After Sol managed to convince the three Mortal Demigods, he found himself walking aimlessly in the corridor of the Tower.
For the first time in a long while, Sol found himself wondering what he should do.
Everyone was busy. Even the maids who would usually take their time to frolic with him were working on the wedding. As for his women they were either trying new robes or taking care of all the small problems that were coming.
And so he found himself, alone, wandering in his this large Tower and for once there was no one who was observing.
By the time he stopped himself, Sol found himself in a special hallway. One where the portraits of all the previous Kings and Queens of Lustburg were plastered.
From the first King, Jupiter to the Last one before Sol. Mars.
While they all shared similar Blonde hair and Blue eyes, there was enough small difference in their traits to avoid any confusion.
Glancing at Jupiter's portrait, Sol found himself thinking about Medea and her relationship with his ancestor.
One thousand years ago when both were nothing but young teen, Jupiter managed to seduce and control Medea.
It was hard to condemn his actions as purely negative. Lustburg did not exist properly in those times and humanity was enslaved by the elves.
From humans perspective, Jupiter's choices and actions brought a new era. One where all humans were born free and did not have to fear extermination.
His actions may have been distasteful but he also nearly succeeded in leading humanity to true hegemony over the entire mortal world.
Had he not made the mistake of letting his arrogance cloud his judgment, the world as Sol knew it would have been very different.
Even then. All Sol's current advantages and birthright were obtained thanks to Jupiter.
“As much as I hate you, I suppose I should give some thanks.”
A glass of wine materialized in his hand and he lifted it high.
“Thank you creating Lustburg and thank you for being stupid enough to lose a woman like Medea.”
He drank everything in one gulp and sent the glasses away.
Indeed he was thankful to him and now he was going to repair Jupiter greatest mistake.
His thoughts drifted once again to Medea. The Witch of Time.
Their relationship was not one filled with Hardship and misunderstanding. While Medea had been trying to keep him away from her romantically out of self depreciation, she rarely if ever truly rejected him.
It was a slow, simple and cosy romance. One born from love at first glance on his side then gradual growth nurtured by everyday life.
The day Medea accepted his his advance and shared her love with him was perhaps one of the most beautiful day in his life and soon he would show his love for her to the whole world.
Medea was not the only he loved nor would she be the only one he would marry.
But she was and would always be the first.
His first love.
His first confession.
Not his first time.
But definitely his first wife.
Shouldn't I have a bachelor party or something?
He idly wondered once again as he phased through the wall of the room and stepped on the outside.
The cool air rushed to him as he phased out, causing his hair to fly up. Sounds of all kind filled his ears and he bathed in the joyful atmosphere.
A bachelor party would need some friends to organize it for him. Sadly the only male friend he had was Are Highland, Athena's brother. But the two of them had quite the complicated relationship.
Flying up, Sol looked up at the round moon in the sky before mumbling to himself.
“I wish the day would come sooner.”
Raising his hand up, he briefly wondered if he could manipulate the time of the entire Mortal Realm and accelerate it.
Sadly, it was still beyond him. As such, all he could do was wait.
Wait for the day when he would finally be able to obtain the hand of his beloved.
Sleep eluded him and so all he could do was meditate and let time fly, peacefully, quietly.
“Go back. I do not care what you have to say. I am sure it can wait for after tomorrow.”
No sooner did Sol's voice cease that the air started shimmering.
Sol did not even spare a glance to the space distortion.
“Do not make me repeat myself. This will be your last warning. I do not care who or what you are. Reincarnated god or whimsical angel. Since you can manipulate Karma you should be able to anticipate what I will do if you insist.”
Sol's voice betrayed no emotions even as he gave this warning.
“Hehehe….” A small boyish laugh escaped from the ripples from beyond. “I guess it was gauche of me to seek you on the eve of your wedding. We do not have to meet and I am not so brazen, I would actually step foot in a place filled with so many dangerous people. I am quite the coward after all.”
The voice stopped for an instant. “10 minutes. Give me 10 mn.”
Sol frowned.
“You are the one who stopped me from finding the fox.”
“I am. You can call me Karma.”
“Hum…You have five minutes.”
Sol did not want to care. He felt like the closer the wedding was, the more distractions appeared.
This time, even if the goddesses themselves came he would not push back the date
“I can see that I am not quite welcome. Take this as a small sign of friendship.”
Something flew out of the space ripple and landed perfectly in Sol's hand. Sol did not have to look at it to understand what it was.
A map. More precisely— A map of the Astral Realm.
The map was very detailed. Not only showing the relative position of the 14 Divine Beasts Territories but also the territory of different Demigods hidden in the abyss.
He bad seen similar maps from the Witches who came back from exploring the Astral Realm.
But the map in his hand was o. A whole different level of details.
On the map, a small black dot was moving.
“This is her location.”
“You sold your comrade out?”
“Comrade? Hah.” A harsh laugh escaped. “Remember this. I care only for my survival. For that goal I will even bark like a dog and sell even my siblings. I am despicable man who knows nothing of honor and yet I feel no shame. That is who I am.”
The voice started to fade.
“I do not wish to make an enemy out of you. Nor do I wish to fight against my brother who dreams of grandeur. I will stay as nothing but a bystander.”
“What tell me this is not a trap?”
“Well…That for you to find out. Hahah!”
On those last words, the ripples in space completely vanished.
Sol did not even bother trying to find him.
He simply looked down at the map before throwing it in his dimension.
Nothing would distract him from his incoming wedding.
Absolutely nothing!
And so, he waited in the sky, eyes closed in meditation, until hint of sunlight started appearing in the sky.
Today was a new day.
The day of his wedding.
