"Oh Eren what are you doing?!!?" He is keeping his promise. And like Eren said, he and Reiner are the same. Reiner caused many deaths and looks like Eren will do the same. Such a great episode! During this repeat watch, I noticed the ominous music building up like a cresecendo towards the cliffhanger... Ok, here we go! Oh how I wish we can have more than two AoT episodes a week. The next several episodes are going to be crazy!

When Eren said "I'm the same as you, Reiner." Angela probably missed that it is both in terms of mental suffering and their modus operandi. (When it is literally kill or be killed, they won’t hesitate to do anything necessary to protect loved ones)

Rashad T

Of course, Eren knew it was his grandfather. He has his dad's memories remember.

No, I 100% caught it. I just thought it was obvious that I disagree with any plan that kills people

If it's kill or be killed, what else can ya do? Lol Marley wants to destroy his people. He'll destroy them first. That's probably his mindset, Though I agree overall with your opinion Angela, it's bad to kill, but they did declare war on paradise sooo

Nathaniel Castle

Honestly, I can't blame Eren. The people of Paradis are painted as monsters, and Eldians are unendingly abused. It's nasty, but with an opportunity to clear out the enemy's military command with a single swing of my giant fist, I would do it

Rashad T

AOT is a masterclass when it comes to tension and atmosphere.

I can't be mad at eren really. They declared war on paradise. They call them devils. They've been killing, experimenting on and using his people for hundreds of years, and they don't plan to stop. At this point? What else can he do. He has the chance to wipe out their military front. I'd take it. I don't blame him lol

Peter Wyatt

At the same time, I can't blame Reiner. Him and Eren are "the same" in the sense that they were both children who were fed resentment to their hearts and didn't have much time to process these details to form their own opinion about anything. What was Reiner to do, as a kid, besides fulfill his mission? If he didn't, he goes back to Marley and gets eaten by another Warrior candidate. What was Eren to do, as a kid, besides chase his own mission which was to destroy all the titans? Eren was motivated by his grief and anger against the titans for killing his mom. Both Reiner and Eren were driven by feelings they thought they couldn't say "no" to. They were driven by instinct, rage, sadness, and not much else. You could even say that Eren was as brainwashed as Reiner due to the lack of knowledge he had over the rest of the world.

"I am so ready." no you are not, ma'am....

DieWinterkirsche

Yaaay, Warcrime-Eren! I am so ready for this! xD

Alkaris

I think this episode tests your beliefs of "Can we trust what they're saying, or is it propaganda?" I'd say it's a bit of both, they're telling the truth, but not the whole truth, omitting the specifics on purpose.

Whiffed

I mean, can you really blame Eren? He just heard all the world leaders agree to demolish his people and most of their military leadership is there in attendance. He just wanted Reiner to know it's not personal.

Ange! I hope you're not too far ahead that this is plenty of warning. From episode 17-22 please don't watch the intro! Skip it, or look away. 17 is where the intro changes and part 2 has got good music so if you want to listen we all want your reaction, however it's one of the intro spoilers that are notable with some of the art and clips they show. I'm one of the ones who is very pro-watching most all intros, but for this short span even I suggest to skip the intro as consistently as possible, and give it a solid watch through after around episode 22. Feel free to watch as you wish again after that! :)

I think we can all understand where Eren is coming from but I think history has also shown us that sympathizing with someone getting revenge or rationalizing it is always going to lead to more death. There's always going to be a reason to retaliate. Some rational, some excuse. And to most they will all pretty much seem justified in a vacuum from their point of view. Forgiveness isn't a virtue because it's easy. But because it's hard and necessary for everyone's survival.

Nathaniel Castle

I’d agree if they weren’t calling on the world to destroy them. At a certain point it’s not revenge it’s a necessary preemptive strike

demonic-myst
