Volume 1 Is Finished (Patreon)

I always anticipated that To Be A King wouldn't be beyond a handful of chapters. Boy was I mistaken. With the release of Chapter 7, To Be A King will have Volume 1 completed. Volume 2 will soon be in development (once again, in chapters). I'm not sure how big future volumes will be, but the size of Volume 1 feels right to me.

There are two big reasons I'm splitting this up into volumes. First, I know how To Be A King will end, but, at this stage, I have no clue when we will get there. These downloads are going to get way too massive very soon. Breaking the game up into volumes is going to help out a ton here. I wish Renpy had a better method than copying in updates to the game folder, but alas, it does not.

The second reason for the split is that I'll be launching Volume 1 of To Be A King on Steam (hopefully this fall). I'll have more to say on all of that once we get closer to a Steam launch. For now, I'll be working on getting things ready for a Steam release while I work on Volume 2 of To Be A King (Chapter 8 will be the first part of Volume 2).

To Be A King's story just keeps growing. At this rate, maybe George R.R. Martin will finish before me (though he had quite the head start). In the meantime, we will enjoy beautiful princesses, other lovely ladies, palace intrigue, and some fantastic journeys. Here's to the end of Volume 1 and the beginning of Volume 2. Now with 50% more Princess Valentina…wait! I was joking. Don't leave!

P.S. We entered beta just a bit ago. I'll have more details on when a release might be ready tomorrow.
