Okay, let's talk about TLS 1.0.0: the work I've been doing and will need to complete before I officially call the game done and do the big launch on Steam. I've seen some misunderstandings spreading about exactly what that will entail, so I wanted to give some more information.

I have a huge list of things I intend to work on, some very small and a few larger. They include but are not limited to:

1) Modifying the Chapter 2 section so that recruiting Altina is required. This is the one everyone knows, and I think it's a necessary tweak, because too many people miss her.

2) Adding investments that "rubber band" ProN returns a little: these will not appear for optimized saves, but will reduce how far behind unoptimized players fall. I will make a whole post about this later.

3) Some tweaks, like making the Yarra X Orcs scene easier to skip. Yes, I'm caving to pressure, but I'm tired of people shrieking about NTR.

4) In theory, I would like to have another DLC option available on Steam before the launch. Unfortunately, I still haven't come up with any ideas that I think work well: I would like to give players something to distinguish it from the donation option, but it needs to be something that wouldn't consume a lot of my or Annikath's time.

5) On that note, I would like to make some key art tweaks to prepare the game to make the best possible impression. Maybe finish all of the Chapter 4 scenes as well, though that would take a couple rounds.

6) Misc stuff I won't list out here. If anyone has complaints or suggestions for polish, this is the period I'll be trying to do everything.

Beyond that, there's a major question of picking a good window for the launch. This is the last time that I can control any meaningful attention from Steam, so I need to pick a good one: not during a holiday or Steam sale, obviously, but ideally I'd like to avoid a period of time with lots of other RPG releases. This is an open-ended one because the exact timing remains unclear.

I think I've completely finished updating the page itself. New art, new trailers, updated text... I don't think there's anything else I can do there.

Though on that note, everyone remember how TLS fell below Overwhelmingly Positive, then there was a huge burst of reviews from fans that got it back there? I remain grateful for that, but unfortunately...

The game probably can't recover its percentage after two negative reviews in succession. =/ Even bigger shame is that one of those players might enjoy the game but didn't make it through the prologue. While it would be nice if TLS could hit launch with the highest rating, to get more attention, I think it doesn't have a chance of maintaining that post-launch, so maybe it doesn't make that much difference.

Anyway, I hope this has added clarity. I'll wait to do the official launch until I'm ready, but I feel like that should really be in 2025. The only likely reason for delay would be if a combination of extra polishing and bad release windows means there's no good time, as I don't want to throw away this chance to reach new players. But from the perspective of patrons, you should see basically all the concluding details this year.

Anyone inclined to whine about NTR doesn't deserve to date a succubus.

guillaume nguyen

Welp, probably expect another flood of good reviews to rebalance the percentage. Altina *still* get forgotten ? Poor her...... Will you do a revamp of Hilstara introduction, or will it be after the 1.0 release ?

Captain Hair

I demand a review cape for Simon! (Helldivers reference for the confused.)

Revy77710

I would like to help out regarding Steam... but sadly, I can't even view the page (greetings from germany). T_T Suggestions for polish... the only thing I have in mind right now is, giving more scenery objects some dialogue. It's always a treat when chars say something because a bucket contains some questionable liquid, or when I can take weapons from a wall. But more often than not, nothing happens when interacting with things. Not every single things needs dialogue, cause the wordcount would go through the roof. But at least a few more objects, to make the party feel more lively.

ls2

I'm certainly rooting for you during the final polish phase. Feels a bit sad that people pressure you on the not-really-NTR thing. Regarding your 6th point there is one small thing in Chapter 1, during the first Stineford visit, that has always bugged me slightly and I think the solution is pretty simple. In a blind playthrough, the game railroads you very slightly, in a way that doesn't really make narrative sense, into missing out on Robin for too long. What I mean is, when you talk to Megail in her room she asks you: "Are you ready to discuss business?" and you can say "No" and back out. To someone like me, this felt like a warning sign that the story would irrevocably progress and of course you would then want to do all the other things first. I don't quite remember if at this point the player even knows of Robins existence in the first place, but Simon is absolutely planning on visiting her at the first opportunity. It doesn't make much sense to me that you would meet Hilstara and clear out most of the mine and the slaver hideout, while resting 4+ times in your room, before he tries to visit her. That scene is only triggered when you rest in the bed, after talking to Megail. I'd propose to either remove Megail asking if you want to discuss business or have Simon say, when trying to rest on the bed, that you should talk to Megail first. There is no interesting decision here, only the slightly frustrating possibility of Robin loosing out on a decent chunk of xp. No complaints from me, if this was intended, though.

