News article got me curious today, it's common term, but, cuffing season ...

UD defines as:

The cold season when everyone’s coupling up, so you settle for a new bf/gf way below your standards. ~Or~ you’re one of the smart ones who cozies up w Coors Light and your pupper bff.

Bobby: Yo, it’s cuffing season, you wanna lock this down?Charlotte: Ugh no. I’m gonna Chill at home with a Coors Light and Murphy.

Okay , so Coors Light really tried to hijack Urban Dictionary for clout and to convince people to drink their beers, which is kinda embarrassing but...

Does it (cuffing season) really exist?

Can it foster a happily ever after?

Are you actively searching for body pillows?

Do you hunker down and just hibernate for 6 months?

Eh, cuffing season comes and by June the couples are broken up with, pregnant, engaged, or still going strong. It exists for those that practice and show it off on social media. I've never participated but I see it happen in my town all the time

Seems like a weird new trend for old habits. Colder weather aka Winter coupling has always been a thing only made more forefront by current events. I believe ‘cuffing seasons’ to be any time of year and due to personal experiences aka post breakup/rebounding/I-guess-I’ll-just-end-up-an-old-spinster-with-12+-cats kind of a thing. Guess you could say I’ve experienced a few of these myself ... 😳

I never really thought about having any sudden urge to be "cuddled" just because the weather is changing and the holidays are coming. Doesn't seem smart in the long run to fill a void with someone unless it's mutual that we just want to hang out and shit isn't serious. If anything a lot of people are going through seasonal depression and need a distraction. This is where your patreon comes in for me 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰

This seems like a very inauthentic way to ask for what you want...if you want a relationship decide if you want to wait for someone "compatible"...or settle for who is available. Just be honest with yourself and any partner.

KaeKae

No one wants me during the rest of the year, do not come to me because you're lonely and cold lol

I agree there is a certain group of people that practice cuffing during this time however I have never seen it end well

I personally don't think cuffing season works. Not in the long run. I see couples get together in Fall/Winter and by Summer they are no longer together. I don't drink alcohol so I just remain to myself. The right one will come in time.

I think it's a thing, for sure. Whether done intentionally or not may be another question. Settling? Never. Choosing to see romantic partners will never be as amazingly scripted as they are on TV? Yeah, maybe. This year, I'm cuffing to Best Kept Secret. It may be settling, but it's also perfectly scripted.

LadyAnime

Not noticed this behavior in myself when I was single….but it’s been a while

Leandra

I thought "Cuffing Season" was Valentine's day😂😂😂

Best Kept Secret

Yeah I feel like it is press spin or creating a new word for old behaviours!

Best Kept Secret

Same, I constantly see people doing it, probably unconsciously but never seen it end well either like you say

Mary

🤔 I just buy myself men's oversized hoodies, some good wine, and watch all the dumb Hallmark movies with none of the drama. No need to settle lol.

I'm too old for "cuffing season". Either you want a real relationship or not.

Cat

Just here to have a good time regardless of the season! Being ready for commitment will occur when I'm actually ready vs feeling pressured to

Sweet Ree Leese

The only "cuffing season" permissible involves restraints not constraints 😉
