It’s so EARLY 😍😍😍

DieWinterkirsche

OMG! You picked thumbnail I was guessing earlier! Angela, the Doctor Who Spoiler Channel on your Discord were so sorry about what´s to come... especially after you started Season 7, because this fucking episode basically has a "trapdoor"-ending... like when they reappear at the graveyard it´s like this false sense of safety.. you all survived and the episode is ending, sooo nothing bad wiil happen and then shit hits the fan...

Merkavar

Oh, nice and early

Alkaris

It's so sad to see then go like this... but he promised to keep them safe, and now they're not.

Brian

Neat behind the scenes fact: When The Doctor is reading the last page, Karen Gillan was there reading it out loud for Matt for his close ups. And since you asked about Brian, I hope you’ve watched the epilogue that wasn’t filmed but was storyboarded about Brian after Rory and Amy get sent back in time by the Angels. Titled “PS” by Chris Chibnall https://youtu.be/XWU6XL9xI4k?si=ibRZXWETgLCb1zGw

Brian

Also, when Rory disappears and then Amy follows, not once during the whole thing does River look away. She holds her mother’s hand and tells her to do it and when Amy goes and the Doctor loses it, she keeps staring at that Angel, knowing what’ll happen if she doesn’t keep watching. Even though she has to watch her parents get taken away, she takes care of the Doctor. Always loved that.

Alex

Nothing like complete and utter emotional obliteration in the morning lol. Let’s all be honest, this episode is the reason we’ve all been patrons this whole time 😏

Nathan Jasper

River was so strong in that moment, watching the angel so the Doctor could have his moment of sadness. River's amazing.

Nathaniel Castle

Damn this is an early drop I’m excited to watch this tonight!

Chill4xed

Not the reason but I was certain I'd be here watching this episode specifically.

Jonathan Giles

Oh good. A nice happy episode of DW........ 😢

Rach

When this aired everyone knew they were leaving and that this was essentially a mid-season finale before a break, thanks to the BBC's inability (or unwillingness) to avoid spoiling everything in promos. In this case though I think it was wise to pre-warn people because without that pre-knowledge it hits way harder, possibly too hard for a family show even. It was hard enough to watch the first time knowing it was their last episode. That said, this episode really is great on a rewatch, and if we had to lose Amy and Rory, at least they died of old age together.

Benjamin

Angela, on behalf of Whovians EVERYWHERE, same, absolutely same, and we are so sorry, we knew this day was coming!. We love you so much! you really are one of us now! thank you for always wearing you heart on your sleeve with these reactions!

Jeremy B

This one always hits hard. Not sure 'looking forward to' is the right expression in this case, but I'll be watching your reaction as soon as I'm done with work later today. If I recall Karen and Arthur discussed things between themselves and decided it was time to move on and that they should go together rather than split their characters up. They also asked Moffat to write them out in a way that they couldn't just simply return a year or two later and undo the drama of their final moments.

Merkavar

Hotel quay, is that how Americans pronounce quay Or is it a funnylilgal pronunciation? I recently found out Americans say bouy as boo-ee instead of boy.

Iwasneverhere

Tears have been leaking hard since "Happy now... Sad later...". "Dinosaurs! I'm so happy". I have kids to get off to school before I get the quite moment for this reaction.

Carl Wilson

I love that you think of Brian, which I have to admit I didn't when I first saw this. That aside, the important thing, I think, is that they still had the long happy life together that they wanted - and "normal life" in a sense, just in a different time, which might just be "not normal" enough for them. (The part about when time can and can't be rewritten - I'm afraid there are never fair and stable rules about that on this show.) It's a very sad goodbye but no one will ever be like Amy and Rory, and we'll never forget them - the show's greatest love story. Hope you enjoyed your margarita!

Carl Wilson

Angela - save for a quiet moment and have tissues!

Knew this was going to be a rough one; quite the heavy episode. The green of the logo in the title sequence for this one is the oxidized copper of Lady Liberty, and you can see her crown across the right side of the logo. I don't think it was just "it has to happen because we read it in a book" but rather "because we read it in a book about the events we're living through written by someone who will be there with us." And while the Tardis can handle / prevent paradoxes to some extent, as we saw all the way back in Father's Day that function is compromised when there's a passenger crossing their own timestream. I remember on first watch the episode didn't hit me as hard, but that's specifically because halfway through I was forced to stop watching and go to the grocery store, and I didn't slip smoothly back into the story when I returned. But watching it again later, yeah, oof. Though it's kind of a fitting end for Amy and Rory, considering some of what they've gone through to be together. I love the moment when Amy takes Rory's hand, defying fate. And the scene on the roof, when Amy climbs onto the ledge with Rory - makes me think of her and her older self doing the Macarena in The Girl Who Waited. Rory really was just the best. And in the end Amy was pretty great too.

Cleverusernamed97

I've been waiting for this since I first started watching your reaction videos, because I knew this episode would get to you. And it's now one of my favorite reactions to this episode. Amy and Rory are my favorite companions and it was sad to see them go. Rip to the legends.