Abso Haram

Wild that people consider a succubus fucking orcs NTR.

sierralee

I don't know what you mean about Hilstara's introduction.

sierralee

Yeah, TLS has lots of German fans, so if the situation changed there, that would probably give the game a major boost! More object interactions is a perfectly reasonable request, it's just spread over a very large game. If anyone ever has specific objects/maps that stood out to them, I can review those.

sierralee

This is one of the things that is vaguely on my list to look into, but it's from so many years ago that I don't remember it clearly.

Revy77710

Maybe unique things that stand out, for a start. I'm not good with names or locations, but a sidequest at the end of Chapter 2 requires you to free a location from enemies, close a slime den and bury an NPC. As far as I remember, neither the closed slime den nor the location of the burried person has any dialogue when interacting with them. Same goes for the tower in the middle, after defeating the boss. Everything, except the tent, became suddenly non-interactable. Or hey, since the enemy encounters are set in stone, maybe some encounters can have a bit of dialogue afterwards. For example, I have the same location in mind, and some slimes... stay true to their names. I'm sure a bit of funny dialogue afterwards would spruce the game up a bit.

AchtungNight

I’m not an NTR whiner, so I’ll be grabbing the Yarra & Orcs- and the other scenes with Qum, Hilstarra, Nalili, Trin, Yarra, and Iris that don’t involve Simon every time I play. The guy clearly has no issues with open relationships, he has thirty-some regular partners plus hookups throughout the game. People need to fricking lighten up!

guillaume nguyen

About how she didn't react much to the reveal that Qum and Yarra were succubi, or visiting the Succubus Tower.

Argo The Ratfolk

In my personal opinion, if someone is whining about Yarra somehow getting "NTRed" with an orc, that's clearly just a sign that they lack the reading comprehension to understand her character and or Succubi culture as a whole in your game. (Though by that same token I doubt there's nearly as many complaints when it comes to Yarra or the others getting with generic succubi, because of the usual stigma of it being just hot when it's with another woman but contraversal when it involves another male.. 🙄) I mean heck by that logic, once the harem members join the harem, they must not be allowed to have any scenario that doesn't directly include Simon and the other members only... In short, that way of thinking is just wrong and a slippery slope. In my opinion you really should not waste any effort or time trying to appease those vocal few -as you may never truly satisfy them anyway no matter how much content you cut /allow to be skipped (which doesn't change the fact that it still happens anyways right?! So they aren't really achieving anything by skipping through it all. Just missing out on your writing and more of Annikath's amazing art! :p) or any other consessions. I wish I could leave another review or something to help you out on Steam!

Argo The Ratfolk

Indeed besides I mean heck even before the harem, Simon and Wendis would somewhat regularly hook up with third (or possibly more~) parties for a bit of casual fun. He's never had a problem with it and the succubi are more than willing too for that matter, so there really should be no issue.

Michael F.

I wish I could help the rating out with a stram review, but unfortunately the ban of the game in Germany gives me no chance to do so :( Do you have any plans regarding sale in Germany? I know Steam is out, but any other platforms?

sierralee

Ah, I remember this coming up now. It could plausible be modified before the release, yes.

sierralee

The game should be available to anyone via the blog or itch.io! Unfortunately, Steam is the largest platform by far, so I don't know how much good each additional platform does.

