James/Jenny TF # 5

On a large number of infinite Earths spread out among the multiverse, there lives a ten-year-old boy named James. That boy believes that he is unique and that there is nobody else exactly like him. He would be surprised to find out that he has an exact double on an extremely large number of parallel Earths that exist throughout the dimensions. Not too long ago one of them went on an interdimensional journey with his two friends, Dirk and Jonathon. During the course of one of their trips James got transformed into a girl named Jenny. And even worse than that was the fact that nobody remembered that he had once been a boy. Very soon even he forgot that he had ever been a boy. Shortly after that event  strange things were happening to James' doppelgangers in alternate dimensions. One by one each James was mysteriously getting transformed into a girl named Jenny. This is the tale of one of those unfortunate lads.

James was very excited as he rushed to the comic book store as fast as he was able. He didn’t want to miss out on his chance of meeting the artist who drew his favorite comic book Mighty Boy. He was doubly excited because anyone who came to the store in costume would be entered into a contest with the first prize being a mint copy of Mighty Boy comic # 1 and a free sketch of Mighty Boy by the artist. He hoped that his chances of winning would be better than everyone else because he was wearing an official Mighty Boy costume that he had gotten for his birthday.

He could feel the warm summer air blowing against his bare legs as he dashed around the corner. The costume was a very snug fit and it wasn’t like the clothes he normally wore, but this was how it looked on Mighty Boy when he first appeared in the comics. He gave a little tug on the bottom of the costume when he got to the front of the store.

“Gee, I don’t know how Mighty Boy can wear such a tight fitting costume. It keeps trying to ride up my butt.”

When he entered the store he surveyed the area and noticed that about half of the kids were dressed as superheroes. A few were dressed as villains and one young girl was dressed as a princess. He smirked when he saw her. It seemed like girls were always finding an excuse to go somewhere dressed as a princess.

“Well I only see two other kids wearing the same costume as me but I think that mine is definitely much better than theirs. Their costumes look like they are home made while mine was bought at the store.”

He smiled when he noticed that he was getting a few admiring gazes from some of the other people in the room.

“I bet I have the best outfit here. I’m sure to win.”

His spirits began to drop a little when he noticed a boy step into the store. The boy’s blonde hair was somewhat longer than his but that wasn’t what caught his attention. This boy was also wearing a Mighty Boy costume but it was somewhat different from the one that he had on. It was easy to see that this was the current day version of the costume because his legs weren’t exposed and it also came with a red cape. It looked to be a store bought one too which was strange because he hadn’t heard that they had come out with a Mighty Boy costume based on his new uniform. The boy smirked as he approached him.

“Oh I see there is another Mighty Boy fan in the store,” he said.

“Yeah, Mighty Boy is my favorite superhero,” James said proudly as he did a heroic stance and raised his right fist into the air.

“Well I’ve never been a fan of that costume,” the boy replied. “It looks too much like a girl’s swimsuit.”

“What?” James exclaimed. “No it doesn’t. It’s a superhero costume.”

“If you say so. But if I were you I would feel totally embarrassed. All you have to do is remove the collar and you would be wearing a girl’s swimsuit. Hey, why don’t you give it a try. Maybe you can find a nice boy to be your boyfriend.”

“I don’t want a boyfriend. Stop teasing me.”

“Okay, okay. I guess your costume isn’t all that bad after all. Just think, if you don’t win today you can always add a short red cape and a little blue skirt to it and you can come back as Mighty Girl.”

He started to laugh as he walked away.

James looked down at his Mighty Boy costume and after hearing what the boy had to say about it he started to see his costume in a whole new light.

“Gee, I never thought of it before but what he said is kind of true. If I added a cape and skirt to this costume it would look exactly like a Mighty Girl costume. And as it is right now it does look a lot like a girl’s swimsuit. I kinda feel a little embarrassed being seen in it. Maybe I should just go home.”

But just as he was about to head to the door a man stood on top of a table and began to address the crowd. He said that it was time to announce the winners of the costume contest. James slowly started to make his way to the back of the group as the rest of the kids moved forward. A girl dressed in a Super Poodle costume won third prize. Her skintight costume was white with pink tufts on the wrist, ankles and at the end of the tail. The girl had even dyed her hair pink to match the tufts of fur. James had to laugh when he saw her.

“I can’t believe that Super Poodle won third prize. That is another lame comic book for girls. I can’t think of any boy who would read a comic about a boy who transforms into a girl poodle with pink fur and super powers. How silly is that? A boy turning into a girl.”

He continued watching as second prize went to the boy in the other Mighty Boy costume that had been teasing him. James was just about to open the door and go outside when they announced that he had won the grand prize. He wasn’t sure he heard him correctly and he just stood there for a moment unable to move. Then the man said it again and James made his way to the front of the group to collect his prize.

The first thing he received was the rare Mighty Boy comic book. It was the first issue that showed Mighty Man on the cover introducing Mighty Boy to the readers. The next thing he received was a special drawing by the artist that was there. He drew a very nice illustration of James in his Mighty Boy costume.

Grabbing both of his prizes he dashed out of the building. He couldn’t wait to show his mother what he had won. But as he stepped outside he had to stop as everything around him started to waver and spin. A few seconds later it stopped and he started to walk down the street.

“I wonder what that was. If felt like the whole world was spinning around me at a very fast pace. I’m glad that it’s over now. Gee, I can’t wait for mom to see all the neat stuff I won. I told her that this costume would help me win first place.”

He had already walked a couple of blocks from the comic book store when he noticed his reflection in a nearby window. He stopped and stared in shock when he saw himself wearing a Mighty Girl costume.

“What the…?  Why am I wearing a Mighty Girl costume? What happened to my Mighty Boy one?”

He reached behind and tugged on the short red cape that wasn’t there before.

“It’s definitely real.”

Then he reached down and felt the short blue skirt.

“This feels real too. And it is attached to the costume.”

He lifted up the skirt and was horrified when he saw that he had on a pair of blue panties underneath.

“What happened to the bottom part of my costume? It’s not there anymore. The only things down there are a skirt and blue panties. Why am I wearing girls’ underwear?”

He nervously began to look around.

“I can’t have anyone see me dressed like this. If anyone from school sees me dressed in a girl’s costume they will never stop teasing me about it. This is so embarrassing.”

He started to run as fast as he could. His cape flapped behind him as he dashed down the street. A few times a gust of wind blew his skirt up and he had to reach down to pull it back down again.

“Stupid skirt.”

When he got home he opened the door and quickly ran inside. He closed the door and leaned against it as he tried to catch his breath. His mother stepped out of the living room and smiled when she saw him.

“Oh good, you’re home. That didn’t take as long as you said it would. So how did everything go dear? Did you have a nice time?”

“Mom, look what happened to my costume?’

She gave him a puzzled look.

“I don’t see anything wrong with it. What am I supposed to be seeing?”

“It’s a Mighty Girl costume!” he said excitedly.

“Yes, I know. That’s the one that you wanted me to order for you. You look very cute in it. Did you win any prizes?”

“Well yes, I won first prize but that…”

“Oh first prize. That’s wonderful,” she said as she kissed him on the cheek. “When you told me that you wanted to go as your favorite superhero Mighty Girl I didn’t think it was a good idea. But I’m glad that you insisted. It sounds like everyone liked you in your costume.”

“But mom, I’m wearing a girl’s costume!”

“Yes, I know, that’s why she is called Mighty Girl. I understand. But you are the one who insisted that I buy you that costume. Now why don’t you go upstairs and change. You have to get ready for practice.”

He looked up at the clock.

“Oh, is that the time already? I didn’t realize that it was so late. Yes, I do need to get ready.”

He wanted to ask her more questions but he had to get ready for baseball practice. As he headed to his room he glanced down at his costume.

“I still don’t understand how my costume changed into this. And why does mom think that I asked her to buy it for me? I would never ask her to buy me a girl’s costume.”

Once he entered the room the first thing he did was place his rare comic book and new illustration on his nightstand on top of some Mighty Man comics. He was in such a hurry to get undressed that he didn’t even look at them when he put them down. Then he took off the Mighty Girl costume and placed it on his bed.

“Thank goodness, now to change into normal boy underwear.”

He walked over to his bureau and opened his underwear drawer but he was in for a big surprise when he looked inside.

“Hey what’s going on here? Where did all my underwear go? There’s nothing but colorful girl panties in here.”

He reached in and pulled out several panties in various colors.

“Is someone playing a joke on me?”

He thought about it but then he shook his head.

“No, that can’t be it. That wouldn’t explain how my costume changed while I was wearing it. And it did change. I know I wasn’t wearing a Mighty Girl outfit when I went in there.”

He closed the drawer and then opened the next one which held his baseball uniform. But just like the last drawer this one contained something totally unexpected. Instead of finding his uniform the only things in the drawer were various pieces of colorful clothing. He took two of them out and saw that he was holding an orange leotard and yellow tights. He rummaged through the drawer some more but all he saw were tights and leotards in a large variety of colors. Then he spotted a bright green item and when he grabbed that he saw that it was a long bright green outfit with black accents.

“What is this? A unitard? Where did all these strange things come from?”

As he continued to stare inside the drawer his oldest brother Noah stepped into the room.

“Hey, what’s taking you so long. Mom said that if I wanted to borrow the car that I had to drive you to practice. So hurry up and get ready for it.”

James wasn’t expecting anyone to come into his room and he was suddenly very embarrassed to be seen in nothing but blue panties.

“Hey, what are you doing here? You can’t see me dressed like this.”

“What are you so upset about,” Noah said. “It’s not the first time I’ve ever seen you in your underwear.”

“Yeah, but this isn’t my underwear.”

“Looks like the kind of underwear you usually wear.”

“Okay, fine, forget about my underwear. But take a look at this. Look what I found in my drawer!” James said as he held up the bright green unitard.

Noah sighed and shook his head.

“Well what did you think you were going to find in that drawer? That’s the drawer where you’ve always kept your ballet clothes. Now hurry up and get changed so I can take you to your ballet practice.”

“Ballet practice? But… but I don’t take ballet. I play on my school’s baseball team.”

His brother burst out laughing. When he was done he had a huge grin on his face.

“Yeah right. I’ve never once seen you attend a baseball game. I can’t imagine you ever playing baseball. You’ve been taking ballet ever since you were five.”

He raised his hand and ruffled James’ hair.

“Now stop joking around and put on your ballet clothes so I can take you to class.”

“But…”

“No buts about it. Now hurry up and get changed. I don’t have time for anymore of your jokes.”

He turned around and stormed out of the room leaving James alone as he looked in confusion at the unfamiliar attire in his hands.

“Why did he say that I’ve been taking ballet for years? I’ve never taken ballet. I don’t know the first thing about it.”

As he said this he noticed the framed photos that were on top of his dresser. In the past they had always been pictures of him taken at different baseball games. But now the pictures were different. Instead of him playing baseball in his uniform the photos were him in different colorful outfits. And he was dancing with a variety of girls who were also dressed in similar types of outfits. He picked one up and looked at it more closely.

“That is me in this picture. But I look a little younger. I can’t be more than seven. And I’m wearing a unitard in this photo but it’s a purple one.”

He gave a closer look at all of the photos.

“These are all pictures of me taken at different ages. And I’m dancing in each one. This one has me leaping in the air. But this isn’t possible. I’m not a dancer. I’m a ballplayer. What happened to all my baseball stuff?”

He put the photo back on the dresser when he heard the car horn blowing in the driveway.

“Uh oh, he’s blowing the horn. He’s getting angry now. Well I don’t understand what is going on but I guess I had better put on these clothes and get out there before he gets even angrier.”

He quickly grabbed the green and black unitard and put it on. It was an extremely snug fit. He found a pair of black ballet slippers which he grabbed. Before leaving his room he turned and looked at himself in the mirror.

“Oh crap, just look at me. If the guys on the team ever saw me dressed like this I would never hear the end of it.”

He heard the car horn again and he quickly ran out of his room and headed outside to the driveway. He opened the door and got into the passenger seat.

“About time you made it out here,” Noah grumbled as the car quickly backed out of the driveway.

James secured the seatbelt in place as his brother started to drive down the street.

“Why did you have to rush me like that?” he asked. “I feel like I’ve forgotten something.”

“Well that’s not my problem,” Noah replied. “You would probably be on time more often if you didn’t spend so much time deciding what outfit to wear.”

“I don’t do that,” he replied.

“Yeah right. Now I only promised mom that I would drive you to your ballet class. I didn’t promise anything about being there to pick you up and bring you home. You will have to walk home when you’re done.”

“Okay, well I guess that shouldn’t be too bad.”

As he said this he looked down at his attire.

“Wait a minute. I can’t walk home dressed like this. Now I know what I forgot. I didn’t bring a change of clothes with me.”

“Well that is your tough luck. You’ll just have to walk home in the clothes you’ve got on.”

