nabeel

thanks bro!

Sloopgamer

I woke up extra early for this. We are here🙏

Abdinur Hussein

Legend, we are finally here. This is the moment every hxh reaction leads to

Aflo

Let’s goooooo

Aflo

Every single person here has many episodes they were waiting for to drop and this is guaranteed one of them absolute CINEMA

Sloopgamer

Finished the reaction. Before going into the discussion portion need to say this. This is my fav reaction from Filmbuff so far personally

Austin

Where's full length?

Sloopgamer
>>162501859

This is full length he kinda shows the entire episode in this version. He just skipped everything that was before the op cause it was just flashbacks to scenes that already happened

Slaaverin

I don't understand people seeing this episode as anything but tragic. Gon aged and powered up yet this feels like a complete loss. It always makes me cry like a baby. Killua screaming "Gooon" is heartbreaking. Killua lost the Gon he knew at that moment and could do nothing to prevent it. The roles completely reversed, Killua became the light and Gon the shadow. This is pure pain. This episode is a masterpiece and the most impactful in all the anime I've watched. It's engraved in my brain and I will never ever forget it. It's a complete subversion of the shonen protagonist. Your discussion was stellar. Thank you so much.

بدر

An all timer reaction! A masterpiece!

M

I like this format more

Aflo
>>162501341

Bro this is seriously legendary there has not been a single reaction since some key attack on Titan episodes that I more anticipated than this. This is one for the books for sure!

FILMBuFF
>>162503245

Oh this is very temporary and a one off, until I can get the other version fixed.

elliot

let's go man, hype!!

Isaac

Glad to share this one with you! One of many iconic FilmBuff reviews, this year

David

I can't believe it's here

Ves

✋😐🤚

Zach

Amazing reaction to a fantastic episode! Highlight of my week for sure.

Sacha

Will always be one of the best anime episodes ever created. I’ll never forget the overwhelming emotions I felt watching this for the first time. And the solid hour I needed outside in silence afterwards to fully process what I had just watched. Killua’s final scream to Gon will haunt me forever.

Ammar gayal

For someone who was able to predict a lot of the story just by actually paying attention to the characters and the expectations of consistent writing, and still hxh still being able to exceeds those expectations was very good to watch. I also like that the discussion was slightly I d say more chaotic than usual, and I don't mean it in a negative way it is just the nature of this episode that it needs quite a bit of time to formulate your thoughts properly. Completely enjoyed the reaction and discussion, can't wait for more. Believe it or not hxh still has more to give. Cheers 🥂

Mahmod Eg

Peak reactor X Peak episode

Zach

I also wanted to ask this question. Hypothetically, how do you think Hisoka would feel if he witnessed Gon's transformation first hand? It's a fun question often posed by the community and I would love to here your (and you guys) take.

Cyonated

waiting for this ep for 17months, well worth

Mahmod Eg

In case of Netro vs Meruem i think even if he used nen condition he wouldn’t gain any more power cause he already reached his ultimate potential unlike Gon

Mykel

Amazing

Ryuma

GODLIKE EPISODE MY GODDDDD

Doodlez

Awesome reactions it has the same energy/feeling like aot´s s3ep16 "perfect game". "I´m a mess" you said back then. Bet a similar feeling aswell hit you after that episode. Also fun fact its the only time killua makes a sound when he walks/runs/jumps to save gon from corpse pitou.

Marcus Watty

116 and 131 my favorite moments in all of anime

Kon

STUDIO MADHOUSE BABY! They deserve all the credit because anything they touch is absolutely gold from: Death Note Hunter x Hunter One Punch Man Parasyte Monster Trigun Perfect Blue Wolf Children Overlord Black Lagoon Hellsing Ultimate Frieren: Beyond Journey's End.

gggunit

remember when Morel got scared for a sec of Gon charging up (imagine i’m pitou lol), yep he even felt it.

