Fuck yeah Cyberpunk! If I can't be in space then let me be in a cyberpunk world Must....resist... Gifting CP merch...

Neil Gossell

I volunteered my whole day at a food bank but this is top of my list when I get home ^_^

funnylilgalreacts

You send me so much stuff! I appreciate it so much. Just enjoy this reactions this time around 😬

Merkavar

He was not playing a game at the start. It is basically a VR snuff film from the perspective of the person being killed in this case. Experiencing the final moments of the cyberpsychos life.

Mike

Wake the F up Samurai, we've got Edgerunners to watch :D Edit: on the topic of the game, this show was so good it gave the game a second wind years after a disaster of a launch, and we all want more of this kind of show going forward.

hex1c

Edgerunners is one of the best anime in recent times. It's very adult tho, so no typical kawaii stuff xD

Deadstar

BD's (Brain Dance's) are generally edited recorded memories taken from people. Cyberpunk 2077 is one of my all time favourite games a few thousand hours played at this point, and with the modding community easily get a few thousand more. Edgerunners takes place mostly in 2076, David Martinez and characters you will eventually meet are Night City Legends in Cyberpunk 2077. There are implants for everything, even for those scenes you won't be able to show on youtube.

Paulo

Welcome to Night City, it’s going to be a rough ride. I play the game and the anime it’s really accurate so far, I never seen it this is my first time watching so I’ll watching it when you put your reactions up.

Lazzy

Excited for you to watch this, but it never occurred to me just how much terminology and setting-specific stuff that they throw at you really quickly, really early and without explaining it much. Having played the game a lot, it didn't even register to me. But most of it is classic cyberpunk. "Cyberpunk" as in the genre, not this specific IP. Central themes is that the world is a corporate nightmare and that the class divide is more pronounced than ever. Slummy stuff is juxtaposed against luxurious hi-tech and it isn't just how you dress and where you live that's affected by your wealth. Having more money means better cyberware to modify your body with. Being rich just makes you better. It takes a lot for somebody from the street to rise to the top. They have to fight incredibly hard and most don't live very long. That kind of thing is at the core of this story. you'd probably like the game too. you definitely should give it a shot after this.

Kyle Taggart

I can be your Cyberpunk consultant if there needs to be clarification lmao. So pumped for this short, yet awesome roller coaster ride!

Centarius

Helllllllllll yesssssssss, you're doing the thing! You should totally try the game out on your own time or watch someone else play it if you're not that into games cause it's such a good story.

michael denny

edgerunners are mercs in nightcity, called this because they are always running at deaths edge.

michael denny

Fun fact the shows version of night city is 1 for 1 scale of the games. In the game you can recreate every shot in the show go to every location in the show ect.

Rinnzu Rosendale

The adult themes and nudity can be a little jarring at first but it really does serve the story. It sells the seedy sin city atmosphere as well as showcases the organic vs the cybernetics. It also sets a tone of no limits which keeps us on edge. The world is about body modification so the body is kind of a central character.

Peter Wyatt

It also sells the tone of "shamelessness" where almost anything goes as long as it nets you money in the long-run. In this kind of world, you either play by its rules (which are no rules), or you end up swallowed whole by it.

Neil Gossell

One thing for your reference, not a spoilers is you'll hear them say the phrase "BD" and it stands for Brain Dance, it's like hyper vr where a program runs and you feel what's going on, it stimulates your brain like it's really happening. What you saw David watching at the very beginning was an X rated brain dance or XBD. Hope that helps ^_^

Neil Gossell

The splat on the ground where his mom was working, and again when he walked by it on his way to school. It's a real thing that happened. After that cyber pcycho died, somebody (Scroller) basically takes that guys memory "Brain dance" and chips it, so it can be disseminated to other uses, that's the kinda thing that David was pushing at school. Xrated brain dances, the one you saw was basically a snuff film only you're experiencing the person getting snuffed after going cyber psycho and wasting all those cops.

Nathaniel Castle

I have been a fan of Cyberpunk since I was young, it started as a Tabletop RPG like D&D, I was really into the Cyberpunk 2020 version of the game, its now a computer game with Cyberpunk 2077, this show captures the world Mike Pondsmith built beautifully and I was happy from start to end! Its ok to having a feeling of whiplash with it though especially with no previous experience with the setting. Im really looking to seeing what you think of it, oh and the music is awesome in this show!

LookingForOwls

I'm sure other comments have covered this, but just to be clear (since they explain this in the game but not really in the show) at the beginning David is watching the memories of a real person, who had been killed the night before. People can record their memories onto data drives by this point. His side gig with doc that he was talking about was taking these black market recordings and selling them at school, which is why he had it so soon after. And just to be clear, the game does not cover David's story at all, just set in the same world.

Josh del Villar

I'm so excited for this. I've been hoping you would watch this, not because we like to torture you but because this is a rough one but it is so so good.

Moricant

It’s worth pointing out that this setting is not extrapolating into the future from our present time. The setting originated with the Cyberpunk 2013 tabletop RPG published back in the 1980s, with later editions moving the timeline further onwards. So it’s based on a very 1980s vision of the future, hence the heavy Japanese influence and the retro futurist vibe of some of the tech. It’s also a world where the USA effectively fell apart around the turn of the century, with multiple states seceding, and the USSR still exists. In the 2070s, when the show takes place, the New USA has reclaimed the states that seceded after a short war, but Night City (the location for the show) remains a free city due to the intervention of the Japanese megacorp Arasaka.

Nathan Jasper

I can promise you, the game is not suddenly interrupted by nude chicks lol If there is a "love scene", it's either a cut scene after romancing for a long time (depending on how quick you go through the main story) or something you can choose to do as a fling but don't have to. If you love this show, I'd highly recommend the game and its DLC Phantom Liberty. Cyberpunk's one of my biggest obsessions, so this is all so very exciting!!

juan navarrete

you should do oppenheimer by christopher nolan

Dreameroutthere

What David was watching was not a game. He was viewing recorded cyber memories from the POV of the cyberpsycho who was fighting the police. Aka brain dance. Gloria was part of the clean up team, and took the Sandevistan from the cyberpsycho. At the very end of the ep, his tech guy who David interrupted his sexy time bd said he knew a fixer who was looking for that thing. So the Sandevistan is a thing that is in play within the story. And in the middle of the ep, David walked past the crime scene and smiled because he had witness the event first hand via cyber recorded bd memories. That is one thing some people do to make money in this world, is traffic in memories you can buy and then relive to be able to experience something normally you never could. And some people make money by having crazy experiences and then selling those memories on the streets.

Marcus Hicks

Yep, Night City is a corporate dystopian hellscape. All the worst elements of modern day USA taken to its most extreme.

Marcus Hicks

A core theme of Cyberpunk is "high tech, low life".....a mix of cutting edge tech and societal decay. If you like this, then aside from the game I can highly recommend the works of William Gibson-like the Sprawl Trilogy and Burning Chrome.

Whiffed

"His moms still alive idk how you survive something like that"

Whiffed

do not abbreviate cyberpunk bro

Nathan Jasper

Apologies, I did not mean to offend your people.

Rinnzu Rosendale

Apart from the character creator. And the opening mission. And a later mission with Johnny. And the corpo path opening. And while not explicit the ads around the world are Wild. Then there's Jig Jig street. But yeah. there is a censor setting.

Nathan Jasper

Like I said, those are cut scenes. As in the story planned for those. It doesn't just randomly cut to it like the show did.

Nathan Jasper

And I did mention you can initiate if you want to. Your choice, again not just randomly popping up.

Dylan Pace

Super excited for this series
