Time for the new TLS update!

EDIT: New version, 0.42.1:

Link:  https://mega.nz/#!rp8SHYiK!rPh7y5HsIJu42crdrtti_ufAkTGd5EebCnIMplhTAEY

RTP: https://mega.nz/#!Tp80zQIa!lQN5tJ12L2S-JhF351edGi_VxEwVTM7Y4YPOQWo5ZVk

TLS 0.42.1

 - Plenty of improvements and fixes. Notably, all base characters should have new dialogue.

 - The army calculation has changed. The real calculation is on the ending screen for reference, but Orcent's first conversation just gives hints for investment.

 - Various pieces of equipment were buffed.

TLS 0.42.0 Notes

 - Plot advances with a trip back to Stenai.

 - Upon return from Stenai, multiple events and a dungeon prepping for the next section.

 - The optional challenge dungeon in New Givini is now available.

 - Two new scenes.

 - New investment cycle. Includes a new investment on Succubus Acceptance paths that involves a new scene.

 - A new slate of research options is unlocked, and you have a new research project available.

 - Depending on your research choices, Robin may have a new scene.

 - Four new pieces of customized equipment can be created.

 - Simon now has bust images (both green and black outfits) thanks to Lamsey.

 - A conversation between Altina and Riala about the events in the first chapter has been added retroactively (it isn't accessible in current content).

This is one of those updates where I was making changes and additions right up to the wire. So some parts of this are really well-tested, but there's a fair chance that I added a simple bug like not fading back in, or leaving a test NPC in the game. On that note, if you ever see Aka's old sprite, don't trust it.

One notable part of this update: there's a large calculation involving many different variables. Though I intentionally didn't include certain elements, there may also be variables that should have an impact that I neglected. If you're the type to decrypt the game, I welcome feedback on this.

The optional dungeon is the most work I've put into combat balance in a long time - I tested with a lot of different saves and party compositions. That doesn't mean it will actually play well, though, so I'm curious what people will think. Fair warning: this one is meant to be difficult. I worry that it leans a little much on specific weaknesses, so cheating to find those will obviously make it simplistic.

Having said that, my goal was to require players to shift away from two common strategies. I don't think a party of glass cannons will work in the optional dungeon, and I hope that just using all your best nuke skills also isn't a viable strategy. I was able to win most fights with a subpar party, but it was pretty touchy.

Okay, I think that's all I have to say about this one. Hopefully it's in decent shape and I can roll straight on to the war updates. I look forward to everyone's feedback!

OH MY GAWD NEW UPDATE BY SURPRISE GET YA DICKS AND TITS OUT!

DukeLeto7

For reference, when does the new Altina/Riala scene take place?

Decanter

Hm, I haven't gotten an email notification of this one.

Badger66

Sierra, I really can't express how much you are my favorite developer. You are transparent and let us all know what exactly is going on. You are consistent in the content you create. Your work ethic and creativity are off the charts. The content you create is done with a high level of quality and clear devotion/passion. You listen to our feedback, and really factor that feedback into your development decisions. In my opinion, you are what every developer should aspire to be. So, thank you so much for everything you do! Take care!

Captain Hair

Mildly surprised by an update. Not nearly as much as I was when I misread "Simon now has bust" as "Simon has a bust"

WaxerRed

Talking to Wendis in the tower goes to a permanent black screen. Right after ("lets go meet our guest".)

Hell Satan

I'll play it when I get home sleeping in office sleeping quarters today.

WaxerRed

I made the first slut pin but was unable to put on Yarra. (Also just to clarify are the to new scenes the Succubus acceptance and the Robin research or are they counted separately?)

Captain Hair

Apparently I'm not a narcissist, because it took for-fucking-ever for me to find the hidden teleport in the optional dungeon. I couldn't figure out where in the maze I was turning wrong. But I have a problem, the square between the two barrier squares sends me back to start, and the hidden port doesn't work right twice, it just sends me back to start too.

