Still can't believe Luthen did Lonnie like that. Lonnie was the MVP! And that montage at the end of ep 12 with the music, so good, just leading right into Rogue One. Would love to see you do a Rogue One rewatch

I jotted down some notes this week. This was such a good series, and I haven't stopped thinking about it since. So, in no particular order. Every week I hear your clicker, and every week I think "Did she open a soda" before I realize you are marking times. I know that Luthen was so harsh a man, but he held himself to the same standard as he held Lonnie. They were both expendable. He knew they would have trouble getting out of there themselves, and getting out with Lonnie and the Jung family would have made it less likely. For Luthen, getting Kleya out with the information was kind of his focus. He himself was expendable in the end. In the flashbacks, he was called Sergeant Lear. Rael is Lear backwards.... spymaster! Both of the actors who played Kleya, child and adult, were just so great. And Elizabeth Dulau, as much as she carried so much of this series, this was her first TV acting gig. I really want to see more of her in other roles, and I'd like to see Kleya again. Someone suggested to Tony Gilroy that they should do a series set after Return of the Jedi where Vel and Kleya go hunting former imperial war criminals, and taking Dedra with them as a sort of Hannibal Lector-like imperial advisor. He was all for it. So am I. The planet Luthen and Kleya were on when they bombed the bridge was Naboo. Luthen chose to announce himself by starting his terrorism on Palpatine's homeworld. It's amazing that they have an episode of Andor in which Andor does not appear, but you don't even see it until it's over. I was the same. Was never waiting for him to show, because they made such a great story with Luthen and Kleya. K2 mentioning the parade he was in once means he has memories from before he was reprogrammed. That means he remembers killing Ghormans. He remembers killing Enza (he has some pretty distinctive scratches in his paint, and it was K2 that killed Enza). I wonder how Dreena feels seeing him stomp around Yavin. I think the safe house building had a fire on their floor, so it was all water damaged. I like that the lady in the wrong apartment they go to was wearing the latest in Aunt Beru-wear. Everytime Heert would talk, I would think he sounded like a British schoolboy at a fancy school who calls everyone "Oik" and says "Do you know who my father is?!" Krennic pressing his finger into Dedra's head was not scripted. Ben Mendelsohn improvised it and didn't warn her, so her reaction was authentic. These episodes lead directly into Rogue one, so within a few days, Cassian dies at Scarif, and Vel is officially the last survivor of Aldahni. Within a week, the Death Star is destroyed, and the Rebels evacuate Yavin. The first real Rebel victory, but between their losses at Scarif and the Death Star, it cost them a lot. Dodona was a General in the original Star Wars who gave the Death Star briefing to the X-Wing pilots. Perrin having an affair with Davos Sculden's wife was not something I saw coming. Tony Gilroy said that Perrin actually did know what Mon was up to all that time, and chose to ignore it. Bail saying "May the Force Be With You" is the only time it's ever said in this show, and it gives it so much impact. Bix's baby is why she left, really. There's a shot in episode 7 where she's talking to the Force Healer, and it focuses on her hands clutched at her belly. It looks like they are just clutched on her bag, but the framing of that shot is so deliberate. Thank you for watching this and putting your reactions online, Angela. I really enjoyed seeing someone else really appreciate this amazing series.

Andor is up there for me with Arcane in terms of masterpiece. The cinematography, acting, writing, everything really comes together to tell a fantastic story. And I'm so glad you listened to the credits long enough to hear the original theme play. It hit me pretty hard when that came on.

Jay from Preview'd made a comment at the end of their series watch that caught my ear, this in the context of "A New Hope" and the Battle of Yavin: "There are so many main characters on Yavin!" Not only those around the light table during the battle--Leia, Threepio, etc.--but elsewhere on the base. Mon might be there. I imagine Vel and Kleya at the base as well as Wil and Dreena.