Fr. Brench

The next companion had already been announced before this season even started, so we in the audience knew that the Ponds were on their way out at some point. That foreknowledge did not, however, ruin our viewing experience of this episode - it's still quite the gut punch!

Purple Nurple

Notification for new episode - yay! Oh it's this episode... tears incoming. This episode turns from a horror movie into a tragedy...

J.W. Moore

This episode. This is the most heartbreaking and tragic episodes of Dr Who. I cried for hours. You are not alone. Hugs

dean worrall

everyone listening to your intro.... 👀😒🤦‍♂️

Paulo

Yeah I have to watch this episode twice in a row and it was around 2020 when I watched it. I was crying so much I couldn’t fully watch it. Also I kinda curious what would be like watching a season where the doctor travels alone, it would be interesting. Hope you are resting and having a good time.

Jay Willis

I know some people hate that they kind of pull the rug out from under you. They make you think they survived and it's a happy ending, and then there's a survivor Angel who wrecks it. But I always thought it was a beautiful ending for them. After so many plot lines of Rory waiting for Amy, or Amy waiting for Rory, Amy being in love with the Doctor in the beginning, choosing Rory, Rory being unsure if Amy loves the Doctor or him more, etc. It was nice to have them choose each other on the roof, and then for Amy to choose Rory over everything. The only thing I never liked was the short lived divorce at the start of the season.

James Fleischman

Goodbye to Amy and Rory. This has definitely been my favourite era of Who.

Ben

It only feels like a rug pull if your watching it retrospectively anyway, because if you were watching at the time in 2012 (like myself) there's a strong chance you would have known this was Amy & Rory's last episode and therefore that they weren't safe even after jumping off the building.

Stephen Wray

13.5 years later and multiple watches with reactors and still hits hard. Don't think there are many TV shows that make me this emotional

Nathaniel Castle

This is definitely one of the cruelest episodes, they get away, the story wraps up And then BANG! right in the gut

DieWinterkirsche

I was like "well, about that.... Hey, you get to see River!" xD

Smithylufc

Please please please watch the mini animated storyboard 'PS' that gives more details and fallout from this episode! I'm sure someone may have already sent it to you and informed you of it, but this is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XWU6XL9xI4k

John B

The irony of Dinosaurs on a Spaceship getting released on YouTube and the Angels episode premiering on the same day is astounding. Two completely opposite reactions

John Prince

My personal feelings about finale's back-and-forth emotionally: - oh, no, not Rory again, damn it :( - YAY, they alright now! - DAMN!!! - yay? last second save? - damn.... Will also say that watching P.S. is crucial because it's about Brian finding out about Rory and Amy. It really gives closure to this half of season.

Brian

Oh, By the way there is one last “Rory and Amy” video that was filmed during lockdown with Arthur Darville & Karen Gillan (voice). It is a sort of update from their normal life in the past. It was filmed and released during COVID lockdown and contains absolutely no spoilers to anything else but a sweet little video. “Rory’s Story” - https://youtu.be/eVqW4XjZwC8?si=uzYrPwX452_UTCyz Enjoy.

Ben “Bentendo” Dawson

If you think watching the scene with The Doctor reading Amy's goodbye was tough in the episode, find the version from Doctor Who Confidential where in order to film it with the right emotion Karen sits on the bench out of shot and reads the page to Matt so that it hits him the right way. And yes, collective hysteria both at the time of broadcast way back when, as well as every time since...

Peter Powis

Although sad, I coped knowing that Rory and Amy were together the rest of their lives and lived happily. its the short cartoon episode P.S. , which is Rory's letter to Brian. This really broke my heart!!

Captain Painway

"Why is it always Rory?" Because it's about how much Amy loves Rory. Season 5 was Amy choosing Rory over the Doctor. Season 6 was Amy choosing their family over adventure. Season 7 was Amy choosing Rory over everything else. Rory's love and devotion is never a question, but Amy's is THE question of the arc.

John

River having to watch losing her parents hurts, but after losing both of my parents I took solace in the fact that they didn't have to lose me. No parent should have to lose a child.

John

Fun trivia, there's a Doctor Who themed restaurant in New York called The Pandorica. While they were in New York for filming, Matt, Karen and Arthur all went to The Pandorica one day. Imagine the reactions. :) And yes, they have Fish Fingers and Custard on the menu. https://www.thepandoricarestaurant.com/

Tyler S. Chase

Fun fact you could actually purchase and read the book on Kindle that is featured in this episode. A Melody Malone mystery The Angels kiss.

David T

I know many of us would love to share your reaction to the unfinished “P.S.” which we can all easily watch along with via YouTube (just search for Doctor Who: P.S. Series 7). It’s very moving and it answers questions you yourself asked. I also hope you’ll rejoin season 7 soon with the Christmas special—it flows very naturally from where we left off so there isn’t the usual jarring jolt. At any rate, take the time you need and we’ll look forward to rejoining you as soon as you’re ready.

Gothic Alice

Our dog got legitimately upset and wanted to make sure you were okay.

Matthew Hunter

I'd love an audio story (from Big Finish Productions) where River visits Brian and drags him into an adventure.
