenever these drop! Also. This is not explicitly stated, so it's not a spoiler, but clarification... IT'S TIMESKIP TIME, BABY! This is the second timeskip in which there are side stories, with the first being about a month skipped between Arc 2 and Arc 3 (before the return to the capital in Season 1, after the mabeast incident in Arlam Village, which is when the OVAs take place). The timeskip between Arc 4 (S2) and Arc 5 (S3) is about a YEAR, however! Quite a few side stories take place during that time, but it's worth noting that Subaru does not die even once in that timeframe. I will also mention that Subaru's gate *did* break after his last Shamac against Garfiel, which means he'd slowly die of mana poisoning if not for ending up in a contract with Beatrice. Also, fun magic stuff that's never really explained: "Shamac" has a function of *separation*, rather than illusion: it quite literally separates someone from sensory input. Magic is shown to have four levels. Huma, for example, the ice spells, has Huma, El Huma, Ul Huma, and Al Huma. We saw El Minya, here, from Beatrice and Subaru, and then... Al Shamac. Which is also separation... of *everything*. From reality. So that's pretty neat. Regardless! While you can always count on something messed up happening with Re:Zero, the author understands the assignment about how important CATHARSIS is, and letting us get a WIN, FFS. None of this "rush to throw more trauma at us the instant things are almost resolved just to avoid having to let characters actually interact" BS. I mean, FFS, we got a *confession* in the first season and a *kiss* in the second. I can't think of many *romance* anime that manage as much, tbh. Because most other anime throws on the brakes way before *either* could ever happen, so Re:Zero really just charts its own path. Especially with it *not* being brainless haremslop like quite a few other shovelware isekai who wouldn't know character development if it beat them to death. I forget what I was even trying to say. Too excited. I'd comment on specific bits of commentary I loved, but honestly it's just... all of it. The fact that you notice things like the realization of "wait, so Emilia was responding to 'if you don't want this, dodge' with the mindset of a *baby*??", and the understanding of how important Subaru's knighthood being full-circle with the trip to the capital, and the sheer appreciation for how NICE it is to get a W like this, on top of all the cool theories and hilarious stuff like "yo, the mabeasts just LEAVE when Reinhardt's around." Genuinely just the best, and I cannot wait for y'all to see the continued madness unfold! ^-^

The end of the reaction wasn't "Who's Rem?" but a "Where's Gabe?"

Julio Castillo

"The start of the next episode is gonna be horrible, horrible madness..." "IM ON MY PHONE" That was great Comedic Timing, Gabe should make that his catchphrase xdddd.

That's the power of Re:Zero's storytelling. The highs of happiness hit harder cos we worked so hard to earn it. Especially after the long stretches of suffering and despair. This season's ending hits harder because we've gone through an entire season of character development. Subaru has earned his right to be Emilia's Knight. Emilia stands proud and confident among the people after undergoing the hardships of the trials (confronting her past). Its definitely gonna be a different vibe when we return to the capital. The Emilia camp (specifically Subaru) has the slaying of two great mabeasts and a Sin Archbishop on their resume. He's probably gonna be seen as a messiah that somehow works miracles that should be impossible 😂 "Isn't this the guy who humiliated himself front of everyone and got his ass kicked by Julius in the Royal Capital?" Remember, that episode was locked in the timeline. It wasn't overwritten by the save points. This just makes Subaru's heros journey even better.

You should watch the break times they give extra lore and context, and are canon side stories.

I would say you guys are good to watch S3 OP/ED after Episode 2