Revy77710

The one I found was itch.io. It's either downloading the game for free or choose your own price. And the only payment option seems to be Paypal. https://sierralee.itch.io/tls Kinda sucks for us in germany, and the only chance Sierra has to release it, is in a very crippled state, with the option to patch the game somewhere else. It worked with 'Black Souls'... but since 'TLS' is a story that builds on sex, selling it for germany would mean rewriting nearly everything.

Rachnera

> I would like to give players something to distinguish it from the donation option > but it needs to be something that wouldn't consume a lot of my or Annikath's time. Stated like that, sounds a bit like you want to have your cake and eat it too. Unless you're planning on implying a third party, like commissioning an old-school game manual from a specialist?

sierralee

Yeah, there may be no solution that meets those criteria, but two things: 1) Key phrase is "a lot". Commissioning Annikath to draw an alternate outfit wouldn't slow her down too much, but alternate outfits for the entire harem would be unreasonable. Some kind of bonus content that would take a few days of dev time for me is doable, but elaborate additions that would require months are hard to justify. 2) Commissioning a third party would be a very viable path, I just don't know what people would actually want. If people would actually go for an old school manual, I'd be happy to pursue that. Anything that involves the harem would probably be desired by some, but if it didn't include everyone, it would trigger "Why not the others?" reactions. One option I considered was alternative Simon outfits, since that's a clearer scope, but I don't know if it would be desired enough by players that they'd go "Sure, that's worth a DLC."

Revy77710

It might be a bit more work than an old school manual, but how about a digital strategy guide? I mean something... 100+ pages, if it's feasable. I know there is a wiki and such, but the general walkthrough is too basic, and the guides with all the numbers and details aim to follow a specific path. So some sort of digital book with every single choice, showing what every single number does. Not a guide that recommends you a path, but a guide that shows you all the hidden values, changes and requirements. And to make it even more authentic, fill it with comics in the style of the 'TLS Art Pack II'. Make it nice to skim through. Details about every single enemy you encounter. Details about every single piece of equipment. Details about the 100+ days you spend somewhere, about the war, and so on and so forth. Since I'm only 3 hours into Chapter 3, I can't name much more specific things. But yeah, something like that, and dependend on the work and research that has to be done for it, it's a 10,-€ - 20,-€ DLC

sierralee

Such suggestions are welcome! A strategy guide would be a moderate amount of work, within the realm of feasibility, I think. However, my concern would be the same one you anticipate: I would feel like I was competing with all the community's guides. Players have put thousands of hours into those resources, and a static guide couldn't compete with some of them like the calculator. What I'd definitely consider would be a guide that focuses on "inside information" that isn't otherwise available, like character stat growths and ability equations. It could include enemies, though there are 1000+ of those. That would serve more as a complement to everything else, though I don't know, would that interest people? I should mention that I spent a while looking at Kickstarter rewards for RPGs to see if I'd get any ideas, but so many of them were physical that it felt like a dead end. I unfortunately didn't see where people are getting all these manuals and guides made! I don't know that I have the capabilities to make it look nice on my own.

Revy77710

Inside information... why not that? Behind the scenes about creating the game. Since the chars are so amazing, I would love a bit more detailed information, inside and outside of the game. Inside: Motivations, likes, dislikes, relation to other chars Outside: words from you, what was the inspiration for a char, what were you aiming for when creating a specific char And not just inside informations about the chars. Include a world map, describe each reagion with the people living there. Cause you know my biggest problem? Names... locations... and fantasy names with fantasy locations. At the voting in chapter 2, I was just so lost when it comes to who lives where, that one char comes from a peninsula and doesn't need to fear retaliation and so on and so forth. So this inside information should include a map, together with the names of each location and the name of the folk for each location. It makes comprehending the world easier. And again, more background information. Your inspiration when it comes to the world and your thought process behind each race. There are so many details and tittbits (heh) you can tell. And the idea with the comic stands. When telling about the relation between 2 chars, place a small comic with a 3-4 pannel small but funny interaction between these chars. Not for every pairing and not high level art... just something fun sprincled in. Not gonna lie, after getting lost in this world, I would absolutely love to know more about these chars and the whole thought process of you.

