Wonderful closing reaction to a wonderful season finale! Thanks and looking forward to more next year!

This does really feel like one of those "once in a generation" shows, like Fullmetal Alchemist before it. The material just approaches its world in such a concise, and well-thought-out way, where every piece of information we get just makes sense. One thing I really came to enjoy is how every mage speaks, or even reacts to things at the moment. We see it, especially in the second portion of the exam. The tone each mage uses is very even, and often you won't see their expressions change even when facing grievous bodily harm. It's like studying as a mage has taught them to be calm and deliberate at all times. This is, of course, excluding Lawine and Kanne, who very much wear their hearts on their sleeves. The entire exam arc does a wonderful job of allowing us to glimpse the culture around magehood, and like you said, made me want so many characters to stick around. I didn't even realize the second season was coming so soon, and now I have something to look forward to coming into the new year! I'm not even mad that this show took the top spot from Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. If anyone deserved to, its Frieren.

Each subsequent rewatch of this show is better than the last, especially when you get to see someone else see it for the first time.

Also, Himmel earned each of your tears. No need for doubt there.

I don't know what Season 2 will bring, but I hope we get to see some of those mages again.

This series is just so good, I really can't wait for Season 2. It always comes back to Himmel in the end. Serie might not come across as likable, but she does seem fair in her assessment in people and their potential, just that she looks down on humans because of their short lifespans compared to that of an Elf who can live countless centuries. I do hope S2 doesn't focus too much on flashbacks, but show more on Fern and Frieren's growth advancing their skills.

Thank you so much for your reactions to this show. I watched it for the first time along with you, it's just such an amazing show, and I really appreciate your genuine reactions, emotions at all. I don't agree with you about Serie, but your off the cuff emotional reactions are what make your videos, so please keep being you; and don't feel the need to supress your urge to cry over Himmel. His influence over these last two episodes really made me appreciate him. I love this show. Can't wait for season 2!

I'm thinking she's so mean because she's bored. Being that powerful, she's just grown tired of people she deems "lesser", so most of the world. Looking forward to season 2!

I just want to say thank you for not dragging this out by posting once a week, or randomly with no sort of schedule at all like a lot of others do. It was great to know what was coming. I really enjoyed watching this again (for the probably 10th time) with you, and I'll definitely be here for season 2!

Remember when Fern was fighting Ehre during the 1st stage and Ehre said "She just uses ordinary spells. It's like I'm fighting my grandfather." something like that. Her grandpa is Lernen... the first 1st-class mage, who Serie thinks has a chance to win against Frieren, and who actually did damage to Frieren. Lernen also created the escape bottles for stage 2. And during Serie's flashback of her apprentices and their favorite spell, Lernen's is creating golems. Just saying. Side note, probably too late to say this but this anime is the perfect "comfort show" for what shows like Attack on Titan or Jujutsu Kaisen might bring. I'm looking forward to your AOT reactions. Let's gooooo~

So much YES! So glad you went on this journey :). I tried to tell you! haha. I went in with high expectations, because it's "ranked" higher than FMAB. You know how I feel about my boys Ed and Al...so I was...skeptical. Once I saw it was kinda DnD based and the music swelled...I was like well fuck...I guess people are on to something here! You asked about our thoughts on Himmel. He is such a phenomenal character. I maybe didn't cry as much in my reaction, but everything hit me like a crushing wave, and I enjoyed your connection to him and the gang! Himmel is not perfect, he's kinda vain, he's not "worthy" of the hero sword, and he didn't act like he was changing the world with every deed, yet 80 freaking years later, his legacy is part of what drives ppl to be GOOD (Wirbel, Frieren, etc). Also the way this show flows, the flashbacks, the silent frames that get shown quickly, THE MUSIC, it all just blew me away. Also when fights happen, the animation kicked into gear, it was just like what can this show NOT do?! The way they weaved the 10 year journey Frieren has had and the one she's currently on, was just awesome story telling. The era of humans, the mysteriousness of the elven age, what magic can do, the demon king fight, there's so much to still find out. I have ZERO idea about what's coming, (the manga is further than the show, so beware!), but I can't wait to dive in come January, and I'll be here when you watch it to!! Oh! and one last thing. My boy Stark better get some love early in Season 2, bc he is so freaking awesome and I missed his screen time in the shows second half.

I’m so glad I watched this with you I will say it was painful having to wait while another reaction came out but it was worth it. And yes I would always cry when himmel was mentioned because it’s beautiful how Frierens personality was shaped by himmel in my opinion. I’m so excited to watch the new season with you in January!

I'm glad you loved frieren as much as I love it. It's such a raw anime, that just lets the audience understands the nuances in character actions and dialogue. I could watch this anime forever and still tear-up at it. I'm extremely excited for season two and to reconnect with the characters again. For another anime you could watch, I would highly recommend dandadan. It's one of my favorite animes at the moment, the characters and how the interact with each other is what makes the show for me

#MaxwellDidNothingWrong

There's so much you can miss on your first watch - definitely worth rewatching, but even if not there's so much that will no doubt be revealed explicitly as the seasons go on

If you're anything like me, Frieren is gonna hit like a truck during a rewatch. I cry *MORE* every time I rewatch it. I think it's because a rewatch kinda puts you in Frieren's headspace: looking back on what was, learning from it, and tryna carry that energy into the future.

Frieren absolutely deserves its praise, but I usually take MAL rankings with a grain of salt. They're so susceptible to recency bias, review bombing, and rank inflation. There are some truly top-notch shows that don't even crack the Top 100. As far as I'm concerned, there's plenty of room at the top for Frieren and FMAB to share a seat with lots of room left for more. ^_^
