Never really had the same faith in Moffat the same way you do but that’s after years and years of reflection of these stories and also having grown up with Classic Who too. But I’m glad you enjoy his stories. Because there’s quite a few of them I still love, regardless of my dislike of most of his stuff. Still love his Doctors, just not most of his stories. I’m more of a Chris Chibnall (pre-era and during his era, as well as his work in Torchwood) guy than either RTD or Moffat but we can talk more about that when you get to the Chibnall era

Josef Schiltz

Trolling from a time machine! Reference to the Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy with the hologram leopard!

m azr

Chibnall 😂

JC Whittaker

You can laugh if you want, that’s why I emphasized that it’s my opinion

Tobias Kuhn

Claras reaction, when she saw the pic of Amy, was priceless

Lucky Lavender

Thank you for uploading these reactions. I think it’s necessary for you to share your reactions regarding these minisodes with us. Because it’s so much fun!

Frank J

This one even I hadn't seen yet.

Zachary Vail (Zeebee)

It’s past the time and not technically canonical Doctor Who, but I would recommend checking out “David Tennant and Lauren Cooper” sketch on Comic Relief, even if you don’t film a reaction to it. It’s only about six minutes, but so worth it. “I’m not bothered” if you don’t. Should be viewable on YouTube

Josef Schiltz

"Awriiiiight." Actually, would really, really, really love to see Angela's reaction to that. Super, super fun!

Josef Schiltz

Actually, I think that Steven Moffat is far more of an in-depth fan of both Doctor Who and Science Fiction in general, as opposed to RDT and Chibnall being more fans of themselves. He has only - in my view - done one real travesty of writing which was painfully and very annoyingly obvious and which deserves the question, WTF were you doing there, Steven?? That time, you really needed a script editor who knew the character - as you should have - and would tell you, flat out, the fans ain't going to like this! We were missing Terrance Dicks and David Whitaker there!

JC Whittaker

I am the opposite of you, where I see RTD and Moffat as more fans of themselves and “their vision of what they see Doctor Who as” more so, RTD than Moffat, where Moffat, for me has written a masterpiece here and there, but for the rest of his stories, whilst they may be satisfying in the moment, upon closer introspection, they fall apart the more you try to examine them. He is a king of moments and setting up mystery, but not so much of telling stories that could be outside of those boxes. RTD on the other hand is more the one who likes to indulge himself in spite of whatever he story might be, like he can come up with interesting concepts or even creating emotional moments but he is more of a formulaic Doctor Who writer, where he tells himself that whatever the story is, it must hit these beats and have these certain things, sometimes to the detriment of the story. And between the two of them, one of the things I dislike about them is they think, for example, almost every companion must be a mystery of some kind, the Doctor must always know everything, win every single time or have some big speech at the end. These things are a staple in their Doctor Who storytelling, which, if you know your Classic Who, not every story was written with such standardization. It was all very dynamic enough and the Doctor was mostly about fixing a problem first than looking like the smartest person in the room at all times in every single story. I don’t want to spoil anything for Angela by saying a lot about Chibnall’s work during his era, but I will say, he was just as much a fan of Classic Who and the rest of the show as much as the other two, I never questioned that with any of them, but I would say that does not completely speak to their quality of work during their times as show runners. And I will say, Chibnall for his part, firstly, knew how to deconstruct the character and the show itself and not just make it about the certain pitfalls I mentioned above and being able to actually go back to the core fundamentals of what and how the character and show were like and was about, back in the day, and secondly, to his merit, whenever he chose to recall back to anything either from his two predecessors or from Classic, be it characters, concepts or monsters, he actually did it well and did it best. That’s all I can really say without spoiling anything. Anything else we can discuss as it is later revealed to Angela, like I said, in my original comment. Is that to say he was perfect? No. All three had their faults and their strengths, I just prefer and appreciate the work of Chibnall more than the other two. That’s why art is subjective.

Carl Wilson

A woman made entirely of legs

Carl Wilson

omg, boys, boys, maybe save these arguments for when it's possible for Angela to have any opinion about them?

Josef Schiltz

I suspect that, if we are the same age, we would have differed about this in the school playground in the 60s when Hartnell and Troughton - in succession - were the Doctor. It's only natural that we, as individuals, will alight upon certain things and default to them. That being said, enjoyed seeing the library. At least the swimming pool wasn't actually in it. Love libraries.

