The one I've been waiting for! I know this is gonna be a heart wrenching watch

Tristan Reynolds

I'm literally lying in bed I'm supposed to be asleep..... I can stay up for a other hour 🤣

Ben

Please tell me you reacted to the minisode that comes after this episode!

RYCBAR

I will always remember when the companions were them.

DeathSwitch

Part of me really doesnt want to click on this video.. I know this is gunna rock my shit, I've just woken up 🥴😅

funnylilgalreacts

I did not but I watched it. I’m happy to have that for myself though

Darren Withers

Yeah, I’m also commenting before watching. This is a truely bittersweet ending for Amy and Rory. They’re gone for us, but they’ve gone together and they lived out their lives in peace. So heartbreaking but so perfect too. I’m so glad they finally ended up a companion run mid season because it was so unexpected, but it was such a shock at the time. Anyway, reactions starting, so…. Geronimo!

C

Forgot how much of a heart breaker this episode is

JPL042

And with that sadly, that’s season 7a in the books 😢

Leo Cap

when you announced that you'd be watching this series back in 2024, this was the very first episode that came to my mind. we've all collectively been on the edge of our seats for this one since the beginning all things considered, after years of watching this -- I find it beautiful. this is the culmination of Amy's arc. her entire run was characterized by a conflict of interest between real life and the Doctor, specifically between the Doctor and Rory. while bittersweet, there's solice in the fact that she chose Rory so firmly, so finally. the Doctor's negotiation tactics didn't stand a chance. it's upsetting to see her essentially ignore the Doctor's desperation in her last moments, but it's also equally satisfying to see Amy immortalize her & Rory. this is the true meaning of her story, finally and fully shedding the skin of "the Girl Who Waited". Doc is her best friend, but Rory is simply home.

Doug C

You totally deserve a break, especially after this heartbreak, but that "unfilmed scene" is SO pivotal to this. If you could please consider a mini-reaction? Or commentary? Or something? I won't spoil anything, but I found it healing after this... I'll be eagerly awating your return at Christmas. :-)

DarkStar 57

This legit made me non verbal for like a week when it first came out. I was in PIECES just crying no words. Amy and Rory were one of those companions I really really liked lmaoo...welp...Geronimo...*presses play button* 🥹🥹🥹🥹😭😭😭

James Miller

This killed me the first time I saw it. I had no clue it was coming. Rory and Amy with 11 were my favorite times of the show.

Darren Withers

Yep, just finished it. I was in tears… again.

Darren Withers

Glad you watched P.S. I hope you’ll talk about it a little in the intro to the next episode.

Dingus Ex Machina

All these years later, Moffat is still getting paid his royalties in viewers' tears.

Systemise And Scale

Can't wait to watch this later! Been waiting for this one! 7a is such a nice run, looking forward to 7b though and the specials 🙂

Leo Cap

round of applause for Karen & Arthur, most iconic companion run of all time

Pickapok

As much as the emotional payoff of this episode hits... I have a hard time believing that there isn't at least one person looking at the Statue of Liberty at all times. How did it get all the way across the bay?!

Shanaeri Rynale

It is sad to see Karen and Arthur leave (don't think about how they could be rescued too much, it spoils it) . But the happy take away is that after Dr Who, Arthur's and especially Karen's career really took off, so hindsight says this was the best move they(and their characters) could make.

Adinium

I wouldn’t say the Angels are played out at all, they have only had 2 stories before this

Josef Schiltz

I was thinking about this before I watched your reaction. Sad for Brian. Mixed emotions on this, because his grandson isn't his family line strictly speaking.

Cody Thomas Sinclair

I've seen you say that you've watched P.S. but there's also a sequel called "Rory's Story" that was released during the COVID lockdowns, it should still be available on YouTube if you haven't watched it.

