Interesting trivia: Roger Corman made a very very cheap Fantastic Four movie in 1994 that was never intended for release -- it was just so the studio that had it at the time could keep the rights to the story. Marvel gave cameos in this movie to the four actors who played Reed, Sue, Johnny and Ben in the 1994 version.

Something else to consider: At the end of the movie there's a huge untended spaceship in Earth orbit...good chance of technological leap forward once Reed gets his hands on it. Or else they'll have to knock it into the sun or something to prevent it crashing down on Earth.

From 18 minutes in, Zenn-La and Latveria aren't related. Zenn-La will be later in the movie. Latveria is a country in Eastern Europe with a dictator that may or may not be be seen as benevolent... with a familiar family name: Doom. Post movie edit: Yes, Dr. Doom. In the comics, he's a scientist that's ultra competitive with Reed, and also a wizard, and also in power armor, and king of a country so more resources than Iron Man. He's kind of a big deal. As to your question about how they got their powers, in the '60's with the space program where it was, the story was tied to that. Reed had the ship built and experiments planned but then there were to be budget cuts. So he sneaks in with his friend the pilot, his girlfriend, and her little brother and launch the mission pre-maturely. While they're in space a bunch of purple rays hit the ship as a "cosmic storm" and when they crash back on earth, Johnny bursts into flames but it doesn't hurt him. Reed is flattened but regains his shape. Sue is invisible, but learns to control it (and project the force fields), but Ben was mis-shapen and over time it hardened to the rock-like form and couldn't change. So Reed felt REALLY guilty for permanently disfiguring his friend. Also with Ben, not just seen as ugly/scary/Thing, he loses all sorts of self confidence and it was a big part of his story for decades that he was dating a blind woman. Someone that couldn't see him. BUT here's the twist, she was an aritst, a scultor that using her sense of touch always knew what Ben looked like, she could make sculptures of him, but he needed that blanket of not being seen. So taking that whole angle away from him took away a lot of the best points of his story for this movie. :-(

"That's really bad CPR" HAHA!! Yes! Ever since I took a CPR course I can't stop noticing how bad movie/TV CPR is!

Lynne of the Future Foundation and Sue’s right-hand gal is portrayed by Sarah Niles aka Dr. Sharon from Ted Lasso! She was also in the Silence of the Library episode of David Tennant’s DW run.

I only realized mid-watch after remembering I’d seen news of her casting. She’s a wonderful actress and a bit of a chameleon, so I bet I would’ve missed it without that prior knowledge.

All I'm saying is, if Agatha Harkness had been Franklin's nanny like she was in the comics, Galactus would have been toast in like 5 minutes. Although I think Kathryn Hahn and Pedro Pascal on the same screen might make me explode so maybe it was the right choice 🤣

Grey Anatomy was so so good till the bad CPR and awful coffee cup drinking. I couldn't unsee it.

Oh wow, I don't think I ever clocked that was her as the first face node in the library