Edward Culham

I have been trying to figure out the path to the right chest; haven't figured it out yet. Have done all the switch patterns and everything just keep getting teleported out

Captain Hair

I have another error for the optional dungeon. I looted everything in the dungeon, but didn't leave during the initial prompting after the key room, because I was still working on the maze. Upon leaving through the front door it flagged the quest as me having left for healing.

DukeLeto7

Is the Ivalan Temple in Gasm Falls supposed to be a non-returning investment?

Salazade

where is the optional dungeon?

genericname12345

Where did you all find 5.0 million spare ProN to invest into the dungeon? I've only just come to the point I feel comfortable setting some aside for next round. Made 3.2 million. W/ Military Airships, Ivalan and Stineford Banks making money, and Dwarven Embassy (screwed up Aram so it costs me 300k) that'll bring me down a bunch, but the profits will bump me up to 5.0 million next round.

Seil

So, for reference, regarding Orcent... Core troops. Size - 155. Quality - 44. Ancillary forces. Size - 65. Quality - 43. Core troops could be larger, because i saved up pron for optional dungeon now, to see how it goes. I can push it back opening it one ProN iteration later to get Airships now, etc. Edit: So, i assume the optional dungeon will have stuff for custom equipment, like Nalili, Yarra and Vhala. Plus likle other goodies as well. Re:Bonus Dungeon, figuring out how to deal with enemies is fun. Etrian Odyssey is back!! Hurray. So far i am doing okay with Simon, Aka (Disabling Assault helps with one rather troublesome enemy, plus you can blind one other, to pretty much disable it, especially when there was 3 of them), Robin (mainly here to nuke things once i figure out what can be nuked with what) and Uyae (magic specced for main healer role.). Oh, wow. Etrian Odyssey is definitely back. Blind an enemy, it uses 100% accurate wipe your party aoe as a response. Fuuuuuun!

DankPotatoes

My game is bugged when i talk to Wendis is the extradimensional base. She says "in that case let me bring in our guest" and then the screen goes permanently black. The game doesn't crash. It just doesn't proceed either

Ditto

Small bug: Orcent will say about being with Kara after his report even if she was never recruited. Here is the Military Report Overall Army Size: 175 Army Quality: 47 Core Forces Erosia Army Size: 95 Army Quality: 37 Yhilin Stabilized Army Size: +15 Army Quality: +2 Tak'Kan Contributed Army Size: +35 Army Quality: +3 Chalice States Contributed Army Size: +20 Army Quality: +5 Airships Standing By Combined Forces Army Size: 165 Army Quality: 47 Volunteers New Givini sent a small group of knights New Givini Mages Guild sent some mages Small but strong group of veterans New Unionist Party of Zirantia spared a few Order of Silence sent a small group of knights Ancillary Forces Size: 80 Quality: 50

DukeLeto7

FWIW, I took your comment on "Glass Cannons" in the Optional Dungeon very literally and leaned very hard into the opposite party configuration: Simon, Vhala, Hilstara and Carina. The two boss fights SHOULD have killed me, but I struggled through the tentacle guards on the 1st try and the Terror Knights on the 3rd. I'm leaning towards subbing in Uyae for Hilstara on my next run through, but I think that Vhala is a "must have" given the number of enemies weak or not immune to anti-sex and blindness. I don't really have any thoughts on the Army calculation yet. We'll see whether Fulminato or I do the job of going through the code first...

WaxerRed

I managed to beat the Knights! YAY it only took...a lot of tries. I managed through with a party of Simon, Carina, Qum, and Robin. As for the knight fight I I don't know if it was me getting better or just brute forcing the RNG to work in my favor but the three knights at once was a near impossible challenge that took over a dozen tries, but I managed well enough on my first try with two and one was a joke. Biggest hardship was one shot KO's I was sometimes faced with, but my saving grace was the GOM pin on Carina which kept her up fairly well and massively increased MP. I think it could perhaps due with a bit of fine tuning, but I guess if I could beat it anyone could! So great boss fight overall! Primary thoughts though, I would spend so so so much ProN not to be forced to have Simon in party 24/7. He's my favorite of any of the charters personality wise, but...a lot less so combat wise. But lack of actual use in combat aside SL would you ever considering increasing the MP gain of Lust renewal? Since we need him EVERY fight there really is no way around having to feed him mana potions in longer dungeons, save perhaps using yarra's mana ability but there wasn't much time in this dungeon. Anyway it was a fun challenge...but it is going to be rough when I need to beat it again on subsequent play through.