Trisk

For the DLC, maybe alternative outfit art for just the succubi, based on some sexual bodygear slot items? Like lingerie for Yarra, a chainmail bikini for Nalili, etc.

sierralee

Though I worried about partial outfit DLC, I agree that a themed set like for the succubi could potentially make a lot of sense!

AchtungNight

Still looking for a succubi version of the red headed hero guy. He’s got orc and halfling versions, why not the other races too?

Belly97

For the DLC, maybe an artbook showing the progression of art in the game, and a downloadable pack with full-res versions of all the art and any unused/alternate versions. You could also provide a basic guidebook, maybe even bundle it with the artbook/art pack, but with the wiki being as good as it is and as pretty much necessary as it is, maybe this would be too much work and not worth the effort but if it was done well and fleshed out fully it would be hugely apreciated and well worth paying for. Having a good enough guide that you don't need to go to the wiki might also help stop so many people from complaining.

Ark Tolei

It's really unfortunate how much your hands are tied by people's insecurities. I know you've had similar problems with other projects and it just sounds exhausting to deal with. If you're going over old content I would maybe suggest going over all the stuff with patty and do a tone check to see how you feel about it today. I don't have any notes in particular other than I found the character baffling at the time and post-release would be a bad time to find out you wrote something as an offhand joke for a bit character years ago that sounds very different in today's climate. This isn't me attempting to vaguepost. I just don't recall the patty stuff very well aside from getting a weird vibe from it. If it still looks fine to you I doubt there's anything you need to change. I just think it's a good idea to check.

sierralee

Haha, if you caught up with him in the postgame, that's as close as the game gets right now.

sierralee

An artbook is 100% planned! I plan to introduce that at the end, however, after the art is done.

AchtungNight

Ok, I am not quite at the postgame yet. Had to start a new playthrough from the beginning and I’m currently working through the prison- I’ll get there. :)

Belly97

Well, maybe in the meantime, just a full-res pack of all the art that has been completed to date? Any thoughts on the fleshed-out or simplified rough guide for players who don't want to wiki dive?

sierralee

It's not a succubus variant of that guy, but hopefully it will make you smile. ^-^

sierralee

I would at least consider separating out the art pack, sure. Regarding the guide, there's discussion of similar ideas in the Rachnera comment thread! I am open to the idea but there are some complications when it comes to deciding what it should cover.

Revy77710

Hope you don't mind if I chime in again. I would say, scrap the (or my) idea about a walkthrough. While yes, it would be nice to have some digital equivalent of a 'Final Fantasy Guidebook', there is still the thing about the wiki and other existing guides. As I typed in that threat, a 'Behind The Scenes' with extended character lore and world lore would be (in my eyes) a much better idea. Because of one simple reason: It's information only you can provide. For all the technicalities in-game, as you said, there are guides and calculators and whatever people came up with, and it's already potent enough to make a guide DLC redundant. But nobody is in your head other than you, and you are the only person who can give fans 2 informations: Extensive lore about chars and the world (cause everything else would be fanfic). Your thought process while creating every char, every location, every situation, together with inspirations. There won't be a single guide which could cover this.

Abso Haram

Ya know, there's a light novel title in there. Succubus Reset! Accused of Cheating on the Demon Lord with an Orc, I was Depowered and Banished to the Lv. 1 Hero Starting Town Where I Spend my Days Corrupting Newbie Adventurers to Work My Way Back Up the Ranks Again!

JD

The thing about the player who might have enjoyed the game but didn't make it through the prologue reminded me that the first time I played TLS I got THIS close to quitting when a second chosen showed up in my party, but I figured we'll probably get rid of him soon, so I continued.

sierralee

I absolutely want to do this sort of thing (if you go back enough on Patreon you will find comments about me doing a "developer's commentary") but I want to put a lot of time into this and do it right. So this will be an eventual final DLC, but ideally I'd like to have one in between for the 1.0.0 launch.

