Okay. Jupiter Jazz. No one asked, but here's my personal story. I must have been in my mid-teens, probably Freshman year of high school, possibly Sophomore. Up until that point, anime had always been yelling, powering up, good vs. evil, and, with Bebop, rootin' tootin' point n' shootin' action. These episodes affected me so much that it was the first time that my perspective on anime shifted from "mindless, violent, fun cartoons" to "art". It was also my first real exposure to gender fluidity and dynamics, a concept that wouldn't be commonplace until more than a decade after I first watched this. It's no small leap to claim that watching Cowboy Bebop on Adult Swim at 1 AM in the summer of the early to mid aughts was the best decision I ever made with regard to improving my media literacy. It's perfect.

So glad you stayed for the end of this one… more to say later tonight ^_^

So, half of the show had been watched already....hope that the rest would be as awesome as the first half )

it's such a nice episode that comes full circle. It all makes sense when you see the start of Part 1 again.

This episode never fails to draw me in close enough to plant a firm kick in my gut. Here's to the second half. 🍻

At the time (and it may still work this way; I'm not sure) animes were usually only contracted for 13 episodes and would only be continued for their second half if the ratings were good enough. So, having no idea whether anyone would see the rest of the show, they wrote these episodes to have a kind of 'ending' feel, to at least leave a bittersweet taste to remember the show by (a bit better than a sudden Nothing after a filler episode like in that one scifi show I liked on Toonami around the same time u.u ) Luckily our timeline got the second half :D

This show and Evangelion blew and continue to blow my mind.

Man this two-parter is a true masterpiece of art. Not sure if this is the place to say but would be so good to see you react to Death Note next!

These episodes were written by the series' Story Supervisor, the late Keiko Nobumoto, a woman who really stood out in the male-dominated world of Anime. She was a frequent collaborator with the series director, Shinichiro Watanabe (her last credit was story work on his latest series, Lazarus,) and on her own was the creator of the series Wolf's Rain, which is another work I'd highly recommend to you.
