It always seems to be with these stories that this man has no money and must beg that someone recognise his title and yet behaves in a way that is more knightly than any of those around him

I don't think this is a spoiler since it's basically just a fan theory but GRRM has weighed in on this, so for those very averse to even just that sort of thing, Imma write this a couple paragraphs down. ... Even further. ... Here's good. So there's definitely a pretty well-known fan theory that Dunk is related in some way to Brienne. The most obvious textual evidence is that Brienne remembers seeing a shield at her home with a sigil that sounds very similar to what Dunk has (the tree under the shooting star). But obviously, the two characters are also very closely related thematically, they are both not "proper" knights (it's technically not confirmed yet whether Ser Arlan actually did knight Dunk before he died) but in a different sense, they are both truer knights than most of the other knights we see in the story. They actually uphold the true values and honors of knighthood without getting the respect of mainstream noble society, and they're both outcasts for it. Plus, you know, they're both really tall ^^ Apparently GRRM has confirmed this theory in some sort of meeting with fans but I don't know the details of what he said, I think he said that Dunk was an ancestor of Brienne, and that all would be revealed "eventually", whatever that means. It's hard to know how it would work though seeing that we know a fair bit of how Dunk's story works out in the end and it's unclear how his lineage would make it into the House of Tarth. But we'll see. Hopefully. At some point. Maybe. Probably not.

I'm growing to love this show more and more...😍 I am pretty sure you're right. I think Egg is short for Aegon and he shaved his head to not be recognized by his white hair...😊🤔 It is nice for once that there are no wars to fight, no kingdoms get destroyed, no thrones are fought over, just a charming and lighthearted tale about the "small folk" of Westeros.

Both of your reactions have been so damn good and hilarious. I could not stop laughing at all of your reactions throughout the first 2 episodes. This show is absolutely awesome, and btw if you didn’t know it is already greenlit for 3 seasons with S2 coming out in 27 and S3 in 28. (So awesome we will get this show yearly between HOTD and after!!) And George RR Martin has already given an outline for future seasons after the first 3 and is currently writing more stories for more seasons after these 3. And I heard after the 3rd season there will be a little break to let the characters dunk and egg age up so they don’t have to recast. I will take however many seasons they can possibly give of these 2!! Their relationship is so wholesome and just fun. The jousting scene was incredible as well. The visuals, the sounds, the costumes was all incredible and really well shot.

If true, I dont think it's meant to be a twist. It's just showing how naive Dunk is. He takes everything at face value. When I read this novella I thought it was going to be a sinple story about a knight and his squire at a tourney, but it became my favorite story set in Westeros.

Getting away from all the pompous politics and devious conniving of the other Westeros shows is very, very welcome to me. This all stuff we'd never see in Game of Thrones or the other one. It's the story of those who are usually beneath the notice of kings, princes and lords. The actors for Dunk and Egg are so charismatic and charming, and Dunk's earnestness and sincerity are great. He's the complete antithesis of "you have to be a bastard to survive," which is usually the message of GRRM's world. You want him to succeed, so badly. And, while we've not seen him fight yet, we've seen him charm both Lyonel Baratheon and Prince Baelor. He's definitely got the ability to win the favour of the great and the good (as few as there might be who embody that second characteristic).

Targaryen’s have little imagination when it comes to names,handing down names in a family is honoring ancestors but at a certain point it just gets too much