DukeLeto7

Minor note. There's no indication either in the Ch4 Iterate summary or from Megail that the Synod Economic Bonus ProN has been added.

StormyAngel

The Ivalan Succubus scene doesn't show up in Simon's Reflect skill, unless I missed it somewhere. Otherwise awesome update! You made it sound like a small one but it's full of the little interactions that made me love this game. Since the next update is the war and we're nearing the end of chapter 4, I can't help feeling that the other shoe is about to drop. Esthera painted a pretty picture for how Simon could swiftly attain all the shards...too pretty. I suspect stuff is going to go down that will set up the final conflict for chapter 5. Either Wendis is going to be the main enemy (I do find this unlikely, but I'm feeling paranoid. I imagine Simon's goal would be to save her regardless), or the Anak. Or, heck, maybe Ivala. (Part of me was thinking, hmm...need an expert in the godly side of the tower? Maybe that mysterious divinity we've been peeking in on periodically would like to volunteer...) Whatever happens, I am super excited to see what happens next. Great work! :) Edit: By the way, during the Fheliel interaction, it sounds an awful lot like she's figured out that Simon is the Doom King. When she asks what he wants to do to her (paraphrasing). Is that supposed to be a subtle hint? If she's not supposed to think that and you don't want it sounding like that, you might want to consider editing those lines a bit.

Fulminato

Searching through the game code for synod-fallout-event i find a couple of (probably) bug/incorrect behaviour: 1) the new line for the mother priestess in the yhilin slum are added only to the pre-yhilin final slum version, not the post final one. 2) the succubus cultist in the GoM sect's tunnel has her new dialogue Page (5) under the switch [SUCKNI: Accepted] (3277) On, but in the dialogue the condition checked is the same switch (3277), making the else branch inaccessible

DukeLeto7

Trivial and silly: I'm assuming "Ye Olde Fucklord Fracas" has not been canonized as the name of the upcoming conflict like the "3rd Arclent War".

werewindle

Whew, finally got my ass through the New Givini dungeon, good grind. Definitely gonna wait for the next iteration before doing it "for real" though, the goodies are not worth skipping other investments at this critical juncture, ha. Vhala was the MVP with Riala as the generalist caster. I underused Uyae in favour of either a glass cannon fighter or another caster, but I use Uyae a lot for general dungeon cleanup, so no bad feelings. Final fight worked well for me with the good ol' Qum/Hilstara/Robin combo that could probably survive a nuke to the face. Overall I think you did a good job, even after figuring out the weaknesses it's still plenty tough and save heavy. Minor nitpick: should the rusty key stay in the inventory after unlocking the door? Re: new items. Does the orcsphere do anything at this point? Balia says the effect should be immediate, but I didn't notice anything. I'm still going with it, because tbf Vhala's new armor is underwhelming. I employ her for the Arrow of Abstinence, not for tanking, so that pathetic MAG bonus doesn't inspire me to rework her Savant's Cloak+Mammoth Helm combo. Nalili's new armor looks better, tho it's gonna take some tinkering I guess. So far I have her in dwarven samurai gear + buttplugged for the SP, so the MAG boost will be nice, but at this point I'm starting to grouch about the wasted shield slot. The succubi have a lot of nice stuff to hold, but that SP preservation is too good to ignore, the first combat round is simply too critical to spend jerking around most of the time. Would be so nice if their personalized items included SP preservation... oh well. No opinions on Yarra's pin, cause it's broken, heh. The new Incubus Gauntlet isn't meant for my Simon build. I remember I was skeptical about the memeshield at first, but that was uninformed folly and now I'm a true believer. Who cares about crippled MAG/LCK when Simon actually outputs solid damage and still gets to crit on regular attacks. Anyway, great update, lots of things from every aspect of the game. PS: Boost Aka somehow, deadly girl's skills scale v poorly at this point.