“I can’t do that. Maybe I can give you a call when I’m done. Maybe you won’t be busy then.”

He reached down to pull his phone out of his pocket but then he became more worried when he couldn’t find it.

“Wait, I don’t have any pockets in this outfit. I don’t have my phone on me. I must have left it back in my room.”

“I didn’t think your teacher allowed you to bring your phone to class. That’s what you’ve always told me.”

Before James could respond the car came to a stop in front of a building with a sign above the door that read “Heartsville Academy of Dance.”

“Okay, get out. I’ve got places to go.”

James had barely gotten out when his brother hit the gas and the car sped down the road. He frowned as he looked at the sign above the door.

“Academy of dance? I’ve never been to this place before in my life but something about it feels familiar.”

He went inside the building and instinctively walked down the hall towards a room where he could hear music playing inside. When he entered the room he saw that the walls were covered with large mirrors and against one of the walls were about a dozen girls all wearing different colored tights and leotards. They were all bending and stretching next to a long pole that was mounted on the wall. As he looked in their direction he noticed that none of them looked familiar. But since he didn’t normally spend much time with girls that wasn’t very unusual. He noticed that a girl in a purple leotard and tights was waving for him to come over. Instinctively he took off his sneakers and put on the ballet slippers before he walked over to her. He still felt a little embarrassed about how he was dressed and so he walked very slowly.

“Hi Jimmy,” she said as he finally approached her.

Even though he didn’t recognize her she seemed to know him. But what he found even stranger was what he replied to her.

“Hi Kira, sorry I’m late.”

He just called her Kira. He couldn’t remember ever meeting her before but somehow he knew what her name was. As he looked at the other nearby girls he found that he suddenly knew what all of their names were.

“You seem to be a little distracted today,” Kira responded. “Is something the matter?”

Yes, something was the matter but he knew that he couldn’t tell her about it. He didn’t even believe any of it and it was happening to him. So how could he get anyone to believe him when he told them that his life was suddenly different.

“Uh yeah, a little. My brother dropped me off but he said that I have to walk home after class. And I forgot to bring a change of clothes with me.”

“Oh so you have to walk home in your ballet clothes,” she said. “Well at least it won’t be the first time that ever happened.”

“You mean I’ve walked home in these clothes before?”

“Well not those clothes exactly,” she said. “I think the last time it happened you were wearing your red leotard and green tights.”

“Red leotard and green tights?”

“Yes, it was around the time of our Christmas recital. You were the elf prince in the production.”

James had no recollection of that ever happening. But Kira seemed to believe that it did. He still couldn’t understand what was going on. Had his world mysteriously changed or was he in some strange alternate reality?

She pointed to a picture on a wall filled with framed photos.

“It happened the day before they took that picture of you.”

He looked at the photo and it was a picture of him smiling and wearing a red leotard and green tights. He had on pointed ears and he looked like one of Santa’s elves. He felt very embarrassed as he looked at the picture.

“Oh uh yeah, who could forget that uhm day,” he said.

Before he could say anything else a slender woman stepped into the room. By the way she was dressed and the graceful way that she walked it was easy to tell that she was the instructor.

“Okay class today we will rehearse for our upcoming recital.”

She turned and looked directly at him.

“Now Jimmy, I know that you always get the lead male role in our productions but today we have a new student attending our dance academy and he has expressed an interest in taking on that role. So I will be evaluating you both on your performances in class.”

He still couldn’t understand why everyone thought he had been attending this class for a long time. As far as he was concerned this was his first day of ballet and there was no way that he was good enough to outperform anyone. He also didn’t understand why everyone kept calling him Jimmy. He had always preferred being called James over Jimmy.

“Uh, okay, I guess that sounds fair.”

He was surprised when a minute later a familiar figure walked into the room. Coming out of the boys’ dressing room was the blonde haired boy that he met earlier in the comic book store. But now instead of wearing a Mighty Boy costume the boy was dressed in a light blue leotard and sky blue tights.

Without saying a word the boy went over to the exercise bar and began doing his stretches. As James watched him he still couldn’t make any sense out of anything that had happened to him since leaving that comic book store.

He was so lost in thought that he barely noticed when music started to fill the room. He looked around at the other kids and they were all moving their bodies to the beat of the music. He knew that if he tried doing that that he would make a fool of himself. He had never danced before in his life. But then he saw the look that the teacher was giving him and he knew that he had to do something.

First he began moving his foot in the same manner as the blonde haired boy. As he did this he felt a strange sensation in his body and suddenly his entire body began to move in rhythm to the music. Not only was he perfectly copying the movements of the other boy but he was starting to make new ones. He began to move gracefully around the floor and he did several leaps into the air. The other kids in class stopped dancing and they all started to watch him as he twirled and leaped around the room. He had no idea how he was doing what he was doing but he was doing it all with very little effort.

When the music ended he found that the entire class was applauding including the blonde haired boy. The teacher was smiling as she came over.

“Well I can see that you have been practicing. You must really want to dance the lead in this year’s production. After that performance I think I will have to give it to you.”

He couldn’t help but notice the strange smirk that the blonde haired boy had on his face. He was still too confused over his recent performance. How had he managed to dance like that? He knew nothing about ballet and yet he was dancing like someone who had been dancing for years. Then he remembered the photos that he saw in his bedroom, the ones of him taken over the years dancing ballet.

“Uh thank you. I didn’t know I had that in me.”

As the class started up again he found that he was still moving and dancing around like someone who had been doing it for a long time. He was still feeling very confused by the time the class came to an end.

He left the academy and walked about a block from the dance studio when he realized that he was walking around outside in his green and black ballet unitard. He nervously looked around to see if anyone was looking at him but nobody seemed to be paying any attention to him.

He kept walking and he came to a stop when he got to the front of the “The Kid Boutique” clothing store. When he looked at the large window display he noticed that there was a boy mannequin and two girl mannequins. The boy one was wearing jeans and a blue pull over shirt. And one of the girls was wearing a yellow dress while the other was wearing pink leggings with a pink top.

“It’s been awhile since mom has taken me to this place. I wish I had some money on me, then I could go inside and buy a pair of jeans.”

He continued to look at the boy mannequin but he found he couldn’t keep himself from looking over at the other two mannequins.

“Jeans are nice but those leggings look a lot nicer and I bet they are lots more comfortable to wear.”

He found that he was now spending more time looking at the two girl mannequins than the boy one.

“I wonder if I can get my mom to buy me a pair of those leggings, I bet that…”

He stopped and suddenly started to shake his head.

“Wait, what am I saying? I don’t want her to buy me those leggings. I don’t want her to buy me any leggings. If anything I would have her buy me those jeans. Jeans are what I wear.”

He was just about to walk away when he heard someone in the distance calling out his name. He turned and he saw Kira running towards him. She was still dressed in her ballet clothes and she had something tucked underneath her arms. She smiled when she caught up to him.

“Kira, what are you doing here?”

“Well I noticed how upset you were when you said that you didn’t bring a change of clothes with you to walk home in, and so I decided to let you wear mine. It’s just a shirt and a pair of jeans but maybe you won’t feel so bad if you wore them.”

She handed him the clothes and he started to feel a bit of relief.

“Well I guess I can put them on over my ballet outfit, but then what will you wear?”

“I’ll be fine. It doesn’t bother me if I walk home dressed like this. And don’t worry about returning them, I will pick them up later when I come to your house.”

“You’re coming to my house?” he asked feeling confused.

“Yes, don’t you remember? Last week you invited everyone to come over your house to use your pool today.”

He didn’t remember doing that but it wasn’t the first thing that people had to remind him about. There didn’t seem anything wrong with having some kids over for a little pool party and so he nodded his head as he started to put on her clothes.

He couldn’t wait to get dressed but as he did he couldn’t help but notice what a snug fit the jeans were. He actually had to tug on them for a minute before he could pull them all the way up. Then he noticed that instead of having a zipper it had a series of buttons in the front. It was a little bit of a struggle to pull the pants closed and button all the buttons. When he was done he was wearing a pair of jeans that seemed to be just as tight fitting as his unitard. Then he put on the shirt. It was a normal pull over shirt like the one that he always wore except that this one was yellow and had the image of a cute unicorn on it. When he looked down it was very obvious that he was wearing girls’ clothing.

“They look really nice on you.,” Kira said with a smile. “I hope you don’t mind the snug fit. That’s how I wear most of my clothes.”

“Uh yeah, they’re fine. Thanks. At least they hide my ballet outfit.”

“I still don’t understand why you feel so embarrassed about wearing it. You’ve been dancing ballet since you were five. That’s when we first met.”

He actually couldn’t remember meeting Kira before today but in this strange world that he was now in, it seemed like they had been friends since kindergarten.

“Yeah, well uh I guess I just don’t feel like myself today. But thanks for the loan of your clothes and I will return them to you later.”

“Okay, sounds good. See you at your house later. Bye,” she said as she turned and dashed off in the opposite direction.

James couldn’t wait to get home and put on some decent clothes.

“Well that was really nice of her to loan me some clothes to wear. It’s a shame that they are girl clothes but it’s better than nothing.”

He sighed and continued walking home. He had barely gone two blocks when he started to walk past “Just 4 Girls” clothing store. He stopped and stared at the various outfits on the different mannequins.

“Wow, just look at all those colorful clothes. I never really paid much attention to girls’ clothes before but I can’t take my eyes off of them.”

As he continued to stare at the colorful clothing a smile began to appear on his face.

“Oh look at that one with the striped leggings and the cute kitty cat top. That’s exactly the same outfit that Jane wore to school last Monday. I didn’t know that she shopped here.”

He stopped and then started to shake his head.

“Now how come I remember what she wore last week to school? I never pay attention to what any girl wears to school. That is so strange.”

He turned his attention back to the large display and then his eyes stopped at one mannequin in particular.

“Oh now look at the outfit that’s on that mannequin. That is such a cute pink halter top and it goes so nicely with those pink leggings. Now that is a really cute outfit.”

He paused again and started to scratch his head.

“That’s so weird. Did I just say that I thought that outfit was cute? These are all girl clothes. I don’t like any girl clothes. I don’t understand why I’ve been looking at these clothes for the past fifteen minutes. I should be walking home before anyone sees how I am dressed.”

He looked down and gasped when he saw that he was no longer wearing the outfit that Kira had loaned him. Now he was wearing the pink halter top and pink leggings that he had just been admiring in the window.

“What the heck! These aren’t the clothes that I had on. This is even worse that what I had on before!”

He touched his bare midriff in disbelief.

“And what happened to the ballet outfit that I was wearing underneath her clothes? It seems to have disappeared.”

He pulled the top of the leggings away from his body and was surprised to see that the blue panties he had been wearing had now changed to pink.

“And even my underwear has changed. I don’t understand any of this. Why am I dressed in the same exact outfit as that mannequin in the display?”

He turned and looked again in the window but now the mannequin that had been wearing the pink outfit was now attired in button up blue jeans and yellow unicorn top that he had gotten from Kira.

“Huh? Am I dreaming? I swear that mannequin wasn’t wearing that outfit a minute ago. Those are the clothes I borrowed from Kira, but now they are on the mannequin. It’s like we switched clothes somehow. I feel like I’m beginning to lose my mind with all these crazy things going on. Now I really need to get home.”

He couldn’t understand why all these embarrassing things were constantly happening to him. As he quickly walked home he kept looking down at his body just to make sure that his clothes hadn’t changed again without him noticing. Fortunately by the time he got home he was still dressed in the pink outfit. He quickly opened the door and dashed inside. He went in so fast that he almost ran into his mother.

“Oops, sorry mom. I didn’t see you there.”

“Well it looks like someone is in a hurry. So how was ballet today?” she asked.

His mouth opened wide as he gave her puzzled look.

“Uh, it was okay. But aren’t you going to say anything about the clothes I’ve got on?”

She looked at him from head to toe and then she shook her head.

“No, what am I supposed to say?”

“You’re not surprised to see me wearing leggings or a halter top?”

“Well I am surprised that you wore that outfit to ballet. Normally you only wear it to school.”

“I’ve worn this outfit to school?”

“Yes.”

“And nobody has teased me or beaten me up?”

“No, why would you think that they would do that?”

“Because these are girl clothes and I’m a boy.”

“Yes, you are a boy. You’re a boy who has a large wardrobe and half of it is girl clothing. You’ve worn clothes like that for years. Why would you think that anyone would start teasing you about it now?”

“I don’t know,” he said as he shook his head and looked down at his attire. “I don’t think I’m feeling too well. Maybe I should change and relax by the pool.”

“That’s a good idea, especially since several of your friends are already outside at the pool.”

“What are they doing here? Oh wait, that’s right, Kira said that I invited them to come over to use the pool.”

“Yes you did, and that’s why I was surprised that you came home late from ballet. You usually get home fifteen minutes earlier than you did today.”