Jaime Unson

I was totally devastated as the Doctor when Amy said, “Raggedy man, goodbye.” I had no idea that fictional characters could cause such heartbreak. I was such a blubbering mess. I think I didn’t stop crying for like an hour after viewing the episode. Worst still, there was no one to talk to about it. For Amy, it was just the logical and most romantic thing to do. If Stephen Moffat were an emotional vampire, he hit the jackpot, big time. Chef’s kiss. Matt, Arthur, and Karen really sold it. If you still hadn’t fallen for these three yet, this episode sealed it.

Gambit3838

Now I can say I'M NOT READY FOR THIS without folks jumping down my throat saying I'm spoiling. Even tho I said absolutely nothing about the show. ☝️

demonic-myst

this was a everyone involved decition interesting enough the actors contracts were allready up both wante move on and moffet felt that the storylines for them had naturaly cioncluded

Michael

The scene where The Doctor is reading Amy's farewell to him Karen Gillan didn't have to be there for the scene. But she insisted on sitting next to Matt on the bench and reading the lines for him. As well as the P.S. epilogue there is also a behind the scenes of the episode that's worth watching. Amy and Rory will always be my favourite companions, I've never experienced a Tardis team that felt more like a family than Eleven, Amy, Rory and River.

Michael

Even more tragic is River always knew this was her parents fate. Her adventures with Amy and Rory were all after this for her. There's a scene where Rory comes to visit River in prison and she looks so happy to see him 😭 The brief scene we see of River visiting Amy and Rory at home for a catch up over wine I like to think they did a lot, River spending as much time as she could with them before she loses them

Isaiah

Onto 7b. We made it you guys.

Darren Withers

I was thinking it would have been nice for River to introduce herself to Brian at some point for that exact reason too, I mean she’s his biological granddaughter, after all! I guess that just wasn’t in the cards, though.

Jason

River says they have taken over almost every staue in the city and they are using the building as a battery farm, thats a huge amountof temporal energy, more than enough power for a massive city-wide perception filter, a Who stable when there is something people arent suposed to notice or see (like when the TARDIS materialises in the middle of a busy street and no one notices). For everyone else not directly involved Lady Liberty would not appear to have moved at all.

SantaDog

i will never forgive rory for not going straight into the tardis

Jake Beaumont

A quay (key) is a platform that slopes into water for ships to be brought ashore. It's often used in places names, similar to "Docks". I guess more common in the UK cause we're an island but anywhere by water.

Michael Siegel

Between this and the Iron Giant, we're doing a fair amount of crying. The end of this episode hit hard the first time. And seeing you experience it make it hit hard all over. Thank you for sharing with us.

Jason

If you go all the way back to the very first episode of 11, Eleventh Hour, the night Amelia is out in the garden we see a shadowy figure darting across the kitchen - the assumption at the time was it was Prisoner Zero, but Moffat always maintained there was a secret in that episode that would be revealed in time, the secret was it was actually the Doctor returning from this point in time to tell little Amelia the story. He plays the long game does Moffat!

Jessica H.

I said next week should be fun last week and got a bunch of spoiler replies lol

Gambit3838

This is such an awesome show. SPOILER. She needs her own opinion. Lol

Lord Nobody

I've never understood why the Doctor didn't just go back in time and create a fake tombstone for Amy and Rory.

Easton Hanson

I highly highly recommend watching the short deleted scene called P.S. and an extra video called Doctor Who:Lockdown it pretty much follows right after this episode.

Easton Hanson

I don’t think so because she said she was professor song, which means that this is way later in her timeline, Andrew said she was pardoned ages ago which makes this after the crash of the Byzantium

Carl Wilson

I wouldn't go that far - there are *lots of iconic ones - but there are no *duos like them

Darth Muppet

Been dreading this one, but excited for you to see what comes next.

Reyo Abyssblood

go on youtube and look up dr who p.s it shows you how brian found out

Fred Aczon

BBC and Moffat was really trolling us when this season aired. For the 7x1 promo it was announced that Jenna Coleman was joining the show, with the main promotional picture being the scene where the Doctor was carrying Amy's unconscious, possibly lifeless, body with the Daleks. Naturally everybody thought Amy would die that episode and Jenna Coleman would replace her. Everybody was shocked when Oswin died as she was introduced (just as everybody had fallen instantly in love with her), and the Pond's heartbreaking departure came not from a tentpole premiere or finale, but out of nowhere.

