I think we all forget sometimes when he hesitates with Raz, that he's HYPER aware he would out live anyone he loved again. Raz slipped thru his defenses and atp he's reliving the grief of Udaya all over again but twice as hard because he's actively avoided those feelings for who knows how long. When a story describes a person as completely and utterly broken beyond recognition and repair and shattered into a million pieces, existing as a shell of themself without someone, they could have NEVER provided such an accurate depiction as Sulvain when he believes Raziol is dead. Sulvain keeps very little living around him that he would love. And for him emotions may be harder to come by because of what he is and how he exists. His few loved ones are kept at a distance to a point because he's learned they could disappear faster than a blink. One moment they're there and the next they're nothing more than particles in the wind. Raziol potentially being the first to live thru the transformation and becoming something long lived like Sulvain is probably the one thing he would never have hoped to wish for because of the probability of it happening being so miniscule. But it has and he doesn't even know it. Poor baby. I hope Raz finds him and calls him back to the living world before he loses too much on his coerced mission.