“Oh, yeah, I did stop for awhile on my way home. I was looking at some of the outfits at “Just 4 Girls. And let me guess, you don’t see anything wrong with that.”

“No, as long as you just looked and you didn’t go inside to buy anything. You already spend too much of your allowance on clothes.”

He sighed and shook his head. “Of course I do. Why am I not surprised. Okay, I’m going to change into my swimsuit.”

He went to his room and immediately took off the pink outfit. He placed it on the bed next to the Mighty Girl costume that he had put there earlier. Before he got his swimsuit he decided to take a look inside his closet. When he opened the door he was surprised to see that it was filled with a lot more clothes than it had before. About half of them were his usual shirts and pants but the other half were dresses and colorful leggings.

“It’s just like mom said, I do own a lot of girl clothes. Why do I have all these clothes?”

He shook his head as he went to the dresser to pick out a swimsuit. As he opened the drawer to pull one out he suddenly stopped and stared in disbelief at the contents of the drawer. Normally when he reached into this drawer he would be pulling out a pair of boys' swim trunks, but now he was holding a girls’ one piece swimsuit. It looked and felt nothing like the trunks that he usually wore. This one was made from a stretchy material and the pattern on it looked very familiar. As he looked at it more closely he realized where he had seen it before.

“This swimsuit has the pattern of a Mighty Girl costume on it.”

He looked at the label and it had a tag that read “Official Mighty Girl Swimsuit.”

“It is a Mighty Girl swimsuit. I knew it.”

He searched through the drawer some more but all he kept seeing were one piece swimsuits.

He was still looking in disbelief at the Mighty Girl swimsuit when his mother came into the room.

“What’s the matter dear? Your friends are all down at the pool. Why haven’t you gotten changed yet?”

“I can’t get changed Mom, look what I found in my drawer,” he said as he held up the pink swimsuit. “I can’t wear this out there.”

“Why? Is there a hole in it?”

“No, there’s not a hole. But look at it. I can’t wear this.”

She sighed and shook her head.

“You had no problem wearing that last year. Now I know you would like me to buy you the new Mighty Girl swimsuit that came out this year. But there is nothing wrong with your old suit and it still fits you. Your friends won’t care that they’ve already seen you wearing it before.”

“But…”

“No buts!” she said sternly. “Now all your friends are waiting for you and I want you in that swimsuit and outside in less than five minutes.”

“But…”

“I said no buts!” she said. “Now get changed and go outside or else.”

He knew from the look on her face that she was not in the mood to argue. He frowned and slowly nodded his head.

“Okay mom.”

As she left his room he slowly took off the pink panties. Then he started to put on the one piece. It hugged his body as he pulled it up. When it was on he turned and looked at himself in the mirror. He cringed as he saw his reflection. He placed his hand on the swimsuit and felt it.

“This feels nothing like the swimsuit I usually wear. I feel so foolish. How can mom say that I wore this thing last year. This is a girl’s swimsuit. I’ve never worn anything like this before.”

Then he was shocked when he looked down at his groin.

“Hey, why do I look so smooth down there? Why can’t I see my boyhood?”

He reached down and felt that area.

“I can feel it down there but for some reason I don’t see any bump under the suit.”

As he got ready to leave the room he glanced down at his nightstand and he stared in disbelief at the illustration that was done of him.

“I don’t understand it. When I got this drawing it was of me in my Mighty Boy costume. But now that’s me in a Mighty Girl costume. How is that possible?”

Before he could think anymore about it he heard his mother calling out to him.

“Jimmy, please go outside now.”

“Okay mom, I’m coming.”

As he headed out of his room he took a quick look at the sign over his bed. In the past it had the name JAMES in big blue letters but now it had the word Jimmy and each letter was a different color of the rainbow.

“I wonder why mom put a new sign over my bed. I have noticed that people seem to be calling me Jimmy more than James. And look how colorful that sign is. Red, orange, green, blue and yellow, that’s all the rainbow colors.”

He was still staring at the sign when Kira stepped into the room wearing an orange two piece swimsuit.

“Hey, why are you still in your room? Everyone is outside waiting for you.”

“Oh uh Kira. Yeah, I was coming out. I was just afraid of what the other kids would say when they saw me in this swimsuit.”

She looked at him as she walked around him.

“It looks okay to me. I think it looks just as cute on you as it did the last time I saw you wearing it.”

“You’ve seen me in this before?”

“Sure, lots of times,” she said. “You’ve always said that it was your favorite. In fact I was with you and your mother when you picked it out in the store.”

“Wait a minute, you’re saying that I asked my mom to buy me this swimsuit?”

“Yes, like I said, I was there. I wanted you to get a two piece like I’ve got but you said you liked the one piece better. If you ever do want to wear a two piece you can always borrow one of mine.”

The thought of him wearing a bikini seemed even funnier than him wearing a one piece. He started to laugh as he pictured himself in such an outfit.

“No, I think I will stay away from a bikini for now. Well if you are sure that nobody will laugh when they see me in this then I will go outside.”

She reached over and took him by the hand.

“You wore it all last summer. Nobody will care that you are wearing it this summer too.”

When they got outside he saw a lot of kids in and out of the pool. Many of them were kids from ballet but there were also several that he recognized from school. He even spotted his friends Jonathon and Dirk over by the diving board. They turned, looked at him and waved.

He nervously walked over to his two best friends. A few other kids said hello as he walked past them. If any of them were surprised to see him in the one piece swimsuit they didn’t show it.

Jonathon was wearing a style of swim trunks that James normally wore, while Dirk was wearing his red competition swimsuit. They both smiled as he approached.

“Oh hi Jenny, thanks for inviting us,” Jonathon said.

“Uh what did you just call me?”

“Jimmy, that is your name, isn’t it?”

“Yeah, Jimmy. I thought I heard you say something else.”

“Nope, just Jimmy. Same thing I’ve always called you.”

Actually it wasn’t. He could remember a time when Jonathon and everyone else called him James, but lately they all seemed to be calling him by the nickname Jimmy. And he was pretty sure that he had first called him Jenny, not Jimmy.

“Hey, isn’t that the same swimsuit you wore last year?” Dirk asked. “I thought you said at school that you had gotten a new one for this year.”

It seemed like he was the only one who didn’t remember that he wore this suit last year. Why was he wearing a girl’s swimsuit and why wasn’t anyone surprised about it?

“Uh no, I haven’t gotten a new one yet. But soon. Very soon. I desperately need to get a new swimsuit. Probably one like the kind Jonathon has on.”

When he said this the two boys burst out in laughter.

“Yeah, like I could imagine you ever wearing swim trunks like that,” Dirk said as he slapped James on the butt.

James was momentarily stunned when he got slapped. He couldn’t remember ever having one of his friends slap him on the butt before. And not only that but it was a pretty hard slap as well.

“Hey, don’t slap so hard,” he said as he rubbed his butt. “And what’s so funny about that? I could wear swim trunks like that if I wanted.”

“Yeah, you probably could, but in all the time I’ve known you I’ve never seen you in anything but a one piece.”

It was at that moment that Kira ran over and grabbed him by the hand.

“Come on over to the other side of the pool. There’s someone there who wants to talk to you.”

He quickly said goodbye to his two friends as Kira led him past a group of kids hanging out on the other side of the pool. They were all girls from his ballet class and they all said hello as he passed by. A short distance beyond them was a solitary figure in a blue competition style swimsuit. When the person turned around he noticed that it was the mysterious blonde haired boy.

“Oh uh hi, I didn’t expect to see you here,” he said as Kira walked away leaving the two of them alone.

“Well you did invite me, so I figured that I would come,” the boy responded.

”I invited you? When?”

“Earlier today, at ballet,” the boy replied. “Don’t you remember?”

“No not really, but there have been a lot of things lately that I seem to have forgotten. No, it’s not that I’ve forgotten them. It’s more like everyone else remembers things differently than I do.”

The boy had a sly grin on his face as he stared directly at James’ eyes. James felt like turning away but he couldn’t stop from focusing on the boy’s eyes. There was something very captivating about them and he felt compelled to continue looking at them.

“Well I guess you can’t be expected to remember everything,” the boy said. “After all, I think it’s pretty amazing that you can remember how to do all of those amazing moves you did at ballet today. I’ll bet you must have practiced over and over and over learning them all.”

As the boy spoke there was an almost hypnotic sound to his voice. James felt like he needed to pay very close attention to every word that the boy said.

“Over and over,” James said slowly as the boy’s words seemed to take control of him.

“Yes, over and over. That’s the only way to become a great dancer is to practice over and over. And you’re such a graceful ballet dancer. Ballet has got to be your most favorite activity. You are very happy and excited that you’ve been selected to dance the lead in your upcoming dance recital. You have always loved dancing the lead role. Being able to show everyone what an amazing dancer just fills you with great joy.”

“Graceful dancer,” he repeated as the words sank in. “Fills me with great joy.”

“Yes great joy. And you not only love dancing ballet but you also love watching it as well. Ballet is so much more fun than baseball. Ugly, dirty baseball, it’s not like ballet which is graceful and beautiful and easy to understand. Baseball is so very difficult and hard to understand. Who can understand all of those confusing words and phrases like home run, or foul ball, or hits and errors. And it’s also too violent, with all those nasty little balls and bats flying all around. It’s so very, very scary. It’s nothing but a nasty, violent and confusing thing.”

“Confusing words and phrases,” James said softly as the baseball knowledge that he had got jumbled around in his brain and his feelings about the game started to change.

“Yes, baseball is nowhere near as good as ballet. In fact ballet is so fantastic that you have plans to be a world class ballet dancer one day. And you know with all your heart that if you continue to practice and work hard at it that you will become one. I’ll bet that sounds pretty amazing to you right now. A professional ballet dancer.”

“Professional ballet dancer,” James repeated as the image of him dancing on the stage in front of a large audience began to form in his mind. He imagined himself doing majestic leaps and graceful twirls on his toes. A very warm feeling of pleasure went through his body and then the images left his mind and he noticed that the blond haired boy was just standing there smiling at him. How long had he been here talking to him? He was pretty sure that they had been talking about something but he couldn’t remember what it was.

“Oh uh, hey, I’m uh glad you could come over and visit,” he said as he looked around and noticed that they were the only two people left in the backyard. “Oh where did everyone go? They were all here just a moment ago.”

The boy laughed and shook his head. “Oh they all took off awhile ago. Don’t you remember that you said goodbye when each of them left?”

James had a confused look as he shook his head.

“No, not really. The last thing I remember was coming over to talk to you.”

“Oh well we weren’t talking about too much. I was just telling you about a baseball game that I went to.”

James frowned when he heard that.

“Oh, baseball, ugh. It’s such an ugly and dirty and confusing game. I don’t like it.”

The boy smiled when he heard that.

“Yeah, I guess you’re right. But hey, you look a little tired. Maybe you over did it at ballet today.”

“Yeah, I think I did. Sorry that I beat you for the lead role.”

“Oh, that’s okay,” the boy replied with a sly smile. “You’re such a graceful dancer that you deserve to get the part. In fact, I think I will probably give up dancing. At least for now.”

“I don’t think I could ever give up dancing. I just love ballet too much,” he replied. He felt pretty sure that he had never said those words before but for some strange reason it was how he felt at the moment. Maybe the boy was right. Maybe he was tired from all the day’s activities.

“I’ve got to be going,” the boy said. “You should go inside and relax.”

“Yes, relax, good idea,” James said as he started to head into the house. He walked into the living room and flopped down on the couch and turned on the TV with the remote control. He lifted his legs and twirled around and rested them on the couch. He was feeling very comfortable as he started to flip through the channels. He came to a stop when he spotted a baseball game being played. He tried watching it for about a minute but he found that he really wasn’t enjoying it.

“I don’t understand how anyone could watch this stuff. I can’t make sense out of anything they are saying or doing. It’s such a nasty, violent and confusing thing.”

He pressed the button and started to flip through the channels again. He stopped when he came to a channel with some interesting music playing. As he watched the channel he saw a group of dancers performing on stage. Based on their attire it had to be a ballet and he was suddenly captivated by the sounds and images that he was seeing.

“Oh, this looks like a much better thing to watch than that ballgame. Just look how gracefully they move to the music.”

He got more comfortable on the couch and continued to watch the ballet on TV. He found that the more he watched the show the more he wanted to continue watching it.

A short time later his mother stepped into the room.

“I hope you’re not wearing a wet swimsuit on the couch,” she said as she stepped closer to him.

“Huh? What?” he said as his attention was drawn away from the screen. He looked down and was surprised that he was still wearing the Mighty Girl swimsuit.

“Oh, gosh, I was paying so much attention to the TV that I forgot I was wearing it. Sorry mom. And no, it’s not wet. I didn’t even go into the pool today. Do I have to change out of it right now? I want to finish watching this show first.”

