I was crying with you here the whole time.

Guys, I can't believe Angela is dead from dehydration. Though I'm not one to speak. I've seen this scene many times by now, but I cry every time. Himmel loved Frieren and I mean TRULY loved her. He knew she wouldn't get it in his lifetime but he loved her anyway. He loved her for who she is and never tried to change her. Fifty years later and he still didn't take anybody else because his heart was always hers. Always. He knows she'll get it eventually and even if he's no longer around when that happens, that is okay. It is the purest expression of love you'll ever see and it gets me every. single. goddamn. time.

Wow, the episode packs more emotion watching it a second time. And it's more clear why Frieren's blown kiss only effected Himmel, right? 😊 Yeah, Frieren is growing as a person and becoming more aware of her feelings. It's a wonderful part of the journey.

This episode is a doozie! Himmel loved her with his whole heart and soul. Also the fact that SHE picked it, and then he was SMOOTH with that cape swoosh and proposal?! Himmel had game. Watching reactions to this episode never gets old! Also you made a good point, he waiting 50 YEARS for her just to come back for the horn. A true gentleman!

Ahhh it sucks being single to all of you who are in a good relationship hold on tight. Third episode in a row crying I’m talking a break.

I keep crying rewatching these with you. I cried the first time, too, but it really shines on a second watch. I watched this with my husband the first time through, and now I really want to give him a big hug when he gets home from work. I didn't much believe in love growing up. I didn't see proper examples of it, even between people who claimed to love each other. I'm so grateful to have it now. I vaguely enjoyed romcoms as a kid, since it felt like a pleasant fantasy. But now I'm such a sap who's ready to cry on command for a good love story. And even without defined romantic relationships, Frieren is an amazing love story, among the many other kinds of story it is. I do wish Himmel had let himself find happiness in someone else, though. As much as his devotion to her is adorable for Frieren's sake, I wish he'd been more open to finding another love. She wouldn't fault him for it, and he deserved to be happy. Edit: I hope by the time Frieren reaches Aureole, she's self-aware enough to tell him she loves him too.

(cue credits) "ARE YOU ALRIGHT?" no, no I am not! I think the action / plot episodes are better than any other anime out there past and present. But these do-nothing episodes are all my favorites. That's how good they are. It's amazing.

There is so much setup and pay off crammed into these. I just noticed a subtle and brilliant setup for something for the first time on what, a sixth rewatch? This show is so rewatchable.

The Himmel flashback is the highlight but Eisen diving head-first off a mountain is very funny.

Something I learned reading comments while watching reactions of this show. Fern's bracelet is a blooming Mirrored Lotus. Frieren's ring is a bud. Frieren doesn't know her flowers. Himmel does. Himmel saw Frieren's choice and smiled lightly, and still gave it to her in the "best" way. Knowing that it symbolizes an "eternal love" the never bloomed.
