It turns out that Rebecca's halftime "speech" is a reference to a part-owner of the (men's) Norwich team Delia Smith: https://www.youtube.com/watch?app=desktop&v=NiC679ASOyA She had to respond to accusations that she was drunk, too. And I thought the same thing about that hug...how fitting the same week you saw 12 initiate that hug with Clara in episode 9x1 of Doctor Who!

This was a tough one. It's not that only everybody lost, it's like everybody 'actively set themselves up to lose.' The entire Lady Greyhounds project seems kinda like a mistake right now for me.

I think Matias was out of line when he snapped at Rebecca. She should have asked him about what his daughter said, not accused him based on it, but that wasn't what he was mad about. It feels like he was just using his daughter as an excuse to shut down the conversation and leave. Which only makes me more suspicious regarding who got a job in London first.

A couple of things I’ve been thinking about since watching it again: I think Matthijs might be reacting because he has been sheltering his daughter so much, but leaving her with Rebecca may have been the first time he ever left Jelka with someone not family or her mother…and he didn’t even think to consider that Rebecca would broach a topic he knew (but hadn’t said) was so taboo. I think that’s where his anger comes from in that moment, appropriate or not. Also, on the topic of Alice…something that was lost in the way Alice delivers her coaching is that she was right: Gemma needs to follow her shots. If she had followed that clank, maybe she could’ve gotten the rebound for a second chance, or at least been able to harrass the Chelsea goalie enough to stop that quick counterattack from happening. But with how rude and cold that Alice is, the message is forgotten. Maybe Gemma learning to follow her shot will be her “extra pass” moment. I do love that her inner turmoil, unlike the ringing that ted hears, is a rumble in her mind …I’ve felt that tumble, the vibration in my head as anger begins to overtake me. It’s an incredible choice for her that has the echoes of Ted’s panic attacks but are in fact different.

So... I was rewatching the first four episodes of season four this past weekend. I noticed a few easter eggs... 1. Ted was working at Fowch's Fine Foods. 2. His boss was Ronnie. 3. Ronnie was eating a butterfinger.

on one of the interview shows with several of the TL cast members someone admitted that they were extremely proud of what they did on episode 6... and the other cast members all agreed that the 6th episode was... well... something to watch out for. (...episode 6 may be THE banger this season... I can't wait for Angela to react to that one!)