Simply.Beyond

😭😭😭 every time, I can never watch this and not bawl my eyes out. This trio is my crew, these are my favorite companions with MY Doctor.

Leo Cap

“together, or not at all”

David Vandervliet

I am here at 10:30am and there are already 50 comments.. haven't even started watching yet. I know its going to be a glorious, crying, mess... I dread and relish watching it. Hope you have recovered some

Logan Giddings

Farewell to my favorite companions, you will be missed

Jason

Not sure about retcon, Perception Filter has been in Who for donkeys years, although my favourite use of it was actually when one time showrunner Douglas Adams reused it in his Hitchhikers series with the much more appropriate name of the Someone Else's Problem Field. And I'm pretty sure seeing the Statue of Liberty get up from its place, wade across the bay and head into the city to zap someone back in time would definitely count as Someone Else's Problem! :)

Howie

The Matt Smith episode everyone was waiting for you to react to. Thank you for your tears. It's always sad when beloved companions leave, but there is also the hopeful prospect of new ones visiting the TARDIS... right around the corner.

Drake

its so early in the season how can anything bad happen. pleasec watch the short "PS"

David Vandervliet

I grew up and was still living in the city when they were filming this episode, and went to Gramcercy Park when the filmed the scenes there, The scene where River picks them up in the car. Interestingly enough Alex Kingston didn't come to NY for the filming. It's a man driving, the stunt woman they booked couldn't drive the vintage stick. I have a couple pics of the filming.... I'll have to find them and share them

glenn sawyer

One of my favorite river lines "just wait until my husband gets home"

glenn sawyer

I love it when amy says "its called marriage" it was lost in the edit but thats ok

glenn sawyer

This episode is basically a mid season finale, its hard to think where it could go from there, but its just as amazing

glenn sawyer

I would suggest you record the reaction to P. S. Its has a back to future element

Nate Hammer

Yeah, knew this was going to be a tough one on Angela.

Jeremy B

The events of this episode are time-locked. Lots of factors have caused that including the mass involvement of the angels over many decades, the paradox that Rory and Amy caused, and the fact that they already know their future from seeing the gravestone. The Doctor can't even go back to NY, let alone try and interact with Amy and Rory.

Firefly24601

Friar Tuck got MEAN in his old age....

Literaltruth

I REALLY REALLY hope that either Angela or whoever is queuing up the episodes knows that the Christmas special is after this and is in the MIDDLE of Season 7 not the end. Another reactor I watch skipped the special and it REALLY ruined the reaction to watch it in the wrong order.

Liem

Moffat really said TRAUMA, HEARTBREAK and MIND FUCK for this episode. We was told beforehand by Moffat that Amy and Rory would leave in “heartbreaking” circumstances and my god he wasn’t lying.

James Fleischman

This episode calls for a diabetic coma amount full of chocolate

Firefly24601

River gets to see her parents again, Amy has to give River the book to plant in the Doctor's coat. It's the Doctor, for (plot and production) reasons, that can't see Amy and Rory again.

dean worrall

nevermind, someone put a link to it below..

dean worrall

no, she gives it to Amy to get it published back when they got zapped to..

Leo Cap

it's important to remember that Doc and River aren't just "travelling in opposite directions", but they "meet in the wrong order". this is very late in River's timeline -- perhaps one of her last handful of interactions with the Doctor before going to the Library, to be honest

Bill Roland

As soon as I saw the Patreon notification of this post, the tears started. I love your intros and outros, especially on this episode - and there were so many things in this intro that showed your love for this show, and so many of them broke my heart because of what I knew lay ahead for you in the episode. Every time you mentioned Drew during this episode, and the outro, made me feel so happy for you. It is clear that you feel so much love for him and feel so loved by him.

alpha charlie bravo

This episode is the start of Moffat's villain era as Show Runner.