JC Whittaker

That’s what I was saying @Carl Wilson

JC Whittaker

Well, they forget some of these details about Swimming Pools in the libraries sometimes because sometimes they are just lines in the story but if they wanted they could get away with it by just saying it’s a new console room and layout

JC Whittaker

I have no problem with healthy arguments or differing opinions. But some of these people these days will just straight up call you stupid or something worse for having a different point of view from their own, so I appreciate that we could speak here like this without debasing each other for our different views. Especially in this fandom. I’ve had to excuse myself from most social media platforms because most fans of this fandom would rather just insult you and be hateful, especially when expressing any interest in the latter years. It was truthfully quite taxing on my mental health during those years that for a short moment I contemplated stopping the show just because of the toxic fandom, but I just told myself to enjoy the show and I cut out everything else. So I guess what I’m trying to say is, thank you for being kind during this exchange.

Josef Schiltz

They do tend to get a bit passionate, and great passions can get in the way of data. The toxicity was one of the reasons that I started to withdraw from any discussion about the show. I have C-PTSD for starters and, like yourself, Terrence, all I wanted was something to relax with and that I have enjoyed for many years. I find all the antagonism very tiring and, like yourself, have to be careful. I actually like Chris Chibnall's writing, for example in the Silurian episodes. The dialogue between Matt and Karen - the "One day, you'll stop" scene was remarkable! I really enjoyed the entirety of Torchwood. It is difficult for these character scenes to be inserted into, what has become, a faster paced - get it all done - type of show, as opposed to the older serial based Doctor Who. What would have happened to a character like Tommy - "Clever Lupton!" in this new format. Goodness only knows.

daviderl666

I never knew this existed! Thanks! On to the next episode.

JC Whittaker

Yeah these days I just want to enjoy the content in peace. Really also enjoying the Big Finish stuff with 9 and 13 and 8 also, those are my three personal favorites. Still wish Paul could get his own three seasons. Pretty sure he could still do it too, even though he’s like in his 60s now, I think.

Josef Schiltz

Clara: "Where is it?" TARDIS: (smugly beeps) - "Where's what?"

Angelus Lupus

The look the two Clara's give each other when saying "we have to share a bed" gives the same vibe as the two Amy's "I'd give YOU as driving lesson!" from Time/Space!

Josef Schiltz

I'd guess that it all depends upon the condition of Paul's knees - about that time that Matt turned up on crutches. "This show, mate! This show!" Paul is 66. I have heard very little of Big Finish. A late friend gave me The Chimes Of Midnight to listen to. He passed away from an aneurysm the very weekend that Rings Of Akhaten was broadcast. Akhaten is always a reminder to me of that. He was only in his early forties. That sort of thing is always a reminder to value the time we have.

JC Whittaker

I am sorry about that. You should try to listen to more. They are very good. And the sound design and soundtracks are amazing

James Christie

We usually call this time of episode a “Minisode” 😂

Warren

I'm very Exited to get to the Chibnall era i want to hear her opinions on it, also a great excuse to rewatch the era with less judgemental eyes, i can usually find more things to like on a second watch through, also 13 is a blast of a doctor so very looking forward to that

JC Whittaker

Yeah. It’s got the best rewatch value out of all the eras. I have found that out over the last few years and I found myself missing it a lot during and very much after the recent era.

Zachary Vail (Zeebee)

I haven’t seen this before. Could Clara undo the Doctor’s existence??? It would have to be crazy for her to have the ability to affect the entire timeline of someone as old as the Doctor