His mother looked at the TV and smiled.

“As long as you’re not wet you can continue watching your show. I know how much you love ballet.”

She walked over and kissed him on the forehead.

“You’re such a good boy,” she said as she walked back out of the room.

He smiled and turned his attention back to the TV.

“Gee, I hope that I haven’t missed too much.”

As he watched the program he suddenly started to think about something.

“It’s strange that I feel like watching this show. I feel like I should be watching something else but I can’t think of what it is.”

He placed his hand on the stomach and started to rub it.

“And I can’t get over how comfy I feel in this swimsuit. I really didn’t want to wear it before but now it doesn’t feel all that bad.”

About a minute later his mother called him to the dining room to eat dinner. He sat down at the table with his older and younger brother. Neither one of them said anything about the fact that he was wearing a girl’s swimsuit to the table. Most of the conversation was taken up by Noah who kept asking if he could borrow the family car more often. James tried to comment about his performance at ballet but Noah quickly changed the conversation back to cars.

After dinner James offered to clean and put away the dishes. When he was done he went to his bedroom to get ready for bed. As he stepped into the room he noticed his reflection in the mirror and he paused in mid step.

“Oh wait a minute. Why am I still wearing this swimsuit? I should have changed out of it the moment I came into the house. And not only that by why did I spend so much time watching ballet on TV? That’s not something I normally do. Or is it? It’s not like there was a lot of stuff to watch, it was either that or baseball. And baseball is so nasty, violent and confusing.”

He immediately took off the swimsuit and placed it in the clothes hamper. Then he went to his dresser to get changed for bed. He opened his underwear drawer and frowned when he saw all the colorful girl panties.

“I still don’t know where all these came from. I must have some boy ones in here somewhere.”

He dug down further and at the very bottom of the drawer he pulled out a pair of blue boy briefs.

“Finally,” he said triumphantly as he put them on.

“Ah it feels nice to be wearing boy clothes again, even if it is just underwear.”

Then he went to his closet where his pajamas were but when he went to that shelf he saw that it had several girly pajamas.

“Oh no, I refuse to go to sleep in any of those. There must be some boy ones around somewhere in here.”

He looked through several stacks of clothes and finally found a pair of blue boy pajamas. Putting them on he turned and looked at himself in the mirror.

“Much much better,” he said as he looked at his reflection. “Finally I look like myself again. The first chance I get I’m going to go shopping with mom and have her buy me more boy clothes. I don’t care if people are used to seeing me dress up like a girl, I’m not going to do that.”

He stretched out his arms and yawned.

“I think I will read my Mighty Boy comic before going to bed.”

He got into bed and reached over for the stack of comic books on the nightstand. He grabbed the top one and was surprised when he saw the cover.

“Super Poodle? What is that doing here? I’ve never owned any Super Poodle comics. Those are for girls.”

He grabbed the entire stack and found that all of them were Super Poodle comics except for bottom one. The final book in the stack was Mighty Boy # 1. On the cover was a smiling Mighty Man introducing Mighty Boy to the readers.

“Okay, this is much better. Mighty Boy number one. Such a rare issue. I’ve never seen a copy of it in person. But I still don’t know where those Super Poodle comic books came from.”

He opened up the comic and he was surprised when he saw the contents of the book.

“Hey something doesn’t look right. Why is Mighty Girl on the first page. She doesn’t get introduced until issue seventeen.”

He flipped the page and found that the next two pages had Mighty Girl on them as well. Then he started flipping through the pages some more and he started to calm down when he saw that the rest of the pages all had Mighty Boy in them.

“Okay, that’s so odd. The first three pages only have Mighty Girl in them but the rest of the book is all Mighty Boy. Is this some kind of misprint? But how could it be? Mighty Girl didn’t come out as a character until two years after this issue came out. I will have to go back to the comic book store and show them that they gave me a defective comic.”

He placed the comic back on the nightstand and got ready to turn out the light.

“They had better give me a replacement comic book or else.”

He shook his head as he turned out the light and rested his head on his pillow.

“I will go there first thing after school tomorrow. Or maybe I should have mom take me shopping for more boy clothes.”

He stopped for a moment and then shook his head.

“No, what am I thinking about? I can’t do any of those things after school tomorrow. I need to spend that time practicing my ballet. The only way to become a better dancer is to practice my moves over and over.”

He stopped again and nodded his head.

“Yes, over and over. If I’m ever going to become a professional ballet dancer when I grow up I’m going to have to get as much practice in as I can. That’s the only way to become the best ballet dancer ever. I can’t wait to dance the lead in our upcoming recital. That’s going to be so awesome.”

Thinking about ballet brought a smile to his face and he was able to go asleep as he forgot about the things that had been bothering him.

Morning came and he woke up and got out of bed. As he stretched his arms he noticed something peculiar. For some strange reason the blue pajamas that he had gone to bed in were now pink.

“Hey, these aren’t the pajamas that I went to bed in. Not only are they a different color but they look and feel really different. These look more like girl pajamas. Why do some of my clothes keep changing into girl clothes when I’m wearing them? I don’t understand it. I will have to check this out a little further when I’m done with my shower.”

He went to the bathroom and got undressed. When he took off his pajamas he noticed that he was wearing a pair of pink panties underneath.

“Oh no, not my underwear too. I don’t understand how my clothes keep changing like this.”

He quickly took them off. When he did he was relieved to see that his boyhood was still there.

“At least that hasn’t changed.”

A short time later he was done with his shower and once he got out he grabbed a towel and started to dry off. He stepped over to the sink and started to brush his teeth.

When he looked up he let out a little shriek as he stared in disbelief at his reflection.

“What the heck. What happened to my hair? It’s longer than it was yesterday. Now it comes to down to my shoulder.”

He raised his hand and ran his fingers through his hair.

“And are those pink streaks? Yes, they are. Why do I have pink streaks in my hair? It makes me look a kinda like a girl. Well there is no way that I’m going to go around with my hair this long.”

He opened the bathroom closet and pulled out a pair of scissors. Then he started to cut the bottom of his hair. Once he got it to the length he wanted he began to cut the hair on his forehead and around his ears. When he was done there was a lot of hair in the sink.

“Well I got it pretty much back to normal. I managed to cut some of the pink out of it too. At least now I look more like myself.”

He cleaned up the mess he made in the bathroom and headed back to his bedroom. When he got there he opened a dresser drawer. Just like yesterday the drawer was filled with girls’ panties. He went all the way to the bottom but he was unable to find any of his boy underwear. He pulled out a pink one and frowned.

“I was hoping that my clothes would be back to normal when I woke up this morning. This is now going to be the second day in a row that I’m going to be wearing girl panties.”

He quickly put on the pink panties and then he went over to his closet to pick out a shirt and a pair of pants to wear. He knew just the ones that he wanted. He saw them last night when he was searching for boy pajamas. But he got an even bigger surprise when he opened the door and looked inside.

“Oh no! Where did all my boy clothes go? Now my closet is totally full of girl clothes! There’s not a single piece of boy clothes left. Just look at all those colorful dresses and stuff.”

There was a folded pink and white object on the shelf in front of him and he grabbed it to see what it was. When he unfolded it he saw that it was a white single piece unitard with pink puffs around the wrist and ankles. There was also a tail in the back with a pink tuft at the end, and a hood with fake pink hair attached to it.

“What the heck! This is a Super Poodle costume. It looks a lot like the one that girl wore yesterday at the comic book store. What am I doing with one? I would never wear this.”

He put the costume down and then pulled out a pink dress and stared at it in disbelief.

“Why is this stuff happening to me? I can’t wear this.”

As he said this his mother stepped into the room.

“Aren’t you dressed yet?” she asked as she walked over and kissed him on the cheek. “Oh that’s a lovely dress. Is that the one you are going to wear today?”

“But mom, I can’t wear this dress. What will all my friends say?”

“I’m sure they will say that you look very nice in it. I think it is a little bit too formal for school. But it should be fine. Now hurry up and put it on. You don’t want to be late for school.”

“But I can’t wear this to school.”

“There is nothing wrong with that dress. You wore it at your Aunt Kate’s wedding last month.”

“I did?” he asked in shock.

“Yes, when you were one of her bridesmaids, I mean bridesboy. Now get dressed and come to breakfast.”

“But…”

“No buts. Now get dressed and come to breakfast.”

She stood there with a solemn look on her face and he knew there was no use in arguing with her. He unzipped the zipper in the back and got into the dress. When he was done his mother zipped it back up.

“There, now don’t you look adorable. Now get your things together and come to breakfast.”

As she left the room he turned towards the mirror. He was a little afraid to lift his head and look at his reflection. When he did he was shocked to see that his hair had regrown and was now back down to his shoulders. And the pink strands were also back. Standing there in his pink dress he looked even more like a girl.

“Oh my gosh! With this long hair and this pink dress, I look a lot like a girl. I can’t go to school looking like this. But I can’t cut my hair again. I will probably just grow back again.”

He looked at his reflection as he shifted his body from the left to the right.

“Well the only good thing about this dress is that it covers most of my legs. I can’t believe all the short dresses that I saw in my closet. I can’t imagine ever wearing one of those things.”

As he turned and looked towards his bed he was momentarily startled.

“Hey, the name over my bed changed again. Yesterday it had the name Jimmy in different colors but now they are all in bright pink letters. What’s up with all this pink? I wonder what else in here has changed?”

He looked more closely around the room and noticed some things that were not there when he went to bed, and other things that were now missing.

“Where are all my action figures? And why do I have so many plush animals?”

He turned his attention back towards his bed and he became even more frightened.

“Argh! My name! It’s changed again! But now it says Jenny instead of Jimmy. But that’s impossible. It said Jimmy just a minute ago.”

Then he noticed his rare Mighty Boy comic on a nearby nightstand.

“Even the Mighty Boy comic book has changed. When I went to bed it was the first issue of Mighty Boy, but now it’s number 17 where they introduce Mighty Girl into the series. Before it had Mighty Man and Might Boy on the cover and now it’s got Mighty Boy and Mighty Girl. Ugh, this is my least favorite issue. I hate Mighty Girl. She’s so lame.”

When he lifted his head he was surprised again by what he saw.

“Now my name over my bed is back to Jimmy. I’m sure it said Jenny before. How could it have changed since I last looked at it?”

He decided to test a theory that he had. He turned his head away from the sign and then back again. When he did the sign now said Jenny. Every time he turned away and looked back at it the sign would change from Jimmy to Jenny.

“Why does my name keep changing from Jimmy to Jenny? Jenny is a girl’s name. I’m a boy.”

Then he looked at his reflection and frowned.

“But I sure don’t look like a boy with this outfit and hair. I’m going to be so embarrassed going to school looking like this.”

“Jenny, come right now and eat your breakfast,” his mother shouted from down the hall.

“I’m positive she said the name Jenny. And that’s the same name that keeps popping up over my bed.”

He went over to the desk where he kept his cell phone and school supplies and he stopped and stared in amazement when he saw his phone. Yesterday his phone had a blue case with the name James on it. But now it was all pink sparkles with the name Jenny on it.

“Now that name is on my cell phone too.”

He quickly grabbed the phone and started to look through the photo gallery. None of the pictures that he remembered being in there were there. The most recent photos were ones of him wearing the dress he had on now. He was at a wedding with several girls who were all wearing the same exact dress. His hair was the same length it was now and it also had the pink streaks in it. Not only was he in every picture but he was smiling in them all.

He kept flipping through the pictures and they all showed him in various girl clothing and pretty much every photo was of him and other girls. There were hardly any boys in any of the photos.

“Where are all the photos of me and my friends? Who are all these girls that I’m with? And why do I look so happy wearing all those girl clothes? And here’s a picture someone took of me and I’m getting my nails painted. I’ve never had my nails painted.”

He tried to find a pocket in his dress where he could put his phone but it didn’t seem to have any. He felt around for a minute before finally giving up. As he raised his hand to look at his phone again he was shocked to see that all of his fingernails were painted bright pink.

“Argh! They are painted! But they weren’t just a minute ago.. This is impossible. None of this makes any sense. First my hair quickly grows back and then my nails get mysteriously painted.

He frowned as he looked down at his feet.

“Oh no, even my toenails are painted pink. Why do they have to be such a girly color?”

At that moment his mother stormed into the room and grabbed him by the wrist.

“Okay Jenny, I’ve told you several times to come and eat your breakfast but you have wasted too much time in your room. You will just have to go to school without any breakfast. You can take an apple or a banana with you and eat it on your way.”

“But mom, look at my fingernails. They’re all painted pink,” he said as he held up both hands.

“Yes, I know. You showed them to me two days ago when you and your friends painted them. I don’t understand why you are behaving this way Jenny. It’s almost as if you didn’t want to go to school.”

“But I don’t want to.”

“Hmm, are you sick?” she asked as she felt his forehead.

Then she smiled and nodded her head.