John the Rambling Scriblerian

Everyone has their own opinions, and everyone has their preferences. For me, The Doctor, Amy, and Rory were the perfect triad and represent the best of the New Who era. Back when this aired, I was so... wounded that this was the end of that grouping. Good things followed, of course. But for me, it was the end of a wonderful time that would never come again. And being able to share these moments with you made the moment quite special. Thank you.

John Prince

Paraphrasing brilliant Ood Sigma's words from 10th final story - Their story has ended, but the story never ends. Have a nice vacation and come back to Doctor Who, there are more companions and Doctor to fall in love with - you are still in the middle of New Who era (if we count Gatwa seasons as 14th and 15th seasons)

Thomas Mahrle

Please please react to P.S. it will give you more closure

s4ean

Does she read the comments? There's a lot of them. I've seen this happen 3 times, and the second two times I left comments on earlier episodes that were either overlooked, or the reactors just didn't read them. Once, someone went on to season 8 without watching the Christmas Special before it, smh... that was a frustrating watch.

V1rtu0u5

Awww huuuugs New awesome adventures is whats next. Its always whats next 😸

Kevin (GiantFutures.com)

This episode made me tear up…but there’s another episode that made me cry much, much more. Actually, two more. Y’all know the ones. ;) And those two are yet to come. And I don’t cry nearly as much as Angela…should we viewers find a way to let her in-laws know in advance when those episodes are coming, just so she has those dad jokes waiting for her? This was a great episode to say goodbye to. But I can not lie……………..I can’t wait for her to meet the next person who gets a key to the Tardis. And also the one after that!

Matt Walters

Agree, before moving onto 7X6 The Snowmen, you have to watch the 5 minute short, P.S.

SuperJohnPatterson

Pls react to P.S as well as covids P.S.S in that order as P.S.S will sooth the trauma .

John Miller

As hard as this episode was, I do have to say, it's one of my favorite farewells to companions.

William Wood

A hard watch, and upsetting. Very enjoyable. But it always left unanswered questions. Some of which were answered in extras, which you may watch. But given they lived decades longer, and were happy, I alway wondered why the Doctor couldn’t have met them elsewhere and in their future. I’m sure there is an explanation, but I haven’t seen one so far.

Geoffrey T. Blackwell

This episode always infuriates me. The Statue of Liberty?! This episode would have us believe that *no one* in New York City *looked* at the Statue of Liberty as it walked down the streets of Manhattan?! Two things will take me out of a story faster than anything: disrespecting the audience and breaking the rules of the story. Moffat did both in this episode and at that point I was pretty much done with him. In the words of Benoit Blanc, "It's so dumb!"

Leo Cap

I always thought the statue of liberty thing was superfluous anyways and is easily ignored — if you remove it from the story it changes nothing, and the important beats from the episode still hold strong as a principle though, i feel you 100% — this is pretty much exactly how I felt about the main twist of S6 (not River; that was perfect. I mean Doc’s death). outright telling the audience the twist and then denying it in the same breath is incomprehensible

Grey boi

Please do a reaction to P.S.

Stephen Ray

I love watching the intro, knowing what's coming. It might have been less of a surprise if she had known, as we did, that this was a mid-season finale followed by a break and a Christmas special.