Revy77710

There are many ways to put alot of time into this, just like polishing the game, polish the digital gamedesign book. Again, a few comments sprincled in, make it colorful and fun to look at. Create some small 1-2 pagers with a pairing in a random situation, highlighting in a small story (like the text in the sex scenes) how 2 or 3 specific chars interact with each other, when Simon isn't there... like in the routes. A whole section dedicated to development thoughts, hardships, what was easy to implement, what was scrapped because it wasn't feasible. Maybe add a little backstory for some chars which wasn't mentioned or just skimmed over in the game. Without spoiling it for others, when char is like: "I need to tell you more about me... back in the day...". Elaborate more on it, paint a picture (figuratively). You are a great storyteller, use this for the DLC. Create an expansion to the game with developer commentary. A DLC should be an expansion to the game, but instead of expanding the game, you are expanding the world in some sort of 'Guide Form'. EDIT: And not just commentary from you. Let everyone who worked at this game write a few words. Dedicate a few pages for a nice few words from the players, like a short 2-3 sentence feedback. Fill it with more user artwork.

Revy77710

I know that I rolled my eyes at the beginning and was hoping that all the praise for the game was justified, cause I absolutely can't stand harems, because of guys like this. I couldn't even play much of 'Evenicle', because the main char... I can't even begin to describe the physical pain I felt while playing. I'm happy that a protagonist was found who made this genre much more enjoyable. But sadly, even if I love the subversion at the start, it can lead to a false impression. Well, I mean... this is what Sierra was going for after all, since this is, as far as I noticed, the only moment where stat-changes were shown (which don't do anything, as far as I'm aware... just one more thing where the game shows what it won't do). Same goes for the artwork in the prologue.

Nathan Phoenix

I kinda get the ntr thing but complaining that your succubus girl gets busy with someone else is like complaining that your stripper girlfriend flashes people.

Edward Culham

By the way, something that was thinking about as I have redoing some sections of the game again, would we ever get to see the next leader of New Givini? I was wanting to get Lunnell (Think that is her name) as the next leader by marrying Farren cause I figured with the Political and economics that they would bring in would be better than most of the other candidates.

sierralee

I didn't particularly intend to follow up on that, as the king is still alive. I resolve a lot of things in the postgame, but I wanted at least some to be left to the future and the player's imagination.

guillaume nguyen

Talking about that, did he ever had a conversation with Ralke ? Don't think he had.

guillaume nguyen

To add to the NTR debate, I heavily reject NTR with disgust and hate. I treat it the same as guro, a forbidden knowledge I would have been happier without (don't search that term, for your own good) However, I never felt such emotion in any of the scenes in TLS. Maybe because it was always consented ? Or because I'm mature enough to understad succubi culture *Angry anti-NTR fanatics noises* At its roots, I think the difference between them and me is that I have a clear definition of what I hate in NTR : a forceful reconstruction of the personality of the victim to make it dependant of its aggressor by the heavy use of lust/drugs, destroying in the process the victim previous relationships based on love and trust. It's that reconstruction, dependance and destruction that I hate, not the actual act of s*x with others in itself. In the end, the harem are responsible adult women who make their own choices and grow up from these new interactions. Which is the absolute reverse of my previous demonstration. Thankfully, most of your fanbase have enough insight to have nuanced opinions ^^