“No, you’re not sick but I think I know what it is. You’re afraid that Dirk won’t ask you to be his date at the upcoming school dance.”

“Date? Dance? Eww, I don’t like Dirk like that. I like him as a friend, but not as a boyfriend. I could never date him or have him take me to a dance.”

His mother smiled and started to chuckle.

“Dear, for the past week you have done nothing but talk about Dirk and how you wished that he would take you to the dance. But he doesn’t see you the same way he sees other little girls in your school. Even though you behave and dress like a girl he still knows that you are a boy. Now your father and I accepted your decision a long time ago when you told us that you identify more with being a girl than you do a boy. That’s why we changed your name long ago and tried to raise you as our daughter and not our son.”

“Identify with being a girl?” he said feeling very confused.

“Yes dear, you remember, that means that you think of yourself more with being a girl than you do a boy. It’s called transgender. We’ve spoken about this before. Remember.”

James was stunned and he slowly shook his head.

“But I am a boy, ain’t I?”

“Yes dear, you are a boy down here,” she said as she pointed to his groin. And then she pointed to his forehead and chest. “But up here and here you are a girl. You think and feel like a girl.”

He looked at the name sign over his bed and it still said Jenny in bright pink letters. No matter how many times he turned away and looked back at it the sign never changed to Jimmy. It remained at Jenny every time he saw it.

“My name. It’s now Jenny. It hasn’t changed.”

“No dear, it hasn’t. You name has been Jenny since you started to go to kindergarten.”

“But my name is supposed to be Jimmy.”

“That’s the name you had when you were born. But I told you that it was legally changed to Jennifer a long time ago. I know that you prefer that people call you Jenny and so that is what we do.”

She walked over to a shelf on the wall and pulled down a binder. He knew right away what it was. It was the photo album that she had given to him on his last birthday. His name was on the cover in blue letters and inside were various pictures taken of him over the years since he was born.

“Let me show you what I mean,” she said as she motioned for him to sit on the bed.

She sat down next to him and he was able to get a better look at the cover. His name was on there but it was the name Jenny and it was in bright pink letters. She opened it up and he saw some very familiar pictures. It was when he was born. His mother was holding him and he was wrapped in a blue blanket.

“This is one of my favorite pictures of you,” she said. “It was taken shortly after you were born.”

“Yes, I remember you showing that to me. Look how blond my hair was back then.”

“Yes, your hair was blond for several years before it finally started to darken and turn brown.”

She started to flip through the pages and as she did the pictures started to become less and less familiar. The very early photos were exactly as he remembered them but then when he saw the pictures taken when he was in kindergarten that is when they started to look different.

“That’s me, but I’m wearing a dress,” he said as he pointed to the picture.

“Yes, that is the first dress that you ever wore. You begged and pleaded with me to buy you a dress so you could wear it on your first day of school. You never were happy when you were forced to dress like a boy.”

She flipped through some more pages and in every photo he was either wearing a dress or some other type of girl clothing. And he noticed that his hair was longer than he used to wear it back then.

“It’s so hard to believe that is me. I look so much like a real little girl in these.”

Then his mother closed the book and placed it on her lap. He got off the bed and took the book from her. He wanted one last look at a picture that she quickly flipped by. He turned the pages and stopped when he came to the page. It was a picture from his eighth birthday party. He remembered it well. It was a monster theme one and all the boys came dressed as ghosts and zombies and other scary things. But in this picture there were no boys at his party. There was nothing but girls in attendance. And everyone there, including himself was dressed in a very fancy looking dress. His mother saw him staring at that picture.

“Oh yes, your eighth birthday party. That was the year that you wanted everyone to come dressed as a princess.”

She took the book from him and placed it on the shelf.

“Well that is enough time for nostalgia. It’s time that you headed off to school. And don’t worry if Dirk doesn’t ask you to go to the dance with him. I’m sure that there will be another boy who will be thrilled to have you as his dancing partner.”

She kissed him on the cheek and patted him on the butt.

“Now off to school with you now sweat heart.”

He was still in a daze about the things he had just seen and heard as he left the house.

“I don’t understand any of this. Now I’m a boy named Jenny and I think of myself more as being a girl than I do a boy? Why is this happening to me? I don’t remember any of the things that my mommy showed me but there were pictures to prove it. Why does she remember but I don’t? It’s like my whole past keeps being rewritten. But how? And why?”

He kept thinking about the things his mother said and he couldn’t believe that his name had been legally changed to Jennifer. Or that he had told people that he wanted to be called Jenny. He had heard that name a few times over the past 24 hours but since he woke up it was the only one that his mother used when addressing him.

“I don’t want to be called Jenny,” he moaned softly. “But how can I tell people to call me something else if that is what my name legally is? There’s got to be a way to undo all of these changes that keep happening.”

He kept looking around nervously as he walked to the bus stop. He was afraid that people would laugh at the way he was dressed. When he got to the stop he noticed a few girls from his class were already there. When they saw him they smiled and waved.

“Hi Jenny. You’re late. We didn’t think that you were going to make it before the bus got here.”

“Uh yeah, I almost didn’t. I had a hard time getting dressed today.”

“Well I love the dress that you decided to wear. I think it’s the perfect length. It’s short without being too short.”

“Short?”

He looked down and was shocked to see that he was no longer in the long dress that he put on in his bedroom. Now he was wearing a different pink dress, one that was very short and showed off a lot his legs.

“Oh my gosh, just look at how much of my legs are showing!”

“Yes, I don’t know any other boy that would wear a dress like that,” she said.

“That’s because Jenny is the only boy that we know who would ever wear a dress.”

He turned around as he suddenly noticed something else out of the ordinary.

“Hey where is Dirk and some of the boys that usually wait here for the bus?” he asked.

“I don’t remember ever seeing Dirk or any other boy waiting for the bus here.”

“Me neither. I always see Dirk and some other boys pick up the bus at the next stop. Why did you think he would be here? Are you still hoping that he will ask you to the dance?”

“No, of course not. I don’t want him to take me to the dance,” he said in his defense.

The girls just giggled as the bus pulled up and they all got on. He hadn’t intended to do so but he sat in the back of the bus with the other girls. At the next stop he saw Dirk and several other boys he knew get on. He shouted and waved at them to come and sit with him but they just looked and sat in another part of the bus. He felt a little dejected when that happened.

“Gee that’s the first time I’ve ever seen him ignore me like that,” he said solemnly.

He was pretty quiet for the rest of the bus ride. He just sat there and listened to the girls around him as they talked about a variety of things. Finally the subject got around to comic books and that is when he became interested.

“Oh yes, comic books, now that’s something that I know a lot about,” he said.

“Yeah I know,” Lucy said. “I think you have the largest collection of anyone in school.”

“She’s definitely got the most Mighty Girl comics,” Sarah added. “And the most Super Poodle.”

Sarah’s statement startled him for two reasons. One is that she referred to him as a she, and the other was that she said that he had the most Mighty Girl and Super Poodle comics.

“Mighty Girl? But I don’t like her. My favorite is Mighty Boy,” he said.

As he said this the girls started to laugh.

“Yeah right. We all know that Mighty Girl is your favorite,” Lucy said. “That’s why you are president of our Mighty Girl fan club. I can’t wait to come over and see the Mighty Girl comic book you won.”

“And don’t forget to wear your Mighty Girl costume to the next meeting,” Sarah added.

“But… but I don’t have a Mighty Girl costume.”

He knew this was a lie but he was hoping that none of them knew it.

Sarah pulled out her phone and selected a photo from her gallery.

“Then what do you call this?”

He looked at the phone and there was a picture of him at the comic store when he was awarded the comic book. But instead of being dressed as Mighty Boy, he was wearing a Mighty Girl outfit.

“Oh no,” he said feeling very depressed. “Of course I’m wearing a Mighty Girl costume.”

He continued to stare at the photo and as he did he began to enlarge it so he could get a better look.

“Actually that costume isn’t as bad as I thought it was,” he said. “Now that I see myself in it I think I kind of like it.”

He started to hand the phone back to her but then he stopped.

“Is it okay if I send this picture to my phone? I think I might make it my background photo.”

“Sure, go ahead. I also took some other pictures that day that you might like to have.”

He scrolled through the next batch of photos and he was surprised when he saw some with him dressed in the Super Poodle costume.

“Wait, is that me in that Super Poodle suit? Yes, it is. When was this taken?”

“Don’t you remember? That was taken last Halloween when you went around dressed as Super Poodle.”

“No, I don’t remember that,” he said as he shook his head.

After sending the photos to his phone he gave it back to her just as the bus arrived at the school. He was still looking at the photos on his phone as he stepped off the bus.

He suddenly stopped and then he shook his head.

“Wait, why am I so interested in these pictures of me? And why do I have such a strong desire to wear that Super Poodle costume?  Do I really associate with being a girl? What if everyone else is right and I’m the one that’s wrong? Maybe I really am Jenny and the memories that I have about being Jimmy are fake. But if that is true then why can’t I remember being Jenny?”

He scratched his head as he walked into the school.

“I need to find Dirk and talk to him about it. I’ve known him all my life. If anyone would remember then he would.”

As he walked the hallway to his first class he was surprised at the number of girls who greeted him. None of the girls had ever paid the least bit of attention to him before but now they all were happy to see him. And he also couldn’t get over how many of them complimented him on his dress. Instead of being embarrassed by the outfit he was actually feeling pretty good. The thing that did bother him was that most of the boys turned their heads when he was around as they pretended not to notice him.

It wasn’t until lunchtime that he finally got the chance to talk to Dirk. He saw him sitting at a table with a couple other players on the ball team. The boys seem surprised when he sat down at the table with them.

“What are you doing here Jenny?” Tommy asked. Tommy was the star pitcher on the team and because of that he got a lot of the credit when their team won.

“I wanted to talk to Dirk. I need to ask him something in private.”

All the boys at the table laughed except for Dirk. He looked a little embarrassed.

“It’s no secret what you want to talk about,” Tommy said. “Everyone knows that you’ve been waiting for him to ask you to the school dance.”

“Yeah, she’s got the hots for Dirk,” another boy added.

“I do not. And that’s not what I want to talk to him about. Now go away and leave us alone.”

“Oh, it sounds like someone took her angry pills today,” he said sarcastically.

James didn’t appreciate being referred to as a girl, but he also didn’t feel like arguing to them about it.

“Just go and leave us,” he said.

“Okay Princess Jenny, we’ll leave you two love birds alone,” Tommy said as all the boys but Dirk left the table.

“Oh, I really don’t like them. I’m glad they are gone. Now I can talk to you without those jerks around,” he said.

“They aren’t bad once you get to know them,” Dirk said.

“I know them all pretty well.”

“You’ve probably heard the other kids talking about them but you can’t know them like I do. I’m on the baseball team with them so we’re pretty close.”

“Ugh, baseball. Well I don’t want to talk about that, I want to talk about you and me.”

Dirk frowned as he started to scratch his head.

“Okay, I know what you are about to ask me. And I’m flattered that you like me and that you want me to ask you to the dance. But I don’t date guys. I know that everyone treats you like you are a girl, but I know that you’re really a guy and I just don’t want to go out with a boy.”

“I don’t know why everyone thinks that I want you to ask me to the dance. Sure you’re a cute looking boy but… wait, uh did I just say that you were cute? Oh geez, I did, didn’t I? Oh this is so embarrassing. It’s all because I said something that she would say.”

“That who would say?”

“Jenny, I just said something that Jenny would say.”

“Yeah of course. You are Jenny. Who else would you talk like?”

“Yes, I may look like Jenny but on the inside I’m still me, Jimmy. I know that my mom says that I’m Jenny on the inside but I don’t feel it. If she is in there she’s buried real deep. And I’ve been noticing lately that parts of her are starting to come to the surface.”

“What do you mean?”

“Well I will suddenly say or do something that I would never say or do, but it is something that Jenny would. Like when I said you were cute a minute ago.”

“That’s nice but I told you that I don’t date boys even if you do look and act like a girl.””

“I’m not asking you to date me. I’m just telling you about some of the parts of Jenny that I feel coming to the surface. Like when I saw the pictures of me dressed as Super Poodle and I had a very strong desire to wear that costume. Or when I saw the picture of me dressed as Mighty Girl and I made it my cel phone picture.”

“Ugh, Mighty Girl, she’s so lame,” Dirk said with a sneer.

When he heard that James suddenly felt very angry and he slammed his hand on the table.

“No she is not! She’s just about the best superhero character there is. You just don’t like her because she’s a girl and she’s more powerful than Mighty Boy.”

Part of him was glad that he had defended the attack against Mighty Girl but another part of him wondered why he felt such a strong feeling for the character.

“You see, it just happened again. That was Jenny talking, not me.”

“Well it sure sounded like you,” Dirk said as he started to get up. “You’re acting real strange today Jenny. Even for you. Maybe I should go.”

