In Lustburg, a woman clad in light armor with a white halo above her golden hair advanced quietly in the church of Castitas.

Wherever she went, nuns and paladins gave her a look full of wariness but still bowed with respect. But whenever she walked past them, she could hear their murmurs full of doubts and derision.

“Is she still here?”

“I thought she would have left by now.”

“Is she acting as a spy?”

Spy, traitors, ungrateful, vile, etc. Whereas once she had been a source of respect, now she was only seen as a pariah despised by all.

Such were common for Chloe to hear but she could only show her bitter smile. When this started she could still feel angry or try to protect her honor but now she only felt weariness.

A traitor.

In reality, those words were unfair. After all, she had never sworn allegiance to Lustburg. She was the Holy Daughter of her own Kingdom. Her loyalty to the angels should be clear.

Yet she did not refute the terms of traitor even though she had yet to act.

I might really be a traitor. Chloe mused.

The current situation left her bewildered. Chloe believed in the duty of all angels. That is to safeguard the Order of the world. This was the absolute mission given to them, one that surpassed everything and to accomplish that goal, Angels were given power and technology far beyond anything that could exist in this world.

If so, then why do I still hesitate?

Chloe released another sigh.

The order to come back home had been sudden but not unexpected. Sol was proving to be a disturbing factor in the status quo of the world. The angels could not allow the birth of a second Khan. The first Demon King was already one too much.

Yet, Chloe still did not leave.

I need to talk to Sol. I also need to talk to the leaders.

This was a war that should not happen. She had seen what Sol was capable of and also witnessed all the powers he had built for himself in the Tower.

The chances of Lustburg losing the war against Slothein were near zero.

But

The chances of Lustburg winning against Slothein in the truest sense were also near zero.

Chloe’s eyes darkened as she bit her lips to the point of drawing blood. This whole situation was so frustrating.

She took a deep breath and released a final sigh. Right now she didn’t need to focus on that. Lustburg and Slothein still were at peace. None of them would start the war lightly.

She stopped when reaching a chapel. This was initially the place where Aurora would hide and pray when she was not officiating.

Recently though, the entire chapel had been redecorated and refurbished. This room was going to be used for something far more interesting than simply prying.

A small smile formed on her face.

In this sea of bad news and frustration, the fact that Sol was about to have his first wedding filled her heart with joy.

She had sadly not managed to be much of a friend to Sol. But she was truly happy to see him reach the next step with someone he loved.

Watching the human nuns move around hurriedly while under the orders of a witch clad in pink, a few beastmen and elves busy working on the roof or moving the pieces of equipment, and dwarves busy fighting about how they should add a patio Chloe laughed.

This was a sight that was only possible in Lustburg. Results born from years upon years of combat to adjust to a new society.

Sol’s predecessors worked hard to make this dream a reality and Sol worked as hard to bring the Witches into the mix.

It was a beautiful sight.

So much, so that Chloe found herself disagreeing with the orders of the upper echelon once again.

Sol may be an element that would bring much chaos to the natural order of the world.

Yet he was also someone with the potential to bring a new era of peace in those disturbed times.

If this was the case. Shouldn’t it be their duty to assist him rather than fight him? Weren’t they the ones bringing chaos and war into the world by trying to control him?

Chloe mused, her head hurting. She had never been the kind to think about all intricacies. Her time with Camelia helped her learn to think more critically, but there was a limit to this as well.

So made a simple decision.

I just have to talk to him.

She would say what she could and do what she could.

As for the more complicated matters? She would let them for Sol to deal with. He seemed to be quite used to dealing with such things anyway.

“May this peace last eternally.” Thus Chloe prayed and no sooner did she utter those words — the cry of a Phoenix resonated in all Lustburg capital as a giant gate opened far above above in the sky.

Feeling a sense of deja vue, Chloe lifted her head and watched the sky seemingly tear apart while golden flames escaped from the fissures and wings covered in lightning appeared one another.

Each wing seemed large enough to encompass half of the capital and a holy aura formed in the air.

Chloe watched in silence as the giant lightning phoenix finally escaped the portal in its entirety and let out a second cry.

The simple presence of the magical beast seemed magical. She could feel her body become lighter and filled with energy, even hidden wounds she did not notice started to heal.

The sky became dark, thunder roared and lightning flashed all around, creating a strange paradox where light and darkness seemed to cohabit.

Watching this display of power, Chloe remembered the bombastic entrance of Isis back when Sol came back with her from the Astral Realm.

She did not know which Phoenix this was this time but she had to say.

Those Phoenixes sure liked to show off.