Paul Bristow

I have a fannish theory about this one. The question we're all asking, at this point in the series: "There are so many of you, but they're all different. But they're also all the same. But different. How? Why?" The TARDIS is trying find an answer to this question, using the tools at her disposal... If there's a Clara in the TARDIS, then she can make multiple copies of that Clara from multiple points in her time spent within the TARDIS, and bring them together to watch how they interact with each other. But... It's kinda expensive to do that. It uses a lot of her energy just to do it once, so she has to give herself time to recover before she does it again... Most of an Earth-Human day/night cycle, in fact... But if she does this time-bending trick *once*, and observes the results, she can then decide - based on the results - whether it's worth doing it again to learn more. But... to save over-exerting herself, it would help if she could arrange to bring these two-or-more Claras together not just at the same *time*, but within the same few metres of space... Somewhere easy to monitor too, like... Ooh, perfect place, the console room!!! How to achieve that...? "Ah! I'll do something annoying, that is clearly *my* fault, and thus motivates her to head to my console room to complain." And when she does... well, around 24 hours later she can do the same trick again, and add a third Clara to the pre-established meeting of two Claras, and observe what happens next... And when that gives a slightly different result, one that doesn't really establish a useful pattern yet, well... that's not surprising, really, proper science is never *that* easy (her Thief taught her that, although he mostly seems to forget it himself!)... she just has to wait another 24 hours, internal-time, before adding in another Clara to the same "moment"/"scene"... [CUTS TO THE END] Result: None of the Claras have actually *died* yet, they've all just got extremely pissed off and/or formed interesting polycules with each other and/or waged war on competing severely underslept factions... The TARDIS gives up, deciding that the Multiple Claras *OUT THERE* are not just temporally-displaced copies of the Clara she's got here, and that something a bit more complex is going on. She therefore grudgingly re-instates Clara's bedroom... only to witness an *EXPLOSION* of territorial in-fighting over whose bedroom it actually rightly is! (To the TARDIS the correct answer is obvious, of course!) Eventually, she sifts through all of the logged data from this little experiment and draws a surprising conclusion... one completely unrelated to her original "research question": "I actually quite like you, Clara Oswald. You go, girl!" ... And *THAT'S* how real science happens. =:o} - - - - But of course, that's not the end of it: "I still haven't figured out what's going on with all these multiple other Claras, and that means that you're still an unknown quantity. An unknown quantity who's currently occupying far too much of my Thief's time and attention, which is making me... Ooh, what is that word? Such a surprisingly big, wobbly word, considering how small and solid its focus is... jelly! That's it! Clara Oswald, you are making me jelly! "Furthermore, you're an unknown quantity who's now virtually *living full time inside me*, and that makes you a potential risk not only to me, but also to my Thief (who keeps looking you up-and-down in a way I'm not used to from him and his strays, and that makes me... uncomfortable...). So until we all get to the bottom of all this... Expect further rigorous tests, human!"

Paul Bristow

[1960s TROUGHTON-ERA CYBERMAN VOICE:] "FUN" IS NECESSARY! YOU WILL HAVE "FUN", FOR US! d|:o|

Paul Bristow

Thankyou so much for expressing for sharing your "non standard" opinion! I lean towards being more of a Moffat fan than any of the other NuWho showrunners, but at heart, I'm really a "old school" fan, from the era where producers and scriptwriters changed at least as often as the Doctors did, and furthermore, none of them had *TIME* to impose a "single unifying single vision" upon this bucking-bronko/raging-tiger of a show that they'd just been *shoved* in charge of! =}:o] And yeah, your criticisms are fair. Not necessarily *RIGHT*, but definitely fair. =;o}

JC Whittaker

I can respect that. “Right” and “Wrong” when it comes to creative art is a matter of perspective and subjectivity, after all. But I get it when you say you prefer a time when it didn’t have a singular voice to dictate where it goes. Honestly, I’ve always thought, going forward, the show should have two or three co-show runners. That way, everything is more balanced and there’s enough voices behind the scenes and we can get a variety when it comes to the stories and themes covered. As well as the fact that two or three show runners would be able to cover each other’s blind spots well enough for us to be able to get strong stories and stronger arcs. I hope they can realize this soon enough.

John

The tardis is aware of all time and space, so it already knows what Clara is. There is no paradox for the tardis where Clara is concerned.

JC Whittaker

You are allowed to have your opinions. I stand by mine.

sam hind

I don’t think the 2 Clara’s that share the bed mind all that much! (Wink, wink!)

Lazzy

I'll be real, I think that some -- possibly even a lot -- of your bad interactions regarding your opinions has less to do with "I don't agree with this" and more to do with "who asked?" You have an opinion and that is both great and valid, but that doesn't mean that you have to bring it up. Reacting to somebody enjoying something with "I don't and here's why" is just going to be seen by most people as being a wet blanket, even if you add a "I'm glad you enjoy it though" even if you are being genuine. There's a time and a place to exchange opinions and discuss perspectives and that time and place is not "whenever and wherever."

JC Whittaker

You are making a lot of assumptions but okay. Thank you for your input.

Brian Bortner

I think it's even simpler than most are suggesting... @2:52 "Do your worst. I can't wait to see your next trick." The TARDIS took her literally, and is exhibiting dominance. If you think House had control over folding time and space within the TARDIS - that was nothing compared to what the TARDIS herself can manage with a little spite thrown in for motivation.

Brian Bortner

I think you typoed "type" as "time" but, given this is Doctor Who, it's understandable.

Over50Gamer

Never tell a living spaceship, WHILE YOU'RE INSIDE IT, to "do your worst!" 😂

Philip Kukulski

1) Thanks Angela for sharing this. 2) Clara said, "I am you from tomorrow night." The same (iteration of ) Clara.

Philip Kukulski

I am glad to see your point in the comments. I am more general. "Wow, Angela has too much confidence that writers are going to create a story that make sense."

Philip Kukulski

Bothers me some - more than two time periods bumping into each other, two time periods coexisting.