“No, please, don’t go. I will try to control myself. But this is why I came to you. I need your help in all of this.”

“Why ask me? Why don’t you ask one of your many girl friends?”

“Because I hardly know any of them. You and me have been best friends since kindergarten. We are even on the same swim team.”

Suddenly Dirk burst out in laughter.

“I don’t know which is funnier. You and me being friends or you being on the swim team. You’re much too girly to be on our team. And besides you’re a cheerleader. You can’t do that and be on our team.”

“Stop laughing at me. And I am not a cheerleader. And since when did our school have any cheerleaders.”

“It started at the beginning of the year. That’s when you and some other girls joined. None of you are any good at it.”

“There’s no way that I would ever be a cheerleader,” he said as he shook his head.

“Oh yeah? Well then why are you dressed like one?”

He looked down and was shocked to see that he was no longer wearing the pink dress. Now he was attired in a cute little cheerleader’s outfit.

“Huh? Why am I wearing this? This isn’t what I was wearing before.”

“It’s what you were wearing when you came into the cafeteria. And it’s what I saw you wearing on the bus earlier.”

“No, no,” he said as he shook his head. “I wasn’t wearing this on the bus. I was wearing a pink dress.”

Dirk looked around and spotted Janice a short distance away.

“Hey Janice, can you come over here a minute?”

She walked over and smiled when she saw Jenny.

“Oh hey there. So Jenny, did he ask you to the dance yet?”

“No, and I’m not going to,” Dirk said. “But you were on the bus this morning with Jenny. What was she wearing then?”

“She was wearing the same thing she’s go on now, her cheerleader’s uniform.”

“Okay, thank you. You can go.”

“Okay,” she said with a confused look as she began to walk away.

“You see?” Dirk said. “You’ve been wearing that uniform all day. Janice just confirmed it. Why are you acting so weird?”

“I am not acting weird. It’s everyone else who is,” he said as he began to get angry.

“Yeah yeah, everyone else is weird and you’re the only normal one. That’s a laugh. Whey don’t you stop all this kidding around and just be serious for once.”

“I am being serious. It’s just that everything around me keeps changing. Before today I had never worn dresses before. And now I got a closet full of them.”

“Are you kidding? You’ve worn dresses for years, just like a lot of the other girls in school. You’re talking very weird Jenny. I know this has to be some kind of trick to get me to take you to the dance but I already told you that I’m not going to do it. I will never take you to the dance and I will never be your boyfriend.”

Tears started to roll down James’ cheeks as he slammed the table again.

“That’s not what this is about. Why do boys have to be so stupid? I wouldn’t go to the dance with you if you were the last boy on Earth!”

He quickly got up from the table and dashed out of the room as the tears continued to flow. He ran down the hall and went into the first bathroom that he saw which just happened to be the girls room. He went over to a sink and then fell to the floor on his knees as he raised his hands to his face and continued to cry. A couple of girls in the washroom walked over to him and put their hands on his shoulders.

“What’s the matter Jenny? Why are you crying?”

“Oh it’s that stupid Dirk. I went to talk to him about a problem that I’ve got and he just thinks that I’m trying to get him to take me to the dance. He didn’t believe me. He’s such a jerk. I hate him. I hate all boys. I wish we didn’t have to go to school with a bunch of stupid boys.”

He was feeling very upset and angry and he was having a hard time controlling his emotions. One of the girls left the room and she came back a few minutes later with the school nurse. The nurse reached down and took him by the hand.

“Come along dear. Let’s get you off the floor and to some place more comfortable.”

He continued to cry all the way to the nurse’s office. When he sat down on a chair she handed him a box of tissues.

“Here you go, just dry your eyes and try to calm down.”

“Thank you,” he said as he took out several tissues and tried to dry his eyes.

“Would you like me to call your parents and see if they will come to get you?” the nurse asked.

He sniffled and nodded his head. “Yes please. I don’t know why I got so emotional and angry. It’s just that… that… that stupid boy!” he said as he started to cry all over again. “Why doesn’t he like me?”

The nurse put her hand on his shoulder and started to pat it.

“There, there, sweetie. It does no good to think about that. Boys are always going to act like boys and you will have to get used to that. They don’t behave like you or me.”

The nurse went over to the phone and a short time later his mother came to the school. He was still feeling a little upset as he got into the car.

“It sounds like you had a very rough day in school. Would you like to talk about it?”

“It’s just some stuff that happened between me and Dirk.”

“Oh yes, the boy that you wanted to go to the school dance with. What’s the matter? Didn’t he ask you?”

“No, he didn’t. In fact he said that he never ever would ask me and that he never wants to be my boyfriend.”

He started to cry again.

“And I don’t know why I feel so upset about it or why I can’t stop crying.”

“Well that’s very simple dear. It just means that you have a crush on him. You’re in love with him.”

“No, I can’t be in love with him. We’re just friends. But he doesn’t even see me as a friend. He only sees me as Jenny.”

“Well dear, that’s who you are. You’re my beautiful daughter and I love you.”

“Everyone keeps treating me like a girl,” he wailed. As he cried he felt his whole body begin to tingle and he started to feel very queasy. As he looked around it looked like the whole world was out of focus. A few seconds later things went back into focus.

“What’s the matter dear? You don’t look very good. Are you feeling sick?”

“I thought I felt like throwing up but I feel a little better now.”

“Maybe you are coming down with something. Perhaps we should make a stop at the doctor’s office. I don’t think you are having your first period yet.”

“Period? What’s that?”

“It’s just something that eventually happens to all little girls. It’s the first stop of them becoming young ladies.”

“But I’m not a real little girl. I just look like one. I’m really a boy.”

His mother frowned and shook her head.

“Okay, now I’m sure that you need to see your doctor. It’s a good thing we aren’t too far from her.”

He wasn’t sure why his mother was so worried about him. As they headed to the doctor’s office his mother kept feeling his forehead. A short time later they were there and when they went inside his mother went up to the receptionist.

“Hello, I don’t have an appointment but I think there is something wrong with my daughter. Can we please see the doctor?”

They were ushered into a small waiting room and as they waited he turned and looked at his mother.

“I don’t have that queasy feeling anymore. I’m feeling better now.”

“Just the same I still think you should talk to the doctor.”

The door opened and the doctor stepped into the room. She looked to be a little bit older than the nurse at school. The two adults began to speak quietly to each other in the corner of the room. As they did James turned and noticed a mirror on the wall. His mouth opened wide in amazement when he saw his reflection. What he saw when he looked at himself was a very cute girl with long hair that went way past his shoulders. It looked like there were more pink streaks in it than before. In addition to that he was no longer wearing a cheerleader’s uniform. Now he was wearing another pink dress that was even shorter than the last one he had on.

“Oh no, my hair. It’s gotten longer. And my dress has gotten shorter. Now I really look more like a girl. And what happened to the cheerleader’s uniform that I had on?”

The two adults stopped talking and the doctor walked over to him.

“Hello Jenny. Your mother has been telling me that you had a very unpleasant experience at school today. Would you like to tell me about it?”

“Well I just had an argument with a boy, but that’s not important. Look at my hair. Look how long it is.”

“Yes it’s very nice. I believe it was this length when I saw you last month. And I complimented you on your pretty pink streaks.”

“But my hair just got this long. It used to come down to my shoulders. It was that length when mommy picked me up at school.”

The doctor nodded and pulled out her stethoscope. “I see, so you think your hair used to be shorter. And your mother tells me that you also think that you are a boy. Is that true?”

“Yes, that’s true. I only look and dress like a girl but that’s because everyone thinks that I just associate with being a girl even though I was born a boy.”

“I see, and how long have you felt that you were born a boy?”

“I felt that way all my life. That’s because I am a boy.”

“And do you know the difference between a boy and a girl?”

“Yes, a boy has a boy part down there and a girl has a girl one.”

“Okay, then would you please take off your clothes and show me your boy part.”

He looked up at his mother and she simply nodded her head.

“It’s all right dear. Do as the doctor tells you.”

He took off his dress and then he started to pull down his panties. And when they were off he was shocked when he saw what he had down there. His boy part was nowhere to be seen, instead he was now staring at a girl part.

“Eeek!” she shrieked as she looked in horror at what she saw. “But that… that’s a girl part. Where did my boy part go?”

“Jenny, you’ve never had a boy part. You were born a girl and you’ve always been one. Your mother told me about the upsetting incident you had at school and I think that rejection from that boy has caused you to want to deny that you are a girl. You feel that if you were a boy like him that he might like you better.”

“But I am a boy. I’ve always been one.”

She started to cry and as she did she reached over and started to hug her mother.

“I’m afraid mommy,” she said.

“It’s all right dear. Mommy is here for you. You just had a very bad day at school. Why don’t I invite a few of your friends from ballet to come and stay for a sleepover. Maybe if you were with some girls your own age it might help you.”

“But look at me. I’m a girl. I’m not a boy.”

“That’s right sweetie, you’re a very beautiful little girl, and you always have been. You’re my precious little daughter and I never want you to be anything different but the sweet little girl that you are.”

She turned and looked at the doctor.

“Do you think it is okay to take her home?”

“Yes, she just had a very stressful day at school. I will prescribe her something to help calm her down.”

Her mother turned and looked at her.

“Okay dear, you can now get dressed. It’s not proper for a girl your age to walk around outside with no clothes on.”

She slowly got dressed as her mother finished talking to the doctor in the outer hallway.

“I don’t understand it. I just don’t understand it,” she said as she finished putting on her dress. “I’m a girl, a real girl. Well I may be a real girl on the outside but I am going to stay a real boy on the inside.”

She sniffled as she wiped a tear from her cheek.

“Now that I’m a real girl I bet a lot more things have changed in my life. Oh, I wish mommy would remember the way things used to be.”

A short while later they were back in the car on their way home. Jenny was very confused over the recent change of events. She kept staring down at her groin and kept touching the area to see if her boy part had returned. But every time she touched that area there was no change. Her mother looked over at her.

“Jenny, why do you keep touching yourself down there? Are you feeling any pain?”

“No, I was just feeling it to see if it was still there.”

“If what was?”

“My girl part.”

Her mother smiled and sighed. “Yes dear, that will never go away. It’s what you were born with. Do I need to have the talk with you about the difference between boys and girls?”

“No, I already know a lot about boys. I just want to go back to my room.”

“Well even though you may think you know about boys there is still a lot about them that you will need to know. Very soon I think we will have to have the talk.”

“What talk?”

“The talk all mommys have with their little girls. There are things that a little girl needs to know before she becomes a young lady.”

“But I don’t want to become a young lady.”

“Well it is going to happen to you whether you want it or not. All little girls go through certain changes as they get older.”

“I know all about going through changes mommy. My body keeps changing.”

“Yes dear, it does. And it still has some more changes to go through before you are a young lady. But that is all something that we can talk about later.”

It wasn’t too long before they arrived at their house. She unbuckled herself from the car and quickly got out. She dashed into the house and headed to her room.

When she entered her room she noticed that it had changed a lot since she left it that morning. Her bed was now covered with pink sheets and a pink pillowcase. Lying on top of the bed were several plush toy animals including a pink and white bunny. A poster of Mighty Girl was on the wall right next to one featuring Super Poodle. Next to that was a large group of ballet related photos. On a bureau were several trophies and when she looked at them they all had her name and they were dated from the past few years. Every one of them was for excellence in ballet. There were more pictures of her on the wall taken at different ballet recitals.

“I can’t believe that this is my room now. I can’t see a single boy thing in here, it’s all girl stuff.”

She walked over to the table that once had the Mighty Boy comic book that she had recently won. But when she picked it up it was now the first issue of Mighty Girl comics.

“Even my Mighty Boy comic turned into a girl comic.”

She opened the book and flipped through the pages.

“That’s funny. This comic book doesn’t seem to make any sense. Half of the pages are from a Mighty Boy story and the other half are from a Mighty Girl one. Is this some kind of misprint?”

She put the comic down on the table and then looked at the drawing that she won at the comic store.

“Oh no, the drawing has changed again.. I’m still wearing the Mighty Girl costume but now I’ve got long hair just like I do now. But my hair wasn’t that long when he drew this. Everything around me has changed so much.”

She put the drawing back down on the table. She sat down on the bed and reached over and grabbed the pink and white plush bunny. She hugged it close to her body.

“Oh Bun Bun, why did everything have to change? Why did I have to become a girl?”

She hugged the bunny even tighter and then held it in front of her face and then kissed it on the nose.

“I’m so scared Bun Bun. What am I going to do?”

She hugged the bunny again and as she did she slowly started to shake her head.

“Wait a minute. Why am I hugging this bunny? And why am I calling him Bun Bun? I’ve never seen this bunny before but somehow I feel like I’ve known him a long time. Oh no, I think I’m having a Jenny memory. I remember mommy buying me Bun Bun for my fifth birthday. Oh, this memory feels just as real as my boy ones do.  What will happen if I get more of them and I can’t tell the difference between my memories and Jenny’s?”

