THIS was the very best episode of this season! (belongs being considered among the best of all four.) I knew this when all three coaches were sat at their desk in silent satisfaction.

The original Derek of Ted Lasso wasn't a complete monster - the first person on the show named Derek was the manager of A Taste of Athens, who I think we first see in S3 (we first see Jade in S2). He was definitely a little sketchy, but I wouldn't say he was an absolute piece of shit.

I never read Charlotte's Web. It's one of those cultural touchstones that somehow passed me by growing up. This was a great episode. I love how Alice has grown. Beard's midlife crisis is, I don't know, something., but the kid was right; with those contacts in his eyes do look reminiscent of a husky's. And now Roy has completed the "date other people" sidequest successfully we can hopefully move on with them and either have them get together or not. Zelda continues to walk the tightrope between beneficial and malignant... I just don't know about her. She was disappointed at Rebecca not being at her party, but with what the Higginses saw before they left makes me wonder if she was hoping to get Rebecca caught up in something. And that thought leads me to think back to the episode before that, and I wonder, did she know Rebecca was going to do a televised charity presentation at halftime when she showed up to get her drunk? As to the people who say we haven't got to know the team well enough yet, I think we don't know them less well, but it feels like we've spent less time with them; so much of S1 - 3 takes place in the locker room, and much less of this season does.

I don't know what it says about me, but I love when Angela recoils at something early in an episode (Alice learning to say yes), is immediately on board when it invariably works out, and never notices or comments on her sudden change of perspective. *shrug* With regard to the stage manager, something tells me the show wouldn't introduce a character that draws Ted's interest and continue to withhold her name unless they intended her to have some significance on the show. I predict she'll break up with her current person and give Ted a chance. The presence of awful Derek/Derricks on Ted Lasso is perfectly balanced by the terrific Derek/Derricks on "Shrinking," another Apple series that was co-created by Bill Lawrence, Brett Goldstein and Jason Segel.
