I absolutely loved this movie and so excited to re-watch it with you

Rando

I've been looking forward to this reaction!

It makes me sick that its Paramount. Same with watching Trek, I despise when the Paramount logo pops up. It’s like giving my money to an evil corporation… Wait, that’s exactly what it is.

Rando

Idk if its any better, but it seems like you can buy the whole movie on youtube and Amazon now

James

Yes i agree paramount is a terrible company, so it pains me that two of my favorite franchises of all time are properties of paramount.

Patrick Waldeck

I have some minor problems with this film but man I really really love the animation and the characterization. Katara especially stood out for me. I just wish we got more of it!

James

Just finished it! Great reaction! I agree, i think its a perfect continuation to the original show while also being kind of a prequel to LOK. They did a great job with this movie. Really makes me more excited for the future of this world.

Sophie Linton

I HAVE BEEN WAITING for your reaction!!! yes!!! im crying with you right now. I sobbed at the intro! fun fact: every scene is hand drawn and painted!

I really enjoyed this movie. So much. First, the bad - I feel the story was bigger than the 100 minutes of this movie. It would have really benefited with more room to breath. And as a result of that, beloved characters get little to nothing to do, which is sad. Okay, enough of that. The good - Aang and the gang are back! Seeing them is amazing. The animation is incredible. The action - both the fighting and the feats of bending - are awesome. I did like the story, even in this abbreviated form. The voice work didn't bother me like I thought it would (except Zuko - not bringing Dante back was a mistake). Mostly though, this really just makes me want to see a series with this version of our wonderful crew because there is so much more to tell with them.

I feel a little bad i had to get a free week of paramount plus to watch this as i would have rather bought it and shown real support for something like this...oh well!

Nathaniel Castle

Well that was an absolute delight! I feel they should have done this as a 10 episode season but regardless i had a wonderful time!

Just finished watching the movie. Will rewatch it with Angela's reaction later. Based on the comments here, it looks like I may be a lot more down on this than others seem to be. The art and animation are great, but the rest of it didn't hit the mark for me. I think they absolutely fumbled Sokka. Didn't like what they did with him at all. And Team Avatar was incomplete. Where the hell was Suki? She should've been there, but it feels like they left her out because they would've had no idea what to do with her. I didn't really care for the story they chose to tell because it had no stakes since we know the state of the world when Korra starts and they didn't do anything interesting with the story beats. They just followed a paint by numbers formula. This story felt like it had no teeth. Aang was never going to succeed at making new airbenders. PLUS Legend of Korra already did the "evil airbender" thing much, much better. Maybe if they'd taken the bones of the story and told it over a full season it would've worked better for me. It would've allowed them more time to build things up and give the characters more time to interact and to actually act like themselves instead of weird caricatures that only kind of feel like the characters we know and love. This movie wasn't the worst thing ever, but I don't think it was very good either. Team Avatar deserved better.

I think somebody said that it’s supposed to be multiple movies so having Suki in the and montage I think means she’s going to be featured in the next movie. I’m fairly certain that they only established Sonam as a previous avatar in order to explain how we found more air bison. Personally, I loved it and I think it’s very good. I can definitely see what you’re saying, I wish they’d use Sokka and Zuko more. I definitely think having Toph be bored with earthbending shows the beginning of her decent. Sokka is still a goof but his engineering came through. The Fire Lord not doing much was odd. But again, I believe it’s just because the next movie may concentrate on him? Steven Yeun wouldn’t sign up for a bit part right?

James

Unfortunately, there are no movies in development at this moment. They were originally ordered for 3 feature-length films in 2021, but with how Paramount treated the first movie, it seems like they genuinely don’t care about it. And the fact that it leaked hurt it a lot too. It’s very unfortunate. So maybe we won’t get anymore movies, but if it does well on Paramount Plus, there’s still a chance to make more.

Is it just me, or Tagah's more complex arrows really look similar to Aang's arrows in the "one that doesn't exist" 2010's Avatar movie?

Loved your reaction to this! My only gripe with it though is that I wish we had gotten more Kataang moments. Though, I am happy with the ones we got, they were absolutely adorable.

Michael Hill

I loved it but wish Suki was involved and didn’t even mention her or what she was up to