Innocuous

Some DLC ideas. No idea how feasible these are, or if there would be a market for them, but figure more ideas couldn't hurt. - An updated/modernized version of the April Fool's Prologue joke. I think it could do well if people go in knowing it's a parody. I'm also imagining it jumping around to different moments in the base game to make jokes about. Would probably be a bit of work from Sierra, but probably wouldn't need its own art, and it could be as long or as short as you're willing to make it. - Developer commentary. I know this has been mentioned before, not sure of the form you'd imagine this being. I thought of this as a bunch of Sierra Lee sprites appearing throughout the game to give commentary on different aspects. It would be something people could use even the first time playing if they wanted. - A 'cheats' menu or 'sandbox mode' or whatever would be the best phrasing of this. It would probably have similar functionality to using a save editor, but something more convenient built right into the game. I'm imagining ability to give yourself more Sx/Pron, maxing affection, setting country scores/other variables, the ability to instantly win fights, and so on. I think this might be helpful for anyone complaining about difficulty, but I think the real market would be people that have already played that want to see some alternative content without committing to an entire new playthrough. - Simon, but with red hair. Don't know how deep you'd want to go with something like this. Is it just updating in game sprites, or would every piece of art with Simon's head included also get updated? The idea does make me laugh. - Female Simon. Kind of the same issue as above, actually doing this would probably involve changing too many things, but I'm sure there would be interest in something like this.

Revy77710

And now that my dumb brain understood english again, I realize that you want another DLC, next to the one I've mentioned. I've fired my load completely with my idea, but... how about another boss? Yeah, the idea is a bit stollen, the german RPG Maker game 'Vampires Dawn 3' did this as a pre-order bonus and 'Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night' did this. You create a room or location (dependend on how much time you wanna sink into this) and the boss... is you. You, as the ultimate nearly overpowered challenge and a self-insert into the game (with a self designed avatar), and for beating you, the player gets a unique in-game reward and a special thanks. Another idea would be concept art, but truth been told, it would fit better into the Behind the Scenes book. Idea 3: alternate art for the sex scenes... it replaces every art in the game with drawings like in the prologue. Would be a bit dumb fun and worth a giggle. The thing is again, how much effort to put into it, since there is alot of art. Idea 4: a broom for your inventory, and basically nearly every NPC gets a line based on this. Again, alot of effort with so many NPCs, but would be funny. Could also limit this to a few key NPCs and scenes in general... like placing this thing somewhere at the camps and rooms. Idea 5: a 'To Be' mode. Basically, every time Simon says 'We shouldn't..." when you try to leave or enter something that shouldn't be entered, create a fake 'Game Over' with some stupid text. Would be a dumb reference, but I'm really scraping the bottom of the barrel right now with my ideas. ( ̄▽ ̄)" So yeah, sorry, cause most of them are for a few laughs and I made them up in 15 minutes by brainstorming, but for such a game, and without interfering with the other DLC idea, something in-game would be a good option. And without adding cheat items or bonus items/equipment or whatever.

Filip

I don't get why so many people here complain about people not liking NTR... The story and characters are so good that people who don't like "cheating" doesn't get offended, they just don't like seing people they are attached to with others? How is that a problem to just have like it is now with a easy "Skip!" and its over?

Filip

You are way to judgemental, I am at the side of hating NTR and atleast for me it goes both for female and male ecnounters with Yarra. I see that you don't feel anything with NTR so let me explain how it feels: During this game, me and many others have grown very fond of the characters and can feel Simons love for them, seeing them get intimate with others (even in the harem, but that one is OK for me) is like seing your Mother, sister, friend, wife getting stabbed emotionally. I get that you don't see the issue with it, but why be so humiliating towards people who may even be deeply scared by that from real life and escape into Sierras beutifully built world for some peace of mind? We dont have a "lack of reading comprehension" because of that. We can both enjoy the game in our own way so what's the whining about?

Argo The Ratfolk

Perhaps I made a poor choice of words at the time, I apologize if that offended you. My rant at the time was more caused by it reminding me of similar actions that other devs of a different game were /are doing due to pressure from fans causing them to make drastic /just bad decisions about their game direction. The rant was sort of a knee jerk reaction out of spite that SL would be caving into a similar sort of pressure and ultimately ruining the game in the end like those other devs are. Not that she has a track record of doing that or something, but again it was a spur of the moment ramble. Also for the record, I have a LOT of personal reasons to despise NTR both speaking from my own experiences and that of my direct family but that's a whole other rant I don't want to share and isn't too relevant here. But my point was simply I never considered Yarra or the others messing around with orcs or something to be NTR in the first place -not that I felt nothing for it in general. So please don't assume such things. Even still, I should not have lashed out as much at other fans who may have had a somewhat different perspective. And for that I do apologize.

