I was so excited for you to meet Laboon, and as much as I would love for you to watch the like 1160 episodes of the Anime and for you to notice all the differences regarding how early we get certain knowledge in the Live Action adaptation, and so on... and that´s the beauty of adapting an almost 30 year old manga/anime... you can integrate stuff this early that the anime revealed like 400 episodes later. And yes, the Anime is extremly hectic, funny, silly and amazing, but it´s also very sad, emotional and dark at times... idk how much the live action version will cover, but you´re in for a ride... ^^

It seems to me that if a whale submerges when you tranquilize it, wouldn't it be in danger of drowning? BTW, the scene where Usopp suggests that Crocus could live inside Laboon is a nod to the fact that in the anime/manga, the crew first meets Crocus inside Laboon's stomach, where Crocus has a house on a little "island" (lined with metal on the bottom). This allows Crocus to administer medicine to Laboon from inside, without needing to penetrate his outer skin.

One point of trivia: you can hear the song Bink's Brew playing in the background during the scene from season 1 where Shanks is stitching up Luffy's scar.

Can confirm, the one piece manga and anime are THAT emotional. The live action does such a great job of capturing those tearjerking moments!!

"Gather up all of the crew! It's time to ship out Bink's brew! Sea wind blows To where? Who knows? The waves will be our guide! O'er across the ocean's tide Rays of sunshine far and wide Birds they sing of cheerful things, in circles passing by!" That song always gets me! The first two episodes of season 2 premiered in theaters, and in my showing, the diehard One Piece fans started singing along to Bink's Sake!! And to answer your question at the end. Yes, the anime, while crazy, funny and action-packed, will also rip your heart out with the emotional storytelling, many times over! As seen here and others like Nami's backstory. They keep finding ways finding way to one-up them!! There is a reason why it is one of the top anime and best-selling manga out there. The live action is doing it's job so well! And here is a video of the song Bink's Sake Spoiler-free, no pics or footage from the show, just the Lyrics. :P https://youtu.be/ip3fv98jz2k?si=CdBIMhIejh4oTYCU And for us anime/manga fans, how did they keep that casting from being leaked!!! The showing I was at lost it at that part!!

Vexkun

I can't believe they name-dropped Laugh Tale so soon!

Zachary Vail (Zeebee)

I was so stoked to see a certain character so soon. Anyone worth their bones knows who I mean.

Alkaris

I believe Oda thinks they wont do the show for more than 7 seasons maybe., they might not even do 5.

Tysurge

Why do you say that? He only says he hopes they get to a specific arc but that could be referring to the cast before maybe they recast

Nobody cries over a whale unless it's Laboon. This episode will get everyone, even people who watch the anime version get it too. The emotions this series brings will give you the highs and the lows, they are equally 1:1 on getting the right emotions for the scenes that matches with the anime and live-action versions. Their setups are a little different but they still hit you hard with emotions. It's also kinda why I wish people watched the Anime version, but people being scared off with the 1,122+ episodes there are, but it means you get to enjoy something you really like for longer, and the pacing is a little different. It been over 50 years when Laboon was left behind with Crocus. A long time to kept waiting. The Marines have war ships capable of traversing the Calm Belt and in to The Grand Line, these are typically ships with specially fitted rudder wheels, but even if you could cross through The Calm Belt you still have to deal with Sea Monsters which will attack any ship who crosses through it. Though the Marines have a way of keeping them away.

I know you know this already, but you should definitely have tissues handy while watching this show. There's one episode in particular which will definitely get to you (more than this one), though I won't say which one.