She put the bunny tenderly back down on the bed.

“You wait for me here Bun Bun and I will come back for you later after I figure this all out. But first I had better change into my swimsuit and go outside like mommy said.”

As she stood up from her bed she raised her arm and started to scratch her head.

“Did I always call her mommy when I was a boy? I’m not really sure. It feels normal to call her mommy but I have a funny feeling that I called her something else before. What was it? Was it momma or mom? Or maybe it’s always been mommy and I’m just still confused about things because I got changed to a girl.”

She started to get undressed. When she took off her panties she took another look down at her groin.

“I don’t think I’m ever going to see a boy part down there again. It’s just not fair.”

She opened the dresser drawer and pulled out a swimsuit. She was surprised when she pulled out a pink two piece swimsuit.

“I don’t remember seeing a two piece in here before. The last time I looked I only had one piece swimsuits.”

She looked through the drawer a lot more closely but she was unable to find any one piece swimsuits. The only thing in there were two piece ones. She sighed as she put it on. When she was done she turned and looked in her mirror.

“Golly wolly, just look at how much of my body is showing. This swimsuit hardly covers anything.”

Then she patted her flat chest.

“And why do I even have to wear something on top? It’s not like I got anything that needs to be covered.”

She kept looking at her reflection as she turned from side to side.

“Girls wear the silliest looking things.”

She left her room and had just gotten to the back door when her mother called out to her.

“Jenny, before you go out I want you to take one of these pills.”

She turned and her mother handed her a pill and a glass of water.

“What is this for?” she asked.

“It’s just something the doctor prescribed for you. It should help you feel more relaxed.”

She popped the pill in her mouth and washed it down with a drink of water. Her mother smiled as she took the empty glass from her.

“That’s a good girl. And how are you feeling? I see that you picked out your favorite swimsuit to wear.”

“Well I was going to wear a one piece swimsuit but I couldn’t find one in my room.”

“Oh, I don’t think you have any of those anymore. The last time I saw you wear a one piece swimsuit was when you were seven or eight. You’ve only been wearing a two piece the past couple of years. But if you really want a one piece we can go shopping for a new one.”

“No, that’s okay. If I got one it might not be here the next time something changes.”

“I don’t know what you expect to change. I hope you’re still not thinking about the thing you were talking about at the doctor’s office. About how you used to be a boy. You do know that that is impossible. You were born a girl and you will always be female. When you get older you might get married and become a mommy too.”

When she heard that she started to get a little nervous.

“Me a mommy? Oh I don’t want to think about that right now.”

“You don’t have to think about it if you don’t want to. Oh, before you go outside let me adjust your top a little.”

She reached over and pulled down on the bottom of the top.

“There, that’s better.”

“Can I ask you something mommy?”

“Of course dear. You can ask me anything you want.”

“Why do I have to wear a top to my swimsuit. It doesn’t really cover anything. Why can’t I go topless like boys do?”

“Because all girls have to wear a top. It may not cover anything now but before you know it your breasts will begin to grow and you can’t walk around with them uncovered. Boys don’t develop breasts like girls do.”

“Breasts? You mean like the ones that you have?”

“They may eventually look like mine but they will start off small because you are still a young girl. It’s all part of growing up and changing from a little girl to a young lady.”

“But why do girls get breasts?”

“The most important reason why we have them is so that we can use them to feed our babies. When you become a mommy you can breast feed your baby just like I did you.”

“I don’t remember being breast fed.”

“No, you wouldn’t. You were just a baby then. But breast feeding their babies is just one of the many things that a mommy does for her children. It’s nice that you are full of questions but maybe you should go outside for awhile.”

“Yes, that is a good idea. Maybe I will go lie down on a chair for a little while. I’m feeling a little tired.”

“Okay, you go get some rest. I will let you know when it is time to come back inside.”

When she went outside she found that things were pretty much the way they always had been. The only things different is that there was a pink two wheeled bicycle in the yard, and a large bright pink towel lying on the top of a lounge chair. She went to the lounge chair and laid down on it.

“Mommy says that I’ve always been a girl but I don’t remember any of it. But everything around me belongs to Jenny. And that’s who everyone says I am. So why can’t I remember being Jenny? Everyone else remembers her, but not me.”

She yawned and started to close her eyes as she began to get a little sleepy. She didn’t know how long she had been asleep but the next thing she knew she felt someone holding her arm and shaking her. When she opened her eyes she saw Dirk looking down at her.

“Dirk! What are you doing here?”

“I heard that you weren’t feeling well and I wanted to come over and see how you were doing. You seemed pretty upset when you left the cafeteria today.”

“Of course I was upset. You were the one who upset me.”

“Me? Why did I upset you? Just because I told you that I don’t want to take ballet lessons with you. You’ve been asking me to take ballet for almost a year and I keep telling you that I’m not into dancing like you are.”

“But that isn’t what we were talking about,” she said.

“Uh yeah it was. That’s the only thing we were talking about. You asked me to take ballet and I said no.”

“No, we were talking about the school dance and also about me being a boy.”

“You? A boy? Why would we talk about that? You can’t be a boy, you’re a girl. And why would we talk about the dance? I told you last week that I would take you to the dance.”

“You did? Last week? But I thought you said that you would never go on a date with me.”

“We’ve gone out on dates several times. You’re my girlfriend and I’m your boyfriend. We’re supposed to go out on dates. You may be one of the cutest girls in school Jenny but you can also be one of the silliest girl too.”

“Wait, we’re boyfriend and girlfriend?”

“Yeah, of course. But I can’t hang around here any longer. I promised my mom that I wouldn’t be here too long. I just wanted to stop by and make sure that you were okay.”

He leaned over and kissed her on the cheek.

“Feel better and I will see you in school.”

He turned and headed for the back gate. As he walked away she smiled and placed her hand on her cheek.

“He kissed me. That means he really likes me. I don’t know why that makes me feel so good but it does. And just look at that cute butt of his. It’s so adorable. Wait, why am I looking at his butt? And why am I so happy that he kissed me?”

She shook her head a few more times.

“He remembers things different about lunch time. The past must have changed again for that too. Since I’ve always been a girl then he would acted differently to me at lunch because I wasn’t a boy who acted like a girl. But I remember it different than he does. Is he right or am I? If I ask mommy she would say it was him because nobody remembers things that I do.”

At that moment her mother opened the back door and stuck her head out.

“Jenny, time to come in and get dressed. Your friends should be here soon.”

She got up from the lounge chair and kept rubbing her cheek as she stepped into the house. Her mother gave her a puzzled look as she walked by.

“Are you feeling alright sweet heart? Is there something wrong with your cheek?”

“No, I was just rubbing it because… because Dirk kissed me there.”

“Oh, well wasn’t that nice of him to stop by and see you. He’s such a nice boy and I’m so glad that the two of you are seeing each other.”

“I don’t know if I will ever get used to any of this,” she said.

“Any of what dear?”

“Nothing mommy. I’m going to my room to change.”

It wasn’t until she got to her room that she suddenly realized something.

“Dirk didn’t say anything about how I look in my swimsuit. Maybe he doesn’t like it.”

Then she shook her head.

“Wait, why do I even care what he thinks about what I’ve got on?”

She stopped and took a look in the mirror. She ran her hands along the side of her body.

“I never imagined that I would ever wear such a skimpy swimsuit but for some reason I like how it looks on me. But even though I like how I look in it, I still care what other people think too.”

As she continued to admire her reflection she started to smile.

“Pink is such a pretty color. My favorite color used to be blue but I think I like pink a lot more.”

After staring at her reflection for several more minutes she finally took off her swimsuit. As she turned and looked at her bed she spotted something lying on top of it. She walked over and saw that it was a Mighty Girl costume. She picked it up and looked at it more closely.

“I guess it won’t hurt to try this on again. After all, I am president of the Mighty Girl fan club.”

She quickly put on the costume and then she looked at her reflection again in the mirror.

“Oh, this is a much cuter costume than the one that Mighty Boy wears.”

She turned around and looked at herself from several different angles.

At that moment there was a knock on the door. A few seconds later the door opened and a familiar figure stepped into the room. It was the blonde hair boy from her ballet class, and he was wearing a Mighty Boy costume.

“I know you,” she said. “You’re the boy from ballet class. And I saw you somewhere before. Oh yeah, you were also at the comic book store.”

“That’s right, and I know you too. You’re Jimmy.”

Jenny’s mouth popped wide open.

“You just called me Jimmy! You’re the first person I met who remembers that name.”

“Well it is the name that you had when you won the comic book. Of course back then you looked quite a bit different than you do now.”

“Yes, I did.”

“Changing from boy to girl will do that,” he said as he picked up the comic book.

“You remember that I was a boy? I thought I was the only one who remembered that. I was beginning to think that it was just a dream.”

“Nope, it wasn’t a dream. You were a boy named Jimmy and now you’re a girl named Jenny.”

He looked at the comic book in his hands.

“Ah, I see that the cover has changed from Mighty Boy to Mighty Girl, and based on the costume that you are wearing I would have to guess that you are now a fan.”

“Well yes, and I’m more than just a fan, I’m president of her fan club. But how is it that you remember all of this stuff? I thought I was the only one who did.”

Instead of answering her, the boy opened the comic book and flipped through the pages.

“A-ha, this explains a lot. Only the cover has changed but half of the inside is still a Mighty Boy comic. Only half of the interior has changed to Mighty Girl.”

“What has that comic book have to do with anything? And why do you remember me being a boy?”

“You’re so full of questions,” he said with a grin. “That doesn’t sound like a typical Jenny.”

“What do you mean typical Jenny? Why won’t you answer me? Who are you?”

He smiled as he looked at her.

“Well I guess it won’t hurt to answer your questions. Once you go total Jenny you won’t remember what I’ve told you.”

“Why wouldn’t I remember. I remember everything about being a boy.”

“Well you think you remember everything about being a boy but there are a couple of Jenny’s memories mixed in there as well as a couple of her traits. But once this comic book totally changes to a Mighty Girl comic book on the inside, that is when you will become Jenny completely. Both on the inside and outside, just like the comic book you will be transformed, with all of Jenny’s memories and traits.”

“That’s impossible. A comic book can’t change anybody.”

“Normal comic books can’t, but this one is far from normal. When the comic book started to change into a Mighty Girl book then that is when your life began to change. As your body began to accept those changes it powered the book and also caused changes to the book. The two of you are linked. The more the book becomes a Mighty Girl comic the more you transform into Jenny and vice versa. It’s the vice versa part that is the really fun part of all this.”

He started to chuckle and she couldn’t understand why.

“But why me?”

“Don’t know, don’t care,” he said with a shrug. “I just do as I’m instructed. But I can tell you that you aren’t the first James to get transformed into Jenny and you are not the last.”

“But I was happy being who I was.”

“And you will be very happy being Jenny. In fact you will be a lot more happier as Jenny than you ever would have been as James.”

“I doubt that,” she said solemnly. “Just look at the clothes that I’ve got to wear.”

“I thought you said that you liked the outfit that you have on, and earlier you said that you loved the bikini you had on.”

“That’s true, I do, but how do you know all that? You weren’t here. And I shouldn’t like those things. They are all girl clothes.”

“And that is what you are, a girl. It’s just that your mind hasn’t accepted it yet. You haven’t allowed the Jenny inside of you to take control.”

“And I won’t let her take control of me. Maybe if I can keep control of my body I can get things to change back to the way they were.”

“I guess that might be possible,” the boy said with a shrug. “But look at how much better off you are by being a girl.”

“What’s so great about being a girl?”

“Well you like to dance and you’re a fantastic ballet dancer. You’re the best in the class. You are the most beautiful and graceful girl in class.”

“Really?” she said as she started to smile. “Do you really think I’m the most beautiful and graceful dancer in class?  I thought I did a pretty good job too. It just felt kinda natural to dance like that. And did you see all the trophies that I won for dancing?”

“Yes I did. I guess that makes you feel pretty happy that you’re such an amazing dancer.”

“Well I guess it is alright, I mean, yes, it does feel great dancing in front of everyone. And I also like being with all my friends in class.”

“Oh, so all of the girls in the class are your friends?”

The boy casually opened the comic and smiled when he saw another page transform from a Mighty Boy page to a Mighty Girl one.

“Yes, of course they are my friends. They are all very nice girls.”

“I’m sure they are, just like you. And you’re not just a great dancer but you look extremely cute in your ballet outfit. And you’re just as cute in your Mighty Girl outfit.”

Jenny smiled even more and started to giggle as he continued to compliment her.

“Oh it’s so nice to hear you say that. I guess I do like my ballet clothes. I actually have a lot of very pretty clothes.”

“Well a pretty girl deserves to have a lot of pretty clothes.”