sierralee

Hi there, sorry if this thread has been negative for you. I just intended to report one of the changes I'd be making, but my language may have led to many people latching on to that element. Speaking for myself, I've found there are several different groups that complain about NTR. There are some who are diehard romantics or want a particular type of wholesomeness, and I can understand that. However, I feel that some who complain actually have a very toxic attitude of ownership, for example those who refer to the characters as "used goods" for having had any relationships other than Simon. I'll assume your sincerity, and don't intend to accuse you specifically of anything. But sometimes the anti-NTR position comes off less as not wanting cheating and more as demanding unhealthy restrictions on partners, treating the characters as sex objects rather than as the characters that other players have become attached to. Don't know that we'll be resolving anything major in the comments here, but hopefully we'll end up with greater understanding overall.

sierralee

I never imagined the April Fool's joke as DLC! I wonder if people would like something that silly, but it's an intriguing idea. In terms of feasibility, we could change Simon's dialogue busts, but redrawing hundreds of scenes would be a huge endeavor.

Filip

Hey! thanks for the reply, I hadn't even thought about that some people with my stance may feel that "ownership" and "used goods" parts and can therefore see where all of these comments are coming from. I first played your game 2 years ago, but haven't really engaged with the community and joined to see your update posts. So I apologize for being uninformed of that side of the discussion. I just read a ton of the comment here and after a while it touched a nerve with me that so many people seemed to "blame" others for not wanting their beloved characters with orcs, and I didn't see that other people have taken the "porperty" stance you said. I do now understand yours and everyone elses stance on the subject better, Thanks for making such a wonderful game and I am exicted for your future projects!

sierralee

It's easy to become frustrated with certain positions, but sometimes that leads people to state things aggressively to vent frustrations. I'm glad that there could be understanding in this case. ^-^

TBH

Hi Sierra! Thanks for the update I can understand people wanting a skip, and looking at some threads that already discussed this, I also fall into the one 'want to keep my wholesome(ish) view point. That said, I wouldn't like if it got removed. Skipped the actual scene? Great option. But the fact that it happens is a detail that I think conveys a lot of the chars inner thinking Don't know if this has been brought up, but any plan on adding some better resolution assets for the different fullscreen sizes?

sierralee

Unfortunately, the engine has no support for different resolutions.

Revy77710

What helps a bit is the program 'Lossless Scaling'. I use the 'FSR' scaler with the highest sharpening option, and it helps to sharpen the picture a bit. It doesn't work uber magic, but it's noticable.

AchtungNight

Probably would go something like this- Ralke- “I hope to defeat Human King, save world.” Ralph- “Huh, okay, I know of one human king who is a pawn for his greedy warmonger military, one who’s just starting a new nation, and another who doesn’t really care about the world at all or so it seems. Which one you think needs defeating?” Ralke- “…”

>Yarra x Orc = NTR What I'd ask anybody who complains about that: Are you for real mate? Are you somehow suggesting Yarra is ANYTHING but a pure, unblemished lady of highest breeding and with impeccable morals? If not, how can you even suggest she would ever engage in NTR. Okay, seriously now, this is just peak autism. I mean isn't the whole point of the scene her still being very stereotypical at this point which includes...y'know, being a bit (but only a tiniest bit!) promiscuous? And considering that from her POV, Orcs are at this time still not really people, but more like tools, I don't see where the "cheating" part of NTR is. Is using sex toys also permanent NTR then? Better rush to unequip that shit then, buddy boyo! Jesus christ, get used to some flexibility. This eerily reminds me of the worst aspects of Japanese Otaku-culture, where people get pissed about their sex object (oh sorry, should I call it "fandom"?) not conforming to their personal fantasies 100% all the time. They're (fictional) people and you don't own them. And that's coming from someone who really enjoyed being able to roleplay a bit by opting for the insaner variants of Varia/Altina.

