Hey everyone.

I just wanted to let everyone know that the schedule I had posted on New Years Day, of my returning home on the 4th and getting back to work, isn't happening. I am going to be spending at minimum two more weeks with my folks, possibly longer, as the circumstances dictate.

Less than an hour after I made the last Patreon post, my father fell down the stairs and broke his back, fracturing his L1 and L2 discs. He is home now and honestly mending exceptionally well. He's still using a walker to get around, but he is able to walk short distances with a cane--and even unassisted--before it gets too taxing on him.

As long-time followers are aware, I am unfortunately no stranger to having to delay my plans and spend expended periods of time helping my folks around the house as they mend. In the past, it was my father and I taking care of my mother, after her various strokes and later her heart surgery. Now, it is predominantly just me taking care of my father - my mother isn't really in a position to help, consequent of her own mobility and balance issues as well as her weak upper-body strength as a result of the aforementioned strokes.

As I said at the top, the current plan is to spend two weeks - until the 17th - here to help as needed. We'll see if he's feeling well enough to get around autonomously at that point, and revisit whether I need to stay longer or can safely head back home. And of course, as I am sure you all know by now, my capacity to work while with my folks is extremely limited - even moreso now, with my needing to be ready to drop things at a moment's notice to help for extended periods.

As far as projects go, I am still doing what work I can on them, which is currently mostly directorial work. I have reached out to Milly about restarting Pharmmetra, who has apparently herself had her own whirlwind of a holiday season, including family staying in ICU as well (her sister, to my father). She is excited to try again, though we are still in the process of working out a schedule.

Similarly, my sound designer's hard drive died on him over the holidays. Thankfully he kept most of his sound libraries on a different drive, but he did lose what progress he made on the Life is Strange series. Which thankfully isn't much, since both myself and his other friends forced him to stop working over the holidays and actually enjoy himself. But it is yet another complication.

So with any luck, while I am helping around the house as my father mends, Milly will be able to get her Mercy audio recorded and sent in, and my sound designer will be able to get the Life is Strange project sounding spectacular. I myself can't get a whole lot of work done right now, but I can at least get all the cogs in motion to get the work that is out of my control underway. It's all work that has to get done anyways, so there's no better time than now.

Unfortunately, since Overbreed isn't anywhere near ready for voicing yet, still being in the blocking phase, that means Overbreed is much more arrested than the other projects.

And then, as I've mentioned before, I have plenty of time to get writing done. So we'll see what other future projects I can cook up in the meantime.

That's all for now. Trust me when I say, I wish I had better news for ya'll. All things being equal, I'd rather be home right now with my father perfectly healthy and hopping and skipping around on his own. But that is not the reality we inhabit, and so we can only play the cards we're given.

I'll keep you all updated on how things are progressing, both at home, with the floating projects, and with the writing. Until next week, everyone.

A little over a year ago my dad got into an accident and broke his back so I COMPLETELY understand what you're going through. Take your time.

Family is more important. Take good care of your father and hope he recovers soon.
