Yup, easily one of the best Frieren episodes and amazing storytelling; cutting back and forth between the past and the present. I still like the previous episode slightly more because of the magic battle. But this one is still great and I always appreciate the tiny bits of art detail (like Frieren's hair flopping around when her mana is revealed and Aura's hair getting cut but the sword). Great reaction as always!

Such an awesome episode. The Demons' mana being their societal standings is such an incredible piece of world building. The reasoning just clicks perfectly with me as to why they wouldn't consider something so simple. Plus I believe that the English VA of Frieren has said that her favorite line she's delivered in her career is that final 'kys' line.

I've been looking forward to this one. This episode is many people's number 1 and it's easily in almost everybody's top 3. It really, really just succeeds perfectly at everything that it wants to do and was the perfect way to really display to the audience how powerful Frieren is and where it comes from. At the same time, the show is very, very good at not just making Frieren too powerful. She has her flaws and there are things that other characters just do better than her, like how Fern is faster than her. There's going to be more of that too. Just exceptional. Fun little detail that you probably didn't realize (almost nobody does), but the montage of Frieren whiling away 1000 years is 50 seconds long. The rapid sequence of images that follows right after and shows her adventure with Himmel and the others is 0.5 seconds long. Exactly one 100th as long. I'm glad you're enjoying this show so much, but I knew that you would. I hope that you're recovering well and can't wait to continue watching your journey through this show when you're strong enough to get back to it. All the best!

Holy crap I loved that final camera angle from Aura's point of view. :D

It was so great!!!! It's bad ass enough that she was taught by Flamme the powerful but if you notice the background went from ancient greek to roman to midevil times? that's when I knew she had been around more than 500 years. Flamme was teaching her the spells that people were faking in the grimorie's pages she was collecting lol Frieren is Flamme's Grimoire!

Note that Himmel's "call it a hunch" echoes perfectly what Frieren said to Flamme when they met. Man, I've been waiting for this one; the whole episode builds up so well, with such good back story, and then suddenly that ending is just ice cold. Absolutely fantastic.

This is such a great episode, I'm loving every moment of it. I wasn't sure about the sharpness of that sword, and the effort it would take for one to behead themselves like that, but that was such a brilliant scene in how it was executed.

The three timelines converge and this episode pulls it all together. What a triumph of setup and payoff.

In most mythoi I've seen, elves are shorter than humans. This may be due to the extreme influence Tolkien had on modern day fantasy. I have seen a few stories where elves were taller, but they're rare.
