I played the tabletop RPG a lot in the 90s, and the more recent video game. There’s definitely a strong link between the show and the video game, with the same locations showing up in both and the songs in the show also playing on the in-game radio stations. The developers also updated the game to include references to the show.

Great episode, Lucy is pure manic pixie dream girl here. She actually was connecting wirelessly to people, the cord wrapped around David's throat was a weapon.

That was an ice bath yes. In this setting, an ice bath in somebody's home is a telltale sign of them being a netrunner -- that is to say, a hacker. Netrunning makes your cyberware run extremely hot and normally a netrunner will operate out of a cold location -- think of the way server parks are chilled -- and wear a special suit that helps you keep cool. However, more off the grid netrunners will run the net while submerged in an ice bath.

Anesthesia is a luxury for those than can afford it lol. Also I think with the chips why they couldn't detect them being removed is that Lucy was the one remotely removing them and David was there to catch them with his super speed. So any security measures that'd alert the chip was being removed was probably bypassed by Lucy.

The opening scene was real. BD stands for "Brain Dance" and its basically a recording of someone's mind. So you can relive someone's actual experience. Sex and Death are popular genres of BDs. They can also be edited after the fact to adjust senses. The death was recorded, Edited and given to David within the night it happened. Heres a vocab that the show kinda expects us to know from the game or leaves little context for: Nova= cool Preem= high quality Chrome= cybernetics Chipped = getting cybernetics Eddies = Money (Euro dollars) Net-Runner= Edgerunner specializes in hacking Gonk= Loser Choom= Homie Corpo/suit: works for one of the Mega corps. The megacorps are basically the closest thing to a government in Night City. ie. Arasaka, Militec, Biotechnica. Probably missed some but these are the ones that come to mind and come up a lot and don't spoil anything.

Not as much as people think. The locations in the show that are in the game were already in the game. The anime drew the scenes off of locations in the game, the same way a ton of scenes in anime are real locations in Japan. And most of the songs were also already on the games radio. But they sure do stick out alot more when they play now. lol

Those aren't the references to the show though, the things you just quoted are references to the game that the show is making, not the other way around. There are quests and items that got added - obviously can't say more without spoilers, but they are direct references to this show.

I play the game I saw some Easter eggs I don’t want to say anything just because of spoilers (every time I say spoilers I think of Riversong’s voice) but I like the story so far and I’m excited to see what happens. Also you should try to play the game after watching the whole series maybe you can stream it.

I watched this fairly recently and haven't played the game though I've heard a lot about it. This has easily become one of my favorite anime, already rewatched it twice, and now a 3rd time with you : p Definitely makes me wanna play the game though.

yes its virtual but more complicated brain dances are recorded by people with brsin dance implants it records all your senses and makes it into a digital memlry that others can viewe they feel your emotions your pain it eas imvented to end war by alowing u to empathise with anyone feel their pain their lives but it quickly giot used for entertainment like sex work and other stuff they normaly edited to make less exstreme but some people buy brain dances off dead people to feel what its like to die without relly dying its exstreme fluff
