I honestly think I was too stunned to stop the episode and just watched through the end 😂 or maybe I just was really thirsty for more lore. Either way no regrets.

Kind of the ultimate "why can't we just get along?" episode, I'm shocked you didn't say it in the outro 😂. But yes, it is uncomfortably real that Eldians are a demonised ethnic diaspora, and yet the Restorationists who want to "bring back paradise" are similar in rhetoric to zionists. Interestingly, Eldians are germanic-coded in their names rather than jewish-coded, and the claimed history of them being an oppressive world power also muddies the water of a 1-to-1 analogy. The Reiss family is the Fritz family. I believe they just changed their name to remain anonymous within the walls, especially from the families whose memories couldn't be wiped.

Reiss is the Fritz family, just a name change to protect their identity. And yes you have to be Eldian to become a titan, no other race can.

So this is what people meant with the similarities to Nazi Germany, the arm band of the Nazi's, except these people with the arm bands are forced to wear them and not necessarily the bad guys of the story and the genocide against a group of people carried out by the people of Marley.

You did great Angela! You picked up so much! I don't think I'm alone in saying that I have been waiting for you to get to this episode since season 1 episode 1. You remembered almost all of the titan shifters too. The only one you missed was the "dog titan" (as you called it) we saw carry Reiner and Zeke away. Still more shocking twists to come.

This is why you're different from other people who watched this show. You just learned the lore and you're already against both sides. Whereas others were just "yeahhh kill Marley!!! Go Eldia!!" When Reiner and Bertholdt revealed their true identities, others were just "Traitors!! Kill them, Eren!!" but you were different. You still liked them deep inside and still feel sorry for them. You've said it so many times that you don't want them dead. And I'm with you on that even on my 1st watch. I really love Reiner's line during that episode. "We were just kids... we didn't know anything." Just like Grisha. Just like Zeke. Just like Eren.... It really echoes throughout the whole show. Lots of people put this show as their top 1 but keep missing the point. I'm so excited for you for season 4. I really can't wait now.

Fritz is the royal family, Reis is a fake name to hide their identity. Only Eldians can become Titans so Reiner, Bert, Annie etc are all Eldians just like Eren, but they are Eldians from Marley as opposed to Paradis. Also you the terms "Eldian" and "Subject of Ymir" are interchangeable

This episode is so jam-packed with information and references to past episodes, I had to watch it 3 times when it came out because I kept feeling like I was missing stuff. I loved your discussion after the episode, I'm glad you're enjoying it!

It's a this point that we now see that a lot of the interesting-looking titans were part of the Eldian resistance. The Santa lookalike titan, the one that eats the sick general at the end, Grisha's blonde friend that calls Zeke a traitor, Dina "Smiling Titan" Fritz, etc. It's a payoff to who/what the titans invading/terrorizing paradis island were.
