I really like how General Rogard, who has only been told the Giant is a threat, puts all the pieces together once he gets all the relevant information and orders his men to stand down like a rational human being. The line delivery on "WHERE'S THE GIANT MANSELY??" is hilarious. In the shot of all the townspeople watching him fly up to the nuke, he is also saluting the Giant in the background.

You said you watched it on Netflix, but it doesn't seem to be available on Netflix, at least not for me. I see it's available to rent on Amazon Prime, but they have a regular version and a "signature edition" which is 6 minutes longer.

What a great start to the day. This is an all time favorite and I do cry every time. I saw this when it released in my early 20's and have easily watched it at least once a year since. Vin Diesel does his best work in voicing animated characters with limited dialog... I feel like I just gave him a backhanded compliment. I like how almost everyone calls Christopher McDonald with his Happy Gilmore character name Shooter McGavin. He just plays smarmy slimy people so well and has made quite a living off of it.

I missed this movie in theaters initially, but caught it when it came out on video - though I have managed to catch it in theaters twice; summer 2001 and summer 2023. I still cry every time. It seldom comes to mind when I'm curating a list of my favorite movies, but it probably should; I do absolutely love it. There's just something about giant robots that resonates with me. (I even took my name from one)

I personally only saw it for the first time maybe within the past 5 years (in my early 30s), but it is easily one of my favorite animated movies now. Heartbreaking of course and makes me cry every time but very beautifully animated and with a stellar soundtrack and cast.