Kettlebright

I couldn't agree more. So many things that bothered me with this ep, like Moffett was so focused on the farewell and writing the Ponds out of the Doc's life in a unique way, but his solutions fall apart if you take any time to think about it. 1. The Giant Statue would firstly, never be able to move with the hundreds of eyes on it around the city, and secondly, if it did move, it would be the only thing anyone in the city would be talking about, a big obvious unexplainable entity stomping around. 2. 1938 NYC being banned from time travel due to time distortions is convenient for preventing the Dr from saving Amy and Rory, but. There are SO many workarounds here. If the TARDIS can't land, can River? she got in to NYC with her Vortex Manipulator, and the VM has been shown to hop multiple people around (like Jack, Ten, and Martha all the way from the end of the universe). If the VM is also blocked, what are the limits of these distortions? why not travel to NYC a month, year, decade earlier, and wait it out? if NYC is now permanently blocked across all time, why not travel to NJ, or Ohio, or heck, California, and make the journey analog-style? And, AND, if all that is impossible - the next easiest solution is just the Doctor letting the Angel poke him too, and following the Ponds into the Past. He could either help them escape, or even just settle in as a friend, take some time off and grow up with them, let them live their lives, and meet up with River and the TARDIS in the future by living his way to it. River could either pilot the TARDIS herself, or just lock it and leave it to wait for the Doc. 3. "Once you've read it, it's written in stone" is the dumbest rule out there. So Doctor "Rule one is the Dr Lies" is going to take every written text as 100% honest fact? Why couldn't River, miss 'Spoilers' herself, write a science FICTION book loosely based on them, instead of perfectly accurate? She's from the future and lying to them all the time, why can't the lies be in print? I get the point of the conceit, I get what they were going for, but it falls apart with even a modest amount of imagination, felt like the writers fell way short, too focused on the emotional punch of their goodbye to the Ponds. (now, all that said - ! I still enjoyed the episode and loved the acting in the farewell. I just know it *could* have been better written.

Paul Bristow

21:30 - [BLINKS IN BRITISH] Well, of *course* it's pronounced "kee"! It's spelled "quay", isn't it? =:oo [SHRUGS IN BAFFLEMENT] =;o] (Your dictionary-writers did you a great disservice, USA. [SYMPATHETIC HUGS AROUND AN ENTIRE MULTI-STATE NATION] )

Paul Bristow

That is an excellent and very well thought-through response. [SALUTES YOU] OK. I'll admit, my first reaction was "Oh dear God, doesn't this idiot know what paragraphs are?!?", but I'm guessing there was probably some technical reason why things you intended to present as clearly separate points are somehow visually showing up at my end as one massive block of text. =;o} Yes, lots have fans have pointed out that there are numerous logical flaws in the episode, and... you know what? For once, I'm not gonna blame Moffat (like nearly all the rest of y'all do). I'm gonna blame Jenna Coleman, for being so f***ing brilliant in her auditions, let alone her performance as "Oswin", that Moffat said "yep, let Arthur and Karen stay on for another half-season if they really want to; I think I've got a cunning plan to exploit that..." There, now fight over *that* conspiracy theory, fellow-fans! =}:o] (P.S., Only joking. I strongly suspect that the real fault lies with the BBC's longer-term planning peeps, who decided - for reasons to do with sports-coverage, which is highly prioritised in their Royal Charter - that they wanted the season to start later in the year, and thus spill over into the following year. That forced Moffat to place his planned Xmas special mid-season, rather than between seasons, and that led to the idea of Season 7a being a "filler" half-season of "movie-style" episodes, with SM's *actual* plans for the season being squished into Season 7b. And that in turn led to Karen and Arthur both being contracted for a few more episodes but *NOT* a full season, and thus the rather lovely "weaning off" arc we got, instead of something more "traditional" in the way of companion departures. ) (P.P.S. How much attention the BBC should really pay to "mainstream" sports, that are readily and voraciously gobbled up for coverage by much more richly-moneyed broadcasters, is debatable: Maybe, as a publicly funded service, they should focus more on the kinds of sports that *don't* draw huge crowds today, but which might prove more popular in future *if only more people knew they existed*. But if they did that, then in the short term they might lose a huge chunk of their audience, and thus their ability to introduce rare and under-represented sports, or other interests, to the general public, and might also support for the license fee sharply decline.... Which would be a shame, because IMHO, the BBC has always delivered massive cultural value, even in those rare years where there was not a single thing in their output (aside from "Doctor Who") I wanted to watch or listen to.)
