TL;DR: I got a new kitten, my routine has been total chaos, I disappeared for a bit, but I’m slowly getting back to reality. Let me explain everything in detail! 😅

–––––

Hey patronites! 🥰 I have some news to share 🥺 (that you might have already seen on IG)Our family has grown! ❤️ We got a new kitten, and her name is Gao!💜

I had actually already planned on getting a second cat and had pre-reserved a kitten from the same cattery where I got Dasha. But at the time, there were no available kittens, so I was just waiting for a new litter.

Then, I started feeling like Dasha really needed a companion. She was getting more and more lonely and needy, and I could tell she was craving company 😭 That’s when I decided to cancel my pre-reservation and look for a kitten that could join us right away. And then, something unexpected happened…The breeder told me that one kitten had been left behind because the original adopter had to move abroad and couldn’t pick her up 🥺 Gao was waiting for a home all these months, and everything seemed to fall into place at the perfect time.

→ More coincidences that made this feel like fate ✨

I had already noticed Gao in the breeder’s Instagram posts before, because I loved her mom and thought the kittens were adorable 🥺

Just a week before talking to the breeder, I randomly told Edu, "What if we got a Siamese instead of an Oriental?" (And guess what? Gao is a Siamese 🤏)

Dasha and Gao have the same father! So, they’re actually half-sisters 🥺

I messaged the breeder the day before the scheduled pet transport, which only happens once a month!!! If I had waited any longer, I would have had to wait another whole month to bring her home

The pet transport company is actually from Caxias do Sul, and the last stop on their route was here!

Gao arrived on a holiday (Carnival), which meant we had plenty of time to focus on her adjustment 🥺 if it happened at any other time, it would be much more complicated

So that’s how Gao came home! She’s a BluePoint Siamese (Oriental Shorthair), quite big for her age, with a little droopy-eyed expression 🥺 and a deep, raspy meow that weirdly reminds me of a crow 😂 And why "Gao" you may ask? Because her first meows sounded like she was saying “Gyaoh” That was literally the inspiration for her name 😂 lmao

Anyways... Even though I was really happy that Gao was finally here, I felt so weird emotionally on the first day. It was like… nothing felt real 💔I had Lia for so long that bringing a new animal into the family without introducing them to her just felt wrong somehow. The dynamic in the house changed completely, and I felt overwhelmed 😭

Abrupt changes in my routine completely throw me off, and I need structure to feel grounded. Not having Lia here to help me adjust... to bring that comfort and sense of reality that she always did, made everything harder 🙁 When I feel this way, I lose my sense of direction completely. Even basic daily tasks feel confusing, and I struggle to complete them properly. It’s frustrating and hard to explain, but that’s how my brain works 😅

Luckily, with each passing day, I’ve been settling into a new rhythm with Dasha and Gao. It’s still an adjustment, but I know it’ll be worth it in the end.

But moving back to the topic, today we had a huge milestone! 🎉 For the first time, I left them in the same room together! I opened the kitchen door and let Gao explore the rest of the house 🙀 There were good moments and bad moments, but overall, we made A LOT of progress today! 🥹 Seeing them slowly getting used to each other gives me hope that they’ll find their balance soon ❤️

This whole process has definitely affected my week a lot. Between keeping an eye on both cats, making sure Gao is adjusting well, and ensuring Dasha doesn’t feel left out, I’ve been exhausted 😭 But it’s also been exciting, and I know it’ll be worth it once they become friends (or at least tolerate each other lol 😅)

I’ll keep you all updated on how things go! Wish me luck with this introduction process because I’m gonna need it 😂

Have you ever introduced new cats before? Let me know if you have any tips! 💜

Never doubt what an amazing mama you were and are, both to Lia as well as Dasha and now Gao. I hope you all have many wonderful years and even more wonderful memories together. 🥹 The disruption to your routines and the feeling of disorientation makes sense to me. I think you're handling everything beautifully. 🤗

Alright text wall incoming “Even though I was really happy that Gao was finally here, I felt so weird emotionally on the first day. It was like… nothing felt real 💔 I had Lia for so long that bringing a new animal into the family without introducing them to her just felt wrong somehow. The dynamic in the house changed completely, and I felt overwhelmed 😭 “””””Abrupt changes in my routine completely throw me off”””””(emphasizing this one as that’s some hardcore Vedo right there) “””””and I need structure to feel grounded”””” “Not having Lia here to help me adjust... to bring that comfort and sense of reality that she always did, made everything harder 🙁 When I feel this way, I lose my sense of direction completely. Even basic daily tasks feel confusing, and I struggle to complete them properly. It’s frustrating and hard to explain, but that’s how my brain works 😅” I think it’s a few things here as this reminded me of the previous post you did of talking philosophy , it’s the feeling of longing, because your so used to “order” “structure” and “routine”, that this is the first time where Lia senpai is missing from the routine, so it’s like a missing piece of the usual Vedo track so the Vedo car starts to tilt a tad on the Vedo course (Im sure Lia senpai was watching the introduction from afar and smiling like usual though 🥹) To use your words from that post, it’s “the impulse, to control” since word for Vedo word “Abrupt changes in my routine completely throw me off” It’s something spontaneous, a spontaneous element (as you got this cat right away) in a regime that your typically very used to keeping highly under control, mixed with a dab of introspection thinking about how this is the first post Lia senpai addition to the family. The Vedo brain starts to race off going “how will my daughter adjust, how will we adjust, how will gao sama take to the new home” (and probably 590 different other questions) Mixed in with the motherly lovey dovey instincts kicking in again over seeing your daughter feel lonely. Mixed in with your desire for firm controlled structure so hence making sure to dedicate your time that the two sisters are able to tolerate each other

Miles

Mixed in with a sense of control Mixed in with a sense of structure so that things like other habits go the Vedo way and meld with the Vedo structure It all makes perfect sense to me 🤷‍♂️, take a breath, celebrate your progress 🤗, and take it day by day creating the new sense of normalcy

On a lighter note “Dasha and Gao have the same father! So, they’re actually half-sisters 🥺 “ Tell ya what though. The odds of that happening that you picked up gao sama and she’s dasha sister, that means this was meant to happen I think 🥹
