After hearing a story from my mother about inexplicable glittering light sources surrounding a spaceship that was returning to Earth and was in danger of burning up re-entering the atmosphere, but was narrowly able to hold together, Imma go with space faeries. Because what other explanation do we have for spaceship suddenly not falling apart (that would've killed the crew) as they thought would happen in the moment? (She used to work for NOAA, National Oceanic and Atmospheric Association. All kinds of unexplained stuff happens that isn't made public.)