Probably too much work, but as I'm entering the Erosian war again, I think about Ginasta's time there alone. A standalone DLC focusing on her time there that then has some small effect on the actual game based on decisions made could be interesting, and serve as a chance to see through her eyes for a bit longer than normal. That said, I can see that spiraling quickly and being too much.

That'd be a substantial update, but it's not inconceivable! No promises, but thanks for making a suggestion completely outside anything I was considering, it's good to have different ideas in the mix. ^-^

Seconding the Ginasta dlc idea. Also would enjoy an Orcent dlc with some of his alternate character paths. And more Death content would be great too. Just got her and surprised we can’t introduce her to the kid from the Stineford weapon shop. :( Also would like to see her chat with Dari, Impaler, Ralfe, Wendis, Stark, Ginasta, Varia, Neranda & Esthera. Any of these conversations would be interesting. Maybe an Easter egg conversation with Hilstarra if she had her last stand?

sierralee

I'm sure people would love more Orcent, haha. As for Death, if you haven't gotten through the postgame you'll be getting some more of her!

AchtungNight

Yeah, I still need to get to the postgame. Few more prep quests and the final battle to go, give me a week or two. Hope she has special dialogue with Hester and Xerces also.

There is a subset of people who more or less consider anyone at any time having sex without the protagonist to be NTR. I get hating NTR (I know I do), but as I understand it, it's about cheating or corruption, not literally character A fucks character B, then character B fucks character C = NTR. There will be some grey area for sure, but come on.

Jan Dietrich

Yeah sure, I dislike it too and frankly am plainly bored by it. But the whole point of TLS is, that it's a culturally highly diverse (I somewhat hate that term, but it is appropriate in this case) setting. That means that the cultural background is always important to consider. So if you have a culture, where promiscous sex in itself doesn't equal to unfaithfulness as it would in a Western -or, more accurately, Christian context-, getting all riled up about this scene is a problem of perspective as I see it.

I know I commented about DLC ideas already, but the more I thought about the NTR concerns, the more it bothered me. It so strongly feels like missing one of the core elements of the game to be possessive in those interactions. Yarra isn't around for so much sex that Simon has, and its fine becuse she -knows- it will happen and doesn't care -- in fact, she approves! There is a conversation at one point between... I believe Carina and Nalili? Maybe its Carina and Yarra. Anyways, the conversation is about having sex behind the back of your partner, and Nalili expresses that she wouldn't fuck people behind Simon's back, but doesn't care who he bangs, then following up sort of saying that its not banging other people thats wrong, its hiding it and doing it without the understanding that succubi just inherently have with their partners / doms. Maybe a similar conversation between Yarra and Simon earlier in the game somewhere, with her trying to talk about diplomacy styles and how often Succubi resort to sex, and if that idea bothers Simon, even if he isn't around would help establish a character baseline. People will have their own complaints anyways, but that's true of Robin's relationship as well.

Getting rid of the NTR is a good idea for the game in the long term imo. As someone who absolutely loves the game and has it comfortably in my top 5 RPGS of all time with some of the greats like Fallout 2, Kotor etc. Had TLS had the NTR tag on f95, where I first found the game, or had I seen a comment about NTR I would have 100% avoided the game, it wouldn't have mattered to me how it was explained I would have avoided it. Now obviously having played the game a few times it's clearly not NTR and at no point feels anything like it. But that also doesn't matter to someone interested in the game. All it takes is them seeing that one of the main girls sleeps with someone else and it's an instant avoid from them.

JD

Tags on f95 often make no sense. One game got an 'incest' tag because someone made a very bad incest mod for it, and it took the dev and fans years to convince the mods to remove it. I agree on the main point. People skip games based on tags, and if someone (a mod?) who has a very broad definition of NTR adds the tag people will skip a game based on that. Feels stupid and unfair, but that's the reality of it.
