Claudia Black's Thouthern acthenth an lithp ith juth the betht evuh. "Hunny! The butluh's dead!" I've seen this series almost 10 times by this point and still, when Zhaan shows up, tears.

this was the second ep that the very talented ben browder wrote. polarizing for some but I love it. it was so great to see so many old faces. aeryn’s accent was all claudia. she came up with it and surprised ben when the cameras started rolling. I would love to see the outtakes from those scenes. they leave the end sort of ambiguous but yeah, john took the lakka. he heard and saw her, just didn’t care. I understand his need/desire to disconnect but I was also really really disappointed. he’s changed so much since he’s been here, and not all for the better. oh and all of lani’s lines as pilot are recorded in a booth after filming. on set one of the puppeteers says the lines for the other actors.

I always thought Claudia's accent choice was an impression of The Ladies Man from SNL. I kept waiting for her to say, "my bottle of Courvoisier" like Tim Meadows.

Notes from a Farscape fan: I missed the last two, but I had to get here early for this one. 1) A brief aside to the world-building of Farscape - we actually already knew about pregnancy block tech that Peacekeepers use for women in service. Moya had one way back in season one, remember? 2) I love your immediate insistence that Scorpius isn't doing anything nefarious. Be it our prior experience with villains like Crais, or our knowledge of how the show works, or our knowledge of Scorpius's abiding pragmatism, we know that he doesn't just do maniacal villain shit for no reason. There is someone who views him as nothing more than that though...Stark. Hence he's like that in the game. 3) Claudia's accent. That's the entire point. Claudia's so good. 4) Another reminder of Farscape being way ahead of its time in female character representation. It isn't D'Argo who acts as John's Sancho Panza in this story, but Chiana. Seems like a small thing, but that choice was actively made, and I think it's important. 5) And two things we never thought we'd see in this episode: Virginia Hey's return and Rygel's protuberant anus. Both make your eyes water, but for different reasons.

“Protuberant anus” is not something I thought I’d read today but here I am chuckling to myself. Ahhh Farscape, it truly is in a class of its own

Gotta love the eps written by Ben!

As Summer mentioned earlier, this is the second of two episodes Ben Browder wrote for the show (the first being Green Eyed Monster). His episodes tend to dwell on the relationships between the characters more than moving the plot forward, and since Farscape really is about found family, I find they resonate with me more and more as the years go by. Ben truly had a knack for identifying what made these characters and their relationships work on a fundamental level. This episode does a few things extremely well. It gives us insight into John's struggle reconciling his conflicted feelings for Aeryn with his deep paranoia towards Scorpius, and the two are obviously very interlinked in his head at the moment. It also, without warning, reaffirms that Zhaan is a crucial and missing member of the Moya family and that wound has never truly healed over, even if it's not constantly explicitly stated in the text.

Angela, There is an official Farscape channel that you may be aware of. They have collections of deleted scenes by each season that were cut from the final versions aired. I first stumbled on the season 4 package (which you obviously cannot watch yet) and they were quite interesting, sometimes filling in plot questions and giving richer context to scenes that did make it. I recently viewed the deleted scenes from season 3, which you could watch, and I think you would enjoy them. An expanded goodbye between Aeryn and Crais before the carrier imploded and another "Dog with two bones" dream sequence revealing Aeryn's new planned career on earth are two I think you would especially like, among others.
