Sulvain's cloak is also enchanted with Essencia from Vivi! Perhaps that isn't the only thing Sulvain has that she gave him. Perhaps the Essencia of life will counter that blade's energy?

So not only is he lucky to have magic, he uses it in the worst way. He must have truely been isolated after he found out he had it, so of course, he turned out the way he did. Viverette may have needed to hide what she was, but she still had a support system to help her and was able to grow as a better person as she got older( I'm guessing, I haven't gone back to the story and have been stuck on chapter 35😅).