Desuwa

As soon as I could talk to Orcent my combined total was 145/43 but after doing this round of investments I ended at 155/46. Since the investments do have an immediate effect on army size (including auxiliaries) I'd like to see Orcent repeat the full text instead of just the final summary. Maybe as a breakout option. I did not get to the bonus dungeon, probably won't even get to it next cycle since I spent everything this cycle. Is there going to be a point where the dungeon rewards are no longer available? I can easily unlock it if I need to do it now, but that's a lot to sacrifice.

Lamsey

This is a good setup update for the coming war, though it felt a little brief to me without being able to access the optional dungeon in New Givini. To be clear, I'm not complaining, but others might, so perhaps it'd be good to flag it in the public release post. As implied above, I didn't have enough ProN to unlock the optional dungeon (I made about 335k in the new iteration, but had previously spent pretty much everything). A special build to grant temporary access to the dungeon via a one-time event might be useful if you want to get more people playtesting it without having to backtrack and replay the whole of Gawnfall (I'm balking at that thought after so many test playthroughs). On Stenai: hmm, difficult to tell which is the best way to go on the troops. I guess it's one of those "go with your gut" decisions, the effects of which will only be clear in hindsight. The intimidation event is good - I like these fights where you have to do something other than just mindlessly defeating whatever's in front of you. On the Aram Tower: I like the introduction of the multi-phase concept, and I'd like to see it developed further in a later dungeon. It obviously lends itself well to puzzling, and the teamwork aspect would be interesting - what if the movements in each axis could be combined (e.g. down in the Divine/Sexual Axes, but up in the Arcane/Demonic Axes, and east-by-north-west in the Sparkly Axis)? I very much enjoyed the Sparkly phase, both for the silliness of the chests/enemies and Qum's touching conversation with Scary Simon Wife (funny how it's only Qum who's got a concise way of differentiating between Wendis's aspects). There's a major game-breaking bug here, though - the Pretty Sparklies from the chests don't show up in Key Items, despite clearly being the most important loot items in the entire game so far. On investments: I now have the ProN to pick up the final prerequisite for Orri's Restaurant, and the teasing of Megail pleased me immensely. I just hope that the change in the restaurant's ingredients doesn't have anything to do with the sinister subplot that's slowly unfolding at the nearby stables. I also hope there won't be any major penalties for failing to do the optional New Givini dungeon in this iteration, because I'll only just have enough saved up for it on the next iteration even if I focus solely on war prep during this iteration. On the army: I wonder if the Orcent event might be too early, given that it can happen before a bunch of things that might affect it, such as improving Tak'Kan score or letting Balia create the Orcsphere. The post-crafting conversation says there should be an immediate benefit to making the Orcsphere, but it doesn't appear to change army size or quality, nor does it affect the strength/intelligence/discipline stats (I'm at 12/12/12). My army numbers as reported by Orcent, in case that's useful: Before 3AW: 187/28 Core forces: 95/37 Yhilin: 15/2 Tak'Kan: 25/2 Chalice: 15/4 Total: 150/45 Ancillary forces: 65/43 I can't speak much about balance, since I don't have a view on the underlying calculations, but I'd have thought that Yhilin's forces would be at least as high-quality as the Chalice States, rather than on the same level as Tak'Kan. I don't know if this is just down to my stats, but I didn't get any ally contributions from Eustrin (perhaps they could send some equipment, but not troops, so increasing quality only?) or the Sylvan realms (perhaps Darghelon could send a small detachment of bowmen, prompting Gheldaron to grumpily send some mages so as not to lose face?). I assume it's too early for Yelarel's order of succubus knights to make a contribution. On custom equipment: I only seem to be able to craft the Orcsphere or Vhala's armour, so I guess the other two new options must be locked behind the optional dungeon or investments I haven't yet made. Yarra's still looking for an appropriate material for her pin, Nalili's looking for a sexual energy source, Qum is still think think thinking, and Aka said she might be interested in a Crystal of Stability but she hasn't finished her plans yet. I believe I've done everyone else (Aka's knife, Hilstara's helm (plus upgrade), Robin's Arcane Crystal, Altina's wand, Varia's blades). Random thoughts: I really liked the conversation in the research projection about Alonon's revelation, particularly Robin's scarecrow analogy. It's good that multiple characters are having varied reactions to it, since different players will tends towards agreeing with different viewpoints. I've also just done the orc slums for the first time, and I love the subtlety of this running joke: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/t1owg60siorzb33/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.10.21.