Moe

Such a stellar ep and great discussion. It’s cool to think Gon was also calling himself a liar, and that him agonizing over his weakness as a child might’ve contributed to his decision to forcefully age. That gave me more to think about. Poor kids really, so sad to see

Jay

We made it! My favorite episode of Hunter x Hunter. I've been waiting to see your reaction ever since you watched episode 1 and It did not disappoint!! Peak episode x Peak reaction.

nabeel

Whenever I rewatch Hunter x Hunter from the very first episode, Gon’s story feels less like a hero’s journey and more like a tragedy.

FILMBuFF

So it sounds like this episode is the most anticipated of the series for most people eh ?

FILMBuFF

This was the first video I recorded with bit of new look as well, with the Acoustic Slat Wall Panels as the new backdrop. Took a few videos to dial in the lighting and look.

>>162573557

Definitely. Complete culmination of Togashi’s characterization of Gon. To me, all of HXH is amazing but after this point it becomes a real masterpiece. Can’t say much more :(

M
>>162573557

I think so. This is my first time paying for anything in Patreon because I couldn’t wait any longer.

David

I was wondering if you thought Killua was going to die? Haha

nabeel
>>162573557

Some of my personal favourite episodes are yet to come. In regards to the manga as a whole the current arc is shaping up to be my favourite of the story thus far

Jay
>>162573557

In general I would say yes, but its very close with a few other episodes.

Jay
>>162574654

I forgot to mention it but It looks great! Gives a really cool vibe, like it a lot!

Trebor

I just did some research into the statue that was focused on several times in this episode, and it seems to be depicting "Basilica of Saint Paul Outside The Walls". From what I learned, he and his statue represent transformation, Sacrifice/martyrdom, Theology, and Legacy. Perhaps you know more about him. Surprisingly, this seems to be an original anime addition; I'm surprised because Togashi frequently references different works of art(paintings, music, architecture, etc.) and makes religious parallels in his manga. Incredible reaction/discussion! I'm glad you don't let yourself forget the effect Ging has on Gon and the expectations he places on himself because of it. Also, I doubt you care too much about power scaling, but a more accurate translation of "his power is now equal to the king" is actually Pitou repeating her words from earlier: "I was right... his fangs might even sink into the King". IMO, both Meruem and Gon are too far above her that she wouldn't be able to compare the two accurately.

>>162606617

Agree with everything except the very last sentence. Pitou would be the closest person to Gon and Meruem power wise and she’s shown clear ability to gauge aura and abilities. Killua also accurately gauges Pitou’s power, same with Knov/Pouf, and Netero/Pitou.

Slaaverin

Unrelated but what if he reacts to Berserk next 😳 it would be so amazing 😭

KotBegemot

Absolute all-timer! One of THOSE episodes that will stuck with you forever. Chimera Ant Arc is truly an Epic Greek Tragedy.

Jay
>>162658525

I believe he has the manga or at least he talked about reading it.

CS

Masterpiece. I remember joining your patreon when you started HxH and I've been waiting for this episode since then.

FILMBuFF
>>162658525

A reaction to Berserk Anime is unlikely to be the HXH replacement. I’ve always leaned towards starting that with the Manga.

FILMBuFF
>>162583391

Oh I didn’t even contemplate both of them dying, so I never even speculated on that matter. Just felt really, really unlikely that that both those characters could be killed off together in that moment.

Moe
>>162573557

It’s a popular one, but my all timer is still ahead

radu masic

I had a theory the second time I watched the show and after reading the manga. The reason why nen is secret in the hunter exam is not because "bad people" might use it. It's because people like Gon. Up until now 2 of the main 4 characters have used conditions that stake their life. Killua did not know nen but every sibling did know it, even the younger ones like Kaluto. If he is meant to be the head of the family would it not make sense to teach him as early as possible? It's because as Milluki said, he is emotionally unstable. And i suspect this was the purpose of the needle also. If it was some selfish thing why did Silva and Zeno know about it and confirmed that he removed it. For a normal person i guess they reach Gon and Killua's skill in their 20's as Bicuit said and i suspect at that point you have a better understanding of the world.

