Surprise .1 update at an unexpected time! Hopefully convenient for people in new time zones, maybe. See this new link for some cleanup as well as universalization of the ledger formatting:

TLS 0.81.1

- Ledger script updated with some new formatting and the new investments included.

- Trin's Copies, Wynn's Ledger, and Uyae's Scroll now all use formatting similar to the new Ledger.

- Hiring the AriGarda now grants a Shining Sword and a Liquid Sex after the pass battle. I don't expect this to change anyone's routing, but it's a sort of chaos I approve of.

- Small modifications to past enemy weaknesses to account for new elements.

- Visual bugs related to the new map and succubus child fixed.

- Minor bugfixing and polishing.

This is a cleanup build, so not that exciting, but I'm glad to have it out for a little while before sending it live on Steam. Please use this one for any playing or testing.

ORIGINAL POST

Let me say one thing for Patreon: the new feature controlling the post preview means I don't have to come up with filler text here. New TLS build!

TLS 0.81.0

- Two new investments have been added that only appear in negative scenarios. These will never be optimal, but should make the investment system a bit more forgiving.

- Ledger and investment returns windows have been overhauled, with fancier formatting and investments divided into tabs by location. No balance changes.

- When considering an investment, an additional window will pop up giving Megail's thoughts and other information.

- Three characters got new portrait/dialogue images to better match the art overall: Elleani, Tertia, and topless Simon.

- Various random mobs have small amounts of added dialogue.

- Two additional illustrations in the intro sequence.

- The prologue now grants a book that can serve as a tutorial for players new to RPGs.

- The first visit to the Stineford region has some added dialogue for Hilstara and Robin.

- Tweaks to events in Stineford, encouraging player to talk to Megail first.

- Additional dialogue upon completion of the spider house in Stineford.

- Chapter 2 roam has been modified so that the player cannot miss Withered Mountain.

- Hiring mercenaries has been tweaked: rewards for multiple companies increased, upkeep costs reduced, personal discretionary penalty removed.

- During Yarra's Route, there are new options for the Orc Council and Ogre scenes.

- A few characters from Dari's quest make earlier cameos in Ardford.

- Similarly, Melymn appears inaccessibly in Theltiar.

- Some conversations before the final battle have been tweaked or extended.

- Grynyth "Play" placeholder removed for now.

- Lilith has an additional conversation variant.

- One new bust image: Luanell now has a unique sprite/face/bust compared to other Givini women.

- Error with Sho's battle images fixed, adding a new battle pose.

- Graphical tweaks to OE succubus children and one of Lynine's assistants.

- The base "map" tiles on the walls have been modified from a general map to the TLS continents.

- Revised scene art: Tertia TF

- New illustrated scenes: Carina + Yarra, Gawnfall Orgy, Sarai's First Time, Yarra Teasing, Riala Prologue, Final Pan Out

I'm so burned out, guys. -_- This week wasn't actually too busy, and I've worked harder many weeks in the past, the problem was that the work sucked. So many tedious tasks that I just had to force myself through... special thanks to LordForte for coding the new investments script, and DukeLetoVII for doing the data work, otherwise that part would simply not have gotten done this build.

Uh... which elements to call out? The one major change in balance is the new catch-up investments, which I hope optimizer types will try out even though they are irrelevant to optimized builds.

The change that affects everyone is the new Ledger/returns screen - please look through this. Hopefully everyone will enjoy, but we can make tweaks if necessary. Once we've finalized all details, we can apply the same formatting to similar lists, like Trin's copies.

There's a little new dialogue across the game, but not tons, and nothing worth replaying for. I thought adding some dialogue to a few mobs was an interesting idea and wasn't sure how far to go, but this is where the game is for now.

I did more on this than intended, clearing out basically my entire list. After we fix any new bugs, this is what I intend to go to version 1.0.0 with... of course I'm open to new ideas or different features, but these were the revisions I had in mind.

Anyway, look at that list of features, consider my burnout, and realize that the chance that I accidentally added some stupid bugs is very high. I know there's not a lot of flashy new content, but I hope that if everyone checks out the features that interest them, between everyone we can fix up anything that needs fixing.

Heck with Megail's thoughts on the investment, I want the consensus from #tls-optimization-chat :-D Little heads for Timeskipper and Scoutman... "In my last opti run, that investment sucked compared to ..."

Makesin

That's honestly way more new content than I was expecting from you at this stage

Love the ledger! Sorry if I misunderstood from reading the patch notes but just in case, it looks like the Threesome Reform investment doesn't have Megail's input.

