Definitely a pivotal episode, letting us look behind the curtain and see why Scorpius is the way he is. It doesn't earn him forgiveness, but it does let us understand. And I will say this in Scorpius' favor - so many villains embody that Lord Farquad meme, "Some of you may die, but that's a sacrifice I'm willing to make" but Scorpy doesn't hesitate to put himself on the line.

Did you ever think you'd use the phrase "Poor guy" in reference to Scorpy? Ha. I'm not sure if it's fortunate or unfortunate that John 1 and John 2 don't know Scorpy's backstory. Sometimes it gets a little confusing remembering which John knows what. "Why would John do that? Oh right, John 1 doesn't know the thing that happened to John 2..." And then there's neural clone John that knows stuff the other 2 Johns don't, but that knowledge died with him.

Personally, I'd love it if Cinebinge started Farscape. Blind Wave is okay, but they do that thing where they cut the intro and outro off their patreon so you have to go to youtube versions to see them. It boost their youtube numbers, I'm sure, but it annoys the crap out of me.. It feels like if I bought a book, and the book didn't include the opening or last chapter, instead said "please go to our free website to read those chapters". It doesn't bother most people, I suppose, but it annoys me.

Previously, I put a pin in a conversation about the evolution of Crais as a character, transitioning from Big Bad in S1 to more of an anti-hero ally in S2 & S3. Here's where I wanted to go with that topic: no other show does a better job of recontextualizing its villains than Farscape does. Knowing Scorpius' backstory won't redeem him of his past crimes (I'll never forget the way he shot down Gilina without hesitation), but it does bring his motivations into sharper focus. It will be difficult to paint him as an ongoing Big Bad from this point, but I won't blame anyone whose opinion of him doesn't change. Actor trivia: Johanna Kerrigan (Linfer) previously appeared as Rorg, the female blood tracker/bounty hunter from "Til the Blood Runs Clear" and the "Liars, Guns and Money" three-parter. Stephanie Jacobsen, who appeared as Nurse Froy, also played Kendra Shaw in the BSG movie Razor. And she was still bangin'.

I had NO idea she played Kendra. Holy crap. Thanks for sharing that.

My pleasure. I just found out today!

I love the call back in this to Scorpius having been able to identify Crichton as "an imposter," due to Crichton's non-Sebacean energy signature on the Gammak Base, way back at the end of Season 1. Also enjoyed that, despite the increased tension on Moya, that D'Argo isn't immediately trying to physically force or shout John down into doing what he wants, like he would have in S1. Instead, he also showed concern for John's overtired state in addition to being massively annoyed with how his obsession is keeping them in the sticks of the Uncharted Territories. Yay for character growth! Missing Rygel is perhaps a symptom of something, but as we've seen, he does the right/necessary thing just often enough to keep from completely alienating everyone - shipmates or us. I remember that the person who got me into Farscape said that it was a good thing Rygel became one of John's People BEFORE John's turn in the Aurora Chair and Rygel's attempt to betray Moya to Crais-Scorpius in Family Ties, as post-Chair John is much less inclined toward the benefit of the doubt or forgiveness. Like him pulling a pulse pistol on Linfer in this ep despite Pilot's assurances about her, or the way he sometimes treats Stark, which you've called out while watching.

I told blind wave on Twitter to check out Farscape and that you wanted them to see it they liked my tweet!

Peak Farscape: Scorpius gives us a tragic backstory that makes him appear sympathetic - but then Crichton is just a dick about it.

Cinebinge would be the perfect channel for this!
