The day following the events in Kuoh academy, even though none of the students knew why the school suddenly decided to close its door for about a week.
The reason for their confusion was the lack of memories of the events that happened. None of them could even begin to guess what went through the school.
Even though the school was closed, a young man with black green hair and a slightly average face was standing on the roof of the school.
Floating next to him was a magical circle;
“So yeah boss, even though everything went to shit. The mission can still be salvaged.”
Lars, an ultimate level devil under the order of one of the four Maou was busy talking to his actual leader–Leohart.
Lars furrowed his brow when he thought about everything that happened.
Like everyone, he wasn’t able to trace the source of the power. But unlike everyone else, he was present in the school when the barrier was put on.
Even though he had no proof, this was no way that the two events were interconnected.
Still, this wasn’t his problem. Even though his boss was a Maou, it wasn’t as if he had any obligation to care about the territory of Sona and Rias.
His mission was clear.
Kill Zolgear.
Hatred flashed in his eyes for a while before his expression went back to an easygoing one.
“Catching two big fish would have been good but it seems like that bastard young master bastard fled. Thankfully like I said, even though the young basted fled, the old bastard decided to stay.”
Lars could hear his master chuckle lightly. Clearly not offended by his choices of words. Leohart knew that this was more than a mission for Lars—It was a personal vendetta.
{Very well. Do as you wish. The seven sins councils lost much of their power since the advent of the new Maou faction. But they are still thorns on our side. Both Sirzech and Ajuka are too kind to attack them. But our group has no such hang-up.}
This wasn’t just a personal problem for Lars. The seven sins were a group of elders who were part of the old Maou faction but had turned coat at the last moment and joined the new Maou during the insurrection.
The other Maou might not really care about those insects, but be it, Lars, Leohart, or even Leohart's beloved sister, they had all suffered because of that council one way or another and would not rest until it was completely erased.
Of course, they were not blinded by revenge either. They couldn’t just attack those seven sins without sufficient reasons and those old bastards were careful enough to not reveal anything compromising.
But all of this was about to stop and the key to this was one woman…The SSS ranked stray devil—Kuroka.
—---
Speaking of Kuroka,
“Basara-sama, I believe we should dispose of her.”
She was facing a rather complicated situation.
…
…
…
Last night, when Kuroka stood in front of Basara’s house, wondering whether she should enter or not, she was startled to find that she had been found out by an ultimate ranked devil.
One that was quite well known at that.
Lucia Gremory.
Kuroka didn’t know, but Lucia had reinforced the security system of the house quite a bit and the moment Kuroha stepped into the surroundings, she had been already spotted by Lucia.
Lucia had already been on edge after feeling the pressure. Since her body and soul were linked to Basara, it hadn’t been difficult for her to realize who the cause of that situation was.
This realization made her worry even more. As such, when she went out and saw Kuroka, Lucia hadn’t been in the brightest mood.
The only reason she didn’t outright attack her was because for one Kuroha was still a powerful Ultimate class devil and she also had some information about the truth.
She knew that the situation surrounding what happened back then was extremely shady and while Kuroha may be a criminal guilty of killing her master, the events that led to this sad reality were not something she should have wished for.
Furthermore, even though he had tried to hide it, there was no doubt that Basara was very interested in Kuroha and in a certain way in Koneko.
Later on, Basara came with a fainted Asia in his hand and directly went to sleep for an entire day before finally waking up.
Thus why they were here.
To discuss what they should do with Kuroha.
Sitting on the sofa, Basara released a sigh, because of that bastard Ornis, the situation became so convoluted he was lost about what to do.
He didn’t want to think. Just wanted to rest.
But the problem was that he couldn’t.
Once school re-opened, he would meet Koneko. If she ended up sniffing her sister's scent on him again, all the progress he had made would vanish like smoke.
He wasn’t enamored with Koneko. It was just that she keep reminding him of Kurumi. A girl he had been very close to in the Vatican. He saw her as a sort if sister figure and really wished to take care of her.
Furthermore, he wanted her to be happy.
Sighing, Basara opened his eyes and looked down at Kuroha who was sitting on a couch with her knee gathered under her.
Even though Kuroka's clothes were quite enticing, Basara’s showed no lust but only a cold edge, causing Kuroka to have cold sweat on her back when she felt the pressure Basara was involuntary releasing.
‘I guess a Dragon is really a dragon.’
Because of how Basara had saved her and his reaction on the morning when she left, she had the image that Basara was a righteous, kind, and shy young man that was easy to manipulate.
This was mainly why she had tried to enter in contact with him.
Kuroha wasn’t stupid. Nor was she a beast. Just because she had the urge to mate with him didn’t mean she would really sleep with an unknown man or fall in love with him for no reason.
There were only three things filling Kuroha's heart, the feeling of revenge, the feeling of duty toward repopulating her kind, and the feeling of love she had for her sister.
She initially used Basara as a simple way to protect herself but also of course observe him as a mating prospect. Even if he had a bad personality, she only needed a mate. Not a lover.
Of course, now she knew that she was mistaken. Basara may be kind and righteous, but he was no easy prey for her to use and manipulate.
Once Basara was sure that Kuroka was a little cowed, he finally spoke,
“I won’t beat around the chase. I have heard Koneko or rather, Shirone version of what happened. I believe, and Lucia is with me on it, that there are many things suspicious about what happened. Now then, would you tell me the truth of what happened?”
Kuroka was surprised that Basara was so blunt,
“...What if I refuse to say anything?”
Basara shrugged and indicated toward the door, “Nothing stops you from leaving then.”
“Heh…Hahaha§ Very well. Let me tell you the truth then. I have nothing to lose anyway after all.”
Kuroka grinned.
“I did kill my master out of my own volution. This is the truth.”
But,
“I was not crazy or drunk with power. I killed him because I had to.”
