We have put a few days work into the first new performance location, and it's time to post a quick preview of our progress.

I'm a bit shocked that the most voting points is for something that can be easily accessed through pretty much every other source of porn already out there. Vanilla / softcore sex is everywhere. Kink / edgier material is much more difficult to find, especially in an interactive format. If you want the project to compete with something like a relatively tame Illusion game, you could totally position Project Helix against established players. Though they weren't #1, I noticed lots of votes were cast for the kink / fetish rooms too. I'd argue that's the way to go if you want to differentiate yourself in the market and/or make money. If Project Helix doesn't depart significantly from Custom Maid 3D2 or Honey Select (or do it drastically better than), will folks actually want to spend money on it?

Well, I missed this poll, but if it was a single choice poll then kink won by a landslide, there's debate WHAT kink won. And if it were multiple choice it's hard to argue people just checked the box that mainstream goes, mainstream being mainstream. I don't see a contradiction here, I see a prioritized todo list. I am curious though, all these options are mainly positions of submission. Is this because of the game theme or is it a marketing choice to not conflict with other Patreon projects?

Vastly superior model quality, better animation and an escape from the varied as number but really very narrow selection of customization. If you're into school girl uniforms, it's fine. Unless I'm mistaken, that entire game doesn't have a single high heel, anything shiny and little body customization, trading it for 3 different types of animal ears. Very diverse but in a very narrow field, you know what I'm saying? Also, I don't know about your experience, but mine has some clipping, the camera controls are awkward and in spite of very good efforts, it's still a Japanese game badly and partly translated and ducktaped into VR. Also, supporting people who do good work.

Our presumption was that folks would love to see contents that aren't easily feasible in real life or ordinary porns, but turns out there is a substantial amount of people (quite a few high-level subscribers, at least) into softcore sex and dominant female. VIP room is the only vanilla sex scene anyway, so edgier players won't be thirsty for too long I guess.

I sponsor a number of pervy folks on Patreon, so I feel you on the whole supporting good work thing. One of the reasons why CM3D2 and Honey Select both have big followings is due to the end-user mod scene. I get the impression you've not checked out Honey Select, which has an extensive sex scene animation list (seems like much more than CM3D2, at least). I honestly don't think it would take a lot for Project Helix to surpass either one's mod scene if they released a number of decent tools and/or tutorials for how to add content. I do like Project Helix's more active use of props and toys, which is another cool thing they really have going for them. I actually studied photoreal 3d modelling, lighting, and texturing for my first degree, but have had most of that skill set fall into disuse. If I could find a way / good instructions on how to make mods (and especially if I could make some money for my time), I think it'd be a hoot to work on something for a project like this.

There's definitely a lack of domme action in interactive 3d hentai / porn games. Being a big fan of power exchange stuff IRL (though I prefer being in charge), that is definitely an area that could use some love / is an under served and rather common kink. I guess I find myself thinking of the softcore / more romantic character interactions being a much more popular approach in the asian (especially Japanese) markets, where the whole "waifu" thing was taken to whole new heights. Pretty fascinating, really.

Eh... typically, most the folks I've encountered doing alt lifestyle stuff (swinging, BDSM, M/s) are middle to upper class folks. Polite and gentle aren't the first terms that come to mind :P

Have you thought about breaking the poll down not so much by location, but by specific sex acts? I wonder if that would be much more telling. (A well implemented public cum-dump would be fun to see... though sounds like it'd be tricky to implement well).

I can't remember it right now, but I looked into the modding over on one of them and it involved a needlessly long process of me exploding some packs, installing modelling software, baking the textures into models and then repacking it. I have decided it was way, way too much work for what was, in my experience, a game that was only half translated and even less well ported. Maybe I had a bad experience, maybe I just saw a complex mod or stumbled onto a modder's resource. I'll give it another try, it's still installed somewhere. I don't think it will be translated this time, it will have a better UI or a better VR integration. Maybe mods will make it worth it, though I must confess, it somehow feels MUCH easier to mode Skyrim VR or something along those lines than that game. There are other devs that do decent work. I don't know if it's considered bad taste to praise other (competing?) projects, but there is a dungeon game with VR and real physics so you can drag limbs around and an AI that tries to understand what you want to do by pushing people around which is kinda cool, and has story and has official mod support. There's another studio that does a set of scenes under the same umbrella, when it's done it will have around 40 scenes, likely one will be nice. Not the best models or animation, but very diverse. I don't know, everyone is different. What attracted me to Helius is the graphical fidelity of the girl. She looks amazing, IMO, and the game promises a lot. I don't know what this game will end up like, but it defeinitely doesn'ty shine in customization (clothes) or variation. It may stay as a very interesting club with interesting rooms in which interesting stuff happens and that's fine. After all, the project finishes, the dev lives on. It's not best to get stuck to a single project. Thanks for the pointer, I'll look into CM3D and the other game for mods.