I gave myself a good part of a day to digest Angela's reaction to 2x10-2x12 before posting more comments. - Color me so gratified Angela stuck through the final credits of 2x12 to catch John Williams' "Star Wars" theme. I think it ultimately foreshadows the fruits of Cassian's labors (with the help of others): the Rebel victory at the destruction of the first Death Star. - The music in the opening third of 2x12's final credits sounds like layers of repeating, descending tetrachords in the melody instruments (in C major, that'd be C-B-A-G). I find a kind of sadness or wistfulness in this sequence. - Speaking of soundtracks, a couple honorable mentions from Andor's season 2: a. "We are the Ghor (Planetary Anthem: Orchestra Version)," in the closing credits to 2x8: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pxJZQ8nb8yw b. "Elegy for Ghorman," not found in any of the episodes as far as I can tell: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCStmR1FzZk - "I have friends everywhere" can easily stand as an unofficial motto of the Rebellion - No Star Wars butts in this season either, but "shit" as an expression must be canon I suppose. There were four of them across this series: a. 1x3 - Mosk, after one of his crew dies in a shuttle craft on Ferrix b. 2x1 - Cassian, after flying the TIE Avenger backwards into a wall c. 2x6 - Samm (in Ghor, so translated as such in the subtitles), when arguing with Lezine during the Ghorman heist, just before he shoots and kills Cinta by accident d. 2x9 - Bail to Mon, prior to her Senate speech - Partagaz shows real if muted emotion when he hears of Jung's death--the closest he comes to being a sympathetic human being. I think he considered Jung a protégé or mentee, someone with promise in the ISB. There are hints of this in 2x4's ISB scene with Jung's "We're arresting too many people!" response to Partagaz's frustration. He shows some pride in Jung. - Partagaz and Krennic clearly have a history together. - I've never settled on why Cass seems so irritated after extracting Kleya from the safe house in 2x12. My current position is that he thought, "I survived another one again, saved another life." This would tie in with Vel's line later in the episode, "He should stop saving people," not to mention his fatalistic storyline--he survives every close call long enough to help steal the Death Star plans. - I guess we now know why K-2 was so eager to have a blaster in "Rogue One" given his experience wielding a rifle rescuing Kleya. - Once again, I'm a sucker for a great montage. This coupled with 2x12's contraction (after Kleya's rescue) into a quieter, hyper-focused story on the characters we've come to know makes this finale something special. - Angela calls "Andor" a masterpiece. I agree. This show has only grown in my estimation since I wrapped up season 1 and continues past the final episode of season 2. In fact I joined Angela's Patreon back in April 2023 to watch her full reactions to season 1. I'm the sentimental type, but stories really have to dig deep to affect me. "Andor" is one such work; it holds special meaning for me. It'll be a good long while before another TV/streaming show, or movie, does so again. - I'm looking forward to the Blu-ray/4K release of season 2. But I hope we're not stuck waiting 2 years before getting it like we did for season 1. Finally, my heartfelt thanks to Angela for sharing her reactions to "Andor." I found her experience moving, insightful, and one hell of a ride.

From the first season I expected Luthen and Dedra to take each other out, and up until the last moment I thought Kleya was gonna pull out a trigger and blow the explosives the shop had been obviously rigged with. But instead we got an amazing flashback and Dedra ending in an Imperial prison is a perfect ending for her character. Also not that I think that's why Luthen did it but from a pragmatic standpoint killing Lonny might have been safer for his family. Rewatching Rogue One after this it's almost unbelievable how seamlessly the show and movie fit together (it helps they got the same actors on Yavin). And yeah, Andor probably didn't win because people look down on sci-fi, not saying that isn't the case. That said The Pitt is absolutely not a run-of-the-mill medical drama, it's up there. (And I still think the baby is kinda cheesy)

Bryan Mau

That ever so slight smile on Kleya's face between between the Dedra shots was amazing...that whole montage with its extended end was a masterclass...

John Miller

The perfect example of this shows attention to detail is when ISB enforcement is goes after Cassian, Kleya and Melshi. When the leave the elevator, the sign about it is flashing with the doors opening. It's a silly detail, and they could have not bothered. But they did. Details like that are things that you don't even notice, but they add to the world they created, and make it more real.

The Pitt is really really good. It also was made in LA and it's an episodic show that hearkens back to the kind of shows that were made in TV's heyday. So it' was the perfect Emmy bait (that and The Studio) of being very good and also being the kind of show that a bunch of actors, creatives and LA industry folk want to support in general.

I'm glad you finally were able to get through Season 2... It's heads and shoulders above any of the other Disney era content, so I hope they can continue with this kind of quality. When you were crying as Cassian approached his ship about him not reaching out to Bix, all I could think was "just wait about 30 seconds because Tony Gilroy is about to gut punch you"... A master work for sure.

Dude Longcouch

You gotta give Luthen this much, he demanded no sacrifice of Lonni that he wasn't also willing to do himself.

David T

I second the proposal that you do a Rogue One rewatch, now that you know all the backstories. And I speak for many of us when I second the idea that we continue the story of Andor by focusing on Vel and Kleya, with Bix and Wil and Dreena, and maybe even springing Dedra from prison in order to use her vast knowledge of the empire. They could even find a way to include Perrin again, since it was revealed by the director that he knew all along what Mon Mothma was doing, but kept silent. I would also love to see Bail Organa and his wife on Alderaan just before the Death Star destroys it.

Marty McGee

I know I'm a little late watching these reactions. But I just gotta say I was the same way after the finale. It hit me that Cassian walking up to the ship was the beginning of not only Rogue One, but this whole universe. I was a wreck already and THEN Tony Gilroy shows us Bix and the baby. It's just cruel but a masterful ending to an amazing amazing show! I would be okay for a while and then a few hours later I would just start crying again. This will forever be one of my favorite shows and experiences of all time! I kind of wish they had been able to do the 5 seasons they wanted. But then again, maybe it wouldn't have been as good. It's perfect the way it is.