Jenny giggled again. “Oh, when you said that I was pretty it made me feel really good inside. And I do like this costume. I think it is very cute. I think that’s why I like her comic books so much.”

“And I heard that Dirk is going to be taking you to the dance. I bet that makes you feel pretty happy. He must be a pretty good boyfriend. A pretty boyfriend for such a pretty, pretty girl.”

Jenny loved hearing the word pretty and she couldn’t stop smiling as he kept repeating it.

“Yes, I was surprised when I found out that he wanted to take me. I never thought that I would ever want a boyfriend but I feel different about him than I do about other boys. He’s so cute, and he’s got such a cute butt. You know, now that I look at you more closely I can’t help but notice how cute you are too.”

“Thanks, but I won’t be around here much longer. I think my job is coming to a close soon,” he said as he glanced again at the comic and saw another page change to a Mighty Girl one.

“I think there were some questions that I wanted to ask you but I’m having trouble remembering what they were. Do you remember?”

“Yes, you were wondering who I am and why this comic book is so important.”

“Oh yes, that’s right. I forgot,” she said, but then her smile turned to a frown.

“Wait, I know what you are doing. You’re trying to trick me by complimenting me. You’re thinking that will make me forget who I am and turn me into Jenny.”

“You’re already Jenny, all you need to do is to let her out completely and allow her to take control. Once she does you will remember this new time line.”

“But why did you change the time line?”

“It was necessary to change your gender, and it had to start at the time of your birth. But that is a drastic change and so it had to be done gradually. First your timeline changed and in that one you had a fascination with girl clothing and ballet. Then it changed again and in that one you were a transgender boy. And then it changed again and that’s when you were actually born as a girl. And every time the timeline changed, everyone’s memories reflected the events of that new timeline. That’s why Dirk behaved to you one way in the transgender timeline but then he acted differently in this timeline. His memories and experiences with you had changed in each timeline. But only you remembered the way things originally were.”

“But why did I have to change gender?”

“Like I said, I don’t know. I’m just a Guardian and I’ve been temporarily assigned to this dimension to help facilitate the change to the timeline. It’s nothing personal. If you want my opinion I think you’re much better off as Jenny.”

“Well I don’t and even though I’m a girl on the outside, I’m still all boy on the inside.”

“That’s not quite true. You are already displaying traits and memories of being a girl. They are minor ones and you aren’t even aware of them.”

“I think I would know if I was acting like a girl.”

“Well there is your fascination with wearing pretty clothes. You have to admit that that’s something you wouldn’t have done when you were a boy.”

“I don’t have any attraction to girls’ clothing.”

“Oh? Well then I guess you won’t mind if I change all your clothes back into boy clothes,” he said as he raised his hand and was about to snap his fingers.

“No! Wait! Don’t do that. Don’t take away all my pretty clothes. I don’t want to lose all my pretty dresses and swimsuits or even my Mighty Girl costume.”

“So you really do love all your girl clothes?” he said smiling when he saw how emotional she got over the prospect of losing all of her cute girl clothing.

“Yes, ok, I admit it. I do, but just because I like to wear pretty clothes that doesn’t mean that I’m anything like Jenny.”

The boy smiled as he grabbed the pink and white plush bunny from her bed.

“Well then I guess that means that you won’t mind if I take this back with me. After all, it belongs to Jenny, not to Jimmy.”

He turned and was about to head to the door when she held up both hands.

“No, you can’t take Bun Bun away from me. He’s my favorite. And who would I have to talk to when I’m feeling sad or confused?”

He continued smiling as he placed it back down on her bed.

“So it’s not just Jenny’s clothes that you like. You also like her other stuff as well.”

“That doesn’t prove anything. The most important thing is that I still have all my boy memories. And that’s what makes me a boy inside.”

“Really? Okay, tell me, when you have to pee do you do it sitting down?”

“Of course I sit down when I have to go pee-pee. That’s how I’ve always done it. How else would I do it?”

“Pretty much all boys do it standing up. Only girls have to sit to pee.”

“No, that… that’s not true. It can’t be. Let me think about it for a few seconds. I definitely remember always sitting down to go pee-pee. And then I always wipe my girl part before putting my panties back on. That can’t be a girl memory.”

“Sure sounds like one to me.”

She had a confused look on her face and then she shook her head.

“No, this has to be another one of your tricks. Well I won’t let you trick me again. I will never let Jenny out. I may be a girl on the outside but I will stay a girl on the inside. No, that doesn’t sound right. I mean a boy, I will stay a boy on the inside.”

“I guess you outsmarted me,” he said with a sly grin. “But before I go how about I show you something I think you will like.”

He raised his left hand and then snapped his fingers and a second later he was holding a blonde haired baby in his arms. The baby was wrapped in a tiny blue blanket and he was crying.

“How would you like to hold a real baby?” he asked as he offered her the crying baby.

“Well, maybe, I guess,” she said. “But if I do, will you change me back into a boy?”

The baby continued to cry as the mystery boy slowly nodded his head.

“Okay, before I leave I will ask you one time if you want to be a boy, and if you answer yes then I will change you back. Does that sound fair to you?”

“I guess so. I don’t see how this can be a trick. Okay I will hold the baby.”

The mystery boy handed the baby to her and after a few seconds of being held in her arms the baby stopped crying.

“Oh, he stopped crying. What a cute baby. I’ve never held a baby before. Look at how adorable he is.”

She touched the baby’s nose and he started to make playful gurgling sounds.

“He likes that. Oh, he’s so beautiful. Who does he belong to? Who is his mommy?”

“His mommy? Oh that’s easy,” the mystery boy said with a grin. “You are.”

Jenny suddenly looked away from the baby and stared at the mystery boy.

“What? Why… why did you say that? This can’t be my baby. I’m too young to have a baby.”

“Well what I should say is that one day he will be your baby. Many years from now you will be a young woman and at that time you will get married. Shortly after that you will give birth to your first child, and that is who you are holding right now. You see how comfortable he feels in your arms. Even at that age you are now he can still sense that you are his mother. And somewhere inside of you I believe you can sense that he is yours.”

Jenny looked lovingly at the baby.

“Yes, I do feel something inside of me. I do feel a very strong connection to him. It’s so strange. I never saw him before but somehow I feel that he is mine.”

“Most mothers do have a unique bond with their children. It’s easy to see that he loves you.”

“Yes and I love him a lot too. Wait, are you saying that I’m going to grow up and become a mommy one day?”

“Yes, you will. Oh, but only if you remain as Jenny. You see, boys can’t have babies.”

Jimmy could feel himself losing control of his body as the spirit of Jenny grew stronger because of her love for the baby.

“Oh this isn’t fair. You did trick me. I can… I can feel Jenny. She’s becoming a lot more stronger Too strong. I feel like… she wants… she… she… I… I want. Yes, I want to be a mommy one day.”

A broad smile appeared on her face as Jenny’s true self burst to the surface.

“Oh, he’s the most beautiful baby ever, and he’s all mine. I’m going to love him and feed him and be such a real good mommy to him. Oh, and you said that he is going to be my first baby. So that means I’m going to have more. Isn’t that right?”

“Yes, but I can’t tell you how many. Some things are best left as a surprise,” the boy said as he picked up the comic book and started to leaf through it.

“He’s so beautiful,” Jenny said. “He reminds me of the first dolly that my mommy gave me when I was real little. That was even before I started to take ballet.”

A rush of happy girl memories began to pour into Jenny’s mind as she continued to look at the baby in her arms. She was unaware of all of her boy memories that were quickly being overridden by her new girl ones. As these memories took hold in her brain the mystery boy noticed the interior pages changing quickly into Mighty Girl pages. When the last page finally changed he closed the comic and smiled.

“Mission accomplished. And now Jenny I think it is time that I take the baby from you.”

“Oh, do you have to take him so soon?”

“Yes, he has to go back to his mommy now,” the boy said as he took the baby from her.

“Okay, but when can I get to see him again?”

“Not for quite a while,” he replied. “But don’t worry. I promise that the next time you see him that you will be able to spend a lot more time with him. And don’t worry, even now your memory about the baby is starting to fade away from your memory. Can’t have you remembering things that haven’t happened yet.’

He snapped his fingers and the baby disappeared. When he looked back at Jenny she was busy admiring herself in the mirror.

“La, la, la. Pretty, pretty, pretty.”

“Looks like you really love your Mighty Girl costume.”

“Yes I do. I love all of my clothes.”

She turned back and looked at him.

“I’m sorry, I don’t remember why you are here.”

The boy smiled as he examined the comic book in his hand. All of the interior pages were for a Mighty Girl comic. Jenny’s old memories of the previous time line where she was a boy were now all erased from her mind and were now replaced with ones of her growing up as Jenny.

“Oh, well I just came by to say hello and to ask if you happened to know a friend of mine. His name is Jimmy.”

Jenny thought for a moment and then shook her head.

“Jimmy? No, I don’t know anyone with that name. But if that is all you want then it is time that you should go. I have to get ready because my boyfriend Dirk is coming over. He’s such a cute boy.”

“Okay, not a problem,” he said as he started to go to the doorway. “Oh and one final question. If you had the chance to be a boy would you like to become one?”

Jenny laughed as she twirled around.

“No, why would I ever want to be a boy? I’m a girl and girls are much prettier than boys. I would never ever want to be a boy.”

“Okay, just thought I would ask. I made a promise that I would. Well Jenny, it was nice meeting you, again.”

“Again? Did we ever meet before?”

“Not in this timeline. And once I’m gone you won’t even remember that you met me in this or any other timeline.”

“What’s a timeline? Well, whatever it is I know that I would never forget meeting a cute boy. When I was younger I used to think boys were yucky but now I think that some of them are really cute. You’re a cute boy and you look really cute in that costume.”

“Oh, well if you like it so much why don’t you give it to your boyfriend.”

He snapped his fingers and he was suddenly wearing a skin tight skunk costume with a very bushy tail. The Mighty Boy costume was now lying on top of her bed.

“I won’t be needing that outfit anymore. So give it to him with my compliments. I’m sure the two of you will make a cute couple together dressed up as your favorite comic book characters.”

She started to giggle. “Thank you. I can’t wait to see him in it.”

“I’m sure you can’t,” he said as he opened up her closet door. “Well enjoy your life Jenny. Time for me to go to my next assignment. Based on what I have to wear for it I think it has an animal theme to it.”

He stepped into the closet and closed the door. Jenny started to giggle again.

“What a silly boy. That’s my closet he just went into.”

As she placed her hand on the closet door handle she felt a slight tingling sensation as the new timeline became permanent. She opened the door and looked at the closet full of clothes.

“That’s funny. Why did I open this door? It’s like I wanted to get something from here but I can’t remember what it was.”

Then she looked down and spotted something on the floor.

“Oh, it’s a Mighty Girl comic,” she said as she picked it up. “What is this doing in here?”

She opened the book and leafed through it.

“Oh I remember this issue. This is the story where the bad boy Jim E tries to take over the world but Mighty Girl stops him. And there he is in the last panel locked away where he can never escape.”

Jenny didn’t realize it but the boy in the last panel looked exactly like her former boy self. She then turned around and looked at her bed. She placed the comic book on the nightstand and smiled as she reached over and grabbed the pink and white plush bunny.

“Hello Bun Bun. Don’t you think I look pretty dressed up as Mighty Girl? My ballet teacher said that I’m going to dance the lead role in this month’s recital and this one is going to be a superhero theme. And I’m going to dance dressed up as Mighty Girl. I just love ballet so much Bun Bun.”

She continued to hold the bunny as she did several graceful twirls around the room. When she was done she placed it back down on her bed.

“That’s enough dancing for now.”

She then looked at the foot of the bed and then smiled when she saw the Mighty Boy costume lying there.

“Oh goody. Mommy must have bought that Mighty Boy costume for me to give to Dirk. I’ve been asking her to get one so the two of us can pretend to be superheroes. I can’t wait for him to get here so I can give it to him. I really wish that he would take ballet so we can get to dance together. He would look so cute in tights.”

She giggled a she headed back to the mirror. She smiled as she gazed at her reflection.

“I really love my costume. I think I’m probably the luckiest girl in world. I can’t imagine my life being any different.”

The end of this James and the beginning of yet another Jenny.

James wakes up in a dimension where he's Jimmy... no Jenny, the girliest boy ever and he's the only one who doesn't wanna play along with this pink unicorn fairy madness. Does he even have a chance of convincing anybody he's just a normal boy? Or will he end up giving into his new reality?

Aw, another James becomes Jenny. Such a wonderful story and I'm surprised that there aren't very many comments about it. Now the Mighty Boy illustration you posted last week makes sense. I can't wait to see how you end up illustrating the rest of the story. So many good parts but I don't want to mention any of them because I don't want to give away any surprises. Just want to say kudos for another spectacular TG story.