"- When considering an investment, an additional window will pop up giving Megail's thoughts and other information." That's one thing I love. Some things seem to be flavor text, but these little thoughts actually help to guide the player a bit in a natural way. I'm also happy to see mob-dialogue being added. :) It just adds this little bit of personality to make the world feel alive.

Think I found a bug. Unlike all other scenes I've seen, the new illustrations for the Carina + Yarra scene only take up around 2/3 of the screen. You can see the level map to the bottom and right of each image.

"The prologue now grants a book that can serve as a tutorial for players new to RPGs." ha ha Thanks for the rec last week. About half the way thru Quartet, and it's been fun. Re: Revenue streams in the future. Romance novels. There's a US Today Bestseller about a woman working at a minotaur gloryhole, Morning Glory Farm. Your talents may be wasted on quality work such as TLS, Weirkey, DStP. A glorious future of royalties awaits in writing about lion man pimps or whatever if you take the leap.

Dumb question, but have the two new investments been added to the ledger dataset?

I'm so sorry to hear you are feeling burned out! I hope you are able to get a nice relaxing break soon! Please take good care of yourself!

There plans to add this version to steam down the line? That's just where my main game is and I want to get to explore this new stuff with the progress I've already made!

Hey, this is looking good. I haven't been able to spend much time on this version yet, but I tried to check out a few things. - The new prologue images are great. - I really like the tutorial book. One thing for the tutorial book, when you read a section, it quits out of the screen. It might be better if it went back to the selection menu, as player who earnestly wants to read it will likely want to read all of it. - New investment screen is amazing. It's so much better to look at and read through, great change. - Megail's comments are also amazing, I really want to see all of these. I did notice an issue with these, however. In the first investment section in Yhilin, if you go to talk to Carina at the Cathedral to invest in the shrine, it shows Megail's comment drawn behind Carina's relationship info, which is at the top of the screen. I don't know if there are others like this in the game, but this is the only one I've come across so far. - I like the earlier game cameos, they're fun to see. - Upgraded Luanell looks great, I'm sure it was a lot of work but I'm happy that you were able to make the change. - A couldn't tell a difference for Elleani/Tertia at first glance, I had to do a side by side to the previous version. I do agree the new images are better, but the transition should be seamless.

Regarding the new ledger, I feel some minor changes would make it more agreeable: When displaying returns: A line break before each final sum would make it stand out more. Currently, we can select a country, which allows to scroll down the list of profitable investments. Except the behavior is kind of weird (can scroll down infinitely, can only return to the list by pressing the cancel key). As, even by the endgame, it seems we cannot have enough profitable investments to go off screen, I would remove this feature entirely i.e. have nothing happens when the confirm key is pressed on a country. When accessed in the inventory: Current ProN showing at the end of every list is confusing (at first, I thought it was the profits of each region). Since the info is already available each time the menu is opened, I would just remove it from the ledger entirely. Likewise, I would simply put the Unofficial Merchant/Merchant's Guild Member title once in the Misc tab instead of repeating it for every tab. I think we can get rid of the "select region + scroll investments" thing just by splitting Yhilin investments in two subcategories. As is, if any other region is selected, nothing happens visually, and then any key stops answering except the cancel one, which is unexpected and unintuitive. Both modes: I'm not convinced by all these thick white lines, that I feel diminish readability rather than improve it. To be removed? tl;dr Burn scroll, burn!

I'm not really a member of the optimisers club, but for what it's worth, the investment changes feel fairly underwhelming to me. It looks like they'll help binfire saves with multiple early merc companies to recover a bit, but won't open up any options for merely bad-to-average routes. For example, if you come in at or just over the breakpoints for the pity investments, then it feels to me like you might actually end up worse off than someone who came in just under those thresholds. It'd take more spreadsheeting than I'm willing to undertake to actually prove that, though. I've dumped some numbers and more detailed analysis in this conversation on Discord, if anyone is interested: https://discord.com/channels/896059111106551859/896059891041591316/1421830032850030592

Liquid sex, in chapter 2!? Damn, I really hope that stuff doesn't go bad! But that's a pretty awesome wildcard! I wonder if the Flower Guy investment finds an abyss gem amidst the tulips.

> Hiring the AriGarda now grants a Shining Sword and a Liquid Sex after the pass battle. I don't expect this to change anyone's routing, but it's a sort of chaos I approve of. Looks like this is only applying on the AriGarda-only or AriGarda-plus-one branch. If you hire all three companies, it's still just the 50k ProN. Unsure if this is also intentional chaos.