edamammy

There are other episodes that folks are rightfully bringing up but this brought me right back to your reaction and analysis of Episode 47. Driven by rage and revenge, a nen power up through an unconscionable condition, power that turns into a curse. Gon is so determined to save Kurapika during the Yorknew arc, but really they are fractured mirrors of each other; idealistic and kind-hearted youth who are broken or let down by the cruelty of the world. There is so much here about the systems and people who let down a child like Gon, who led to this shattering of his psyche and mind. The world of HxH is full of wonder and discovery, but equally full of pain and suffering. Ultimately, whether or not it was right for Gon to have been led down this path by so many is…a difficult question. This was an incredible watch—thank you as always for your time ✌️ because time is precious!

Kilian Robert
>>162713113

I kinda agree to what you are saying but let's not forget that people like gon and killua are Extremely rare talent so i think the main reason is still to make sure bad people doesnt learn about nen.

Brandon K Aguda

Best reactor out there man. Please keep going. I know you'll get the recognition and success you deserve. Hoping for an even better year for you

Sloopgamer

Didn't know if I should write something or not but I mentioned this episode under the very first hxh episode reaction so I had to. I said there that hxh has most likely my fav episode of all time and this was the episode that I was talking about. Tbh this episode rivals the top 3 with two other episodes. One of them you will most likely never watch which is understandable lol. The other one is at least on your holy list. If I think about why I love this episode....I don't even really know it myself that well. Gon is far away from being my fav char of hxh and far away from being one of my fav mcs of all time but this episode was the culmination of gons whole character arc which I loved especially in the CA arc. In so many fighting shonen series our main character is always having the purest and most noble intentions and ideals even though they can easily be cracked the story doesn't let them break. Yeah most of the times they are challenged but they always find and answer. Gon is different there. Togashi put those noble thoughts into him and slowly peeled of the fragility and the fucked up nature that can ensue though such a mentality and ideals. In most shows our mc gets a power up and its shown as heroic as it can be cause through that power up the mc can beat the villain. These power ups are always shiny bright and brimming with optimism. This on the contrary just shows despair, pessimism and hopelessness from our MC basically commiting suicide in order for revenge. The more I think about I love tragedies which is prob why this episode speaks so much to me I mean my two fav media of all time are the Tokyo Ghoul and Berserk manga haha As you notices this is indeed for many people one of the best episodes of all time. A lot of people really wait for reactors to get to this point to just watch this specific reaction. Under many first episode reactions people are babbling like "I can't wait for them to get to 131"😂 I too felt for all partipants in this episode. Pitou, Gon and Killua especially on a rewatch. The way Killua looked at Gon broke my heart on so many levels. The moment Gon looked back, realized what he has done and decided to go through with it almost killing himself and Killua. Kurapika really made the worst decision ever by letting Gon know about vows and conditions. Will just say two last things about this episode now that you've watched this episode the dialogue of Gon in 110 "In what situation would you hurt yourself?" "When...you can't forgive yourself" Love this quote in context to this episode now. There are so many callbacks like this that you can make now. And my personal fav line in the entire show is "I don't care if this is the end" cause then you realize Gon is def gone as you said. Just puts a eveb more haunting substance to the whole sequence. Thank you for your reactions. Here for the last few episodes and some more goated episodes on the horizon!

Abram

Another 10/10 episode. Togashi was on cocaine during palace invasion. Generational run, haven't seen anyone pull this many all-timers in such a quick succession.

Impudian
>>162606617

For the last part, Pitou's manga dialogue uses the same literary device as Netero's final words. It can be read as Fangs or Power. So the dialogue box is something more like "I knew it. His fangs/power have reached the king."

El Chupacabra06

Man I rewatched the palace invasion arc a couple weeks back and this episode never fails to bring me to tears, its just so tragic man
