(Maybe a hot take for some, so please don’t come after me haha): It’s refreshing to see you guys reacting to BTS after you’ve been exposed to other groups (e.g., Stray Kids, DAY6), as opposed to how for many others nowadays, BTS / Blackpink are often kind of like their gateway drugs to kpop. Nothing wrong at all with the latter of course, but I feel like you are able to have a more open-minded / holistic view of kpop without being super biased towards the brightness / flashiness / high production value of the more internationally popular groups if that makes sense. As someone who has listened to kpop since 2010 and has seen the industry truly evolve and grow, I love it when new fans are not exclusively attached to those big ticket groups. That all being said, I’m wondering how you think DNA compares to ON (which you reacted to earlier) - I’m slightly partial to DNA myself but actually much prefer their older, pre-2016 discography / eras which are a bit less colorful and flashy. If you ever get to it, as I’m sure you already have a lot on your plate, I’d be keen to see you guys have a listen to earlier BTS content (for me, they peaked album-wise at HYYH part 2).

Hey! Really appreciate the other commenters’ and your responses! :) I’m glad my word vomit resonated with you all. Don’t worry, SKZ is definitely my current favorite group, so I’m all here for watching your journey! I hope I don’t grow out of them in the near future (I used get super attached to a group for 2-3 years and then fall back to being only casual listeners of new releases, but I feel like SKZ might be with me for the long run haha). I would say I Need U was their big break in Korea - super public-friendly and honestly still one of my favorite BTS songs to date. It’s part of the HYYH Part 1 album (released right before Part 2), but yes I think you can consider it as the prelude / start of that peak era I alluded to. Personally, full-album-wise HYYH Part 2 is *chef’s kiss,* but I Need U as a single song was definitely iconic and a good representation of their music from that time. Run, which was the single right after I Need U, is probably my favorite title by them hands down, but I kind of view the former and the latter two halves of a whole - hope this helps? 😄