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/t1owg60siorzb33/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.10.21.png?dl=0</a> Minor bugs/suggestions: I agree with the others who thought that Fheliel seems too much like she's in on the Doom King secret. It'd be better if she asked Simon the same question but phrased it as "If you were an Incubus King, ..." or "If you were the Doom King, ...". That would be consistent with her having suspicions but not yet openly revealing them. There's no text for the first blockage which the player encounters in the Aram Tower: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/asb4b1v2ez3ag63/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2016.50.14.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/asb4b1v2ez3ag63/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2016.50.14.png?dl=0</a> ... and this line doesn't really make sense when it occurs before the blockages have been explained: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/ufepxmltannlmek/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2016.52.51.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/ufepxmltannlmek/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2016.52.51.png?dl=0</a> Balia disappears from Premium Steel if you choose "Not now" after she asks to make an Orcsphere, which is frustrating if the player just wanted to defer the decision (e.g. to speak to Vhala first). After the initial conversation, talking to Orcent only shows the total numbers for the main force - it might be useful to show the total for the ancillary forces too. I think it's good to have the current teleporter room layout for Thenours while they're still setting the connection up, but once more locations are opened up, it'd be cool if it was laid out geographically like the Arclent map. Regardless, the current positioning of the crystals seems off relative to the Thenours map; I would definitely swap Erosia and Rodak, and probably also Stenai and Ghenalon. <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/n7uiz3696jf37yq/thenours-crystals.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/n7uiz3696jf37yq/thenours-crystals.png?dl=0</a> I'd probably also be inclined to make Rodak white and Ghenalon green. Not sure what colours would best fit the other nations. Janine seems a bit isolated in the HQ, with only Trin for company and nothing on the table in front of her. It'd be a nice touch to have Kia keeping her company or bringing her food, seeing as she says she loves doting on Janine when she visits. Sarai bed's seems like a unique design - perhaps it could be an unlockable HQ option after hitting 100 relationship, similar to Wynn? I haven't noticed this shop before, not sure if it's just me being unobservant or if I only just unlocked it. Regardless, I'm not sure what chaos she's referring to. The shop also seems kinda bare for a luxury ornament shop - no sales desk? <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/ves4rumx0qx5l5v/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2017.55.24.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/ves4rumx0qx5l5v/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2017.55.24.png?dl=0</a> I was surprised that you added Simon's initial bust image at the end of the prologue, rather than on his first spoken line like with other characters, i.e. this one: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/n3gdb76os3778g8/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2015.12.16.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/n3gdb76os3778g8/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2015.12.16.png?dl=0</a> It seems a bit inconsistent, but I guess it's to signify that Kai doesn't take any notice of him, whereas he does notice Altina since she's hot? Part of me wonders if I should make a version of Simon with no facial features to simulate Kai-Vision :-P. Regardless, the colour filter on the "damn, another one got himself killed" scene means that his bust image is darkened considerably (e.g. see the contrast between the bust and the faceset): <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/qtrgw0efhm6wke7/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2015.18.05.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/qtrgw0efhm6wke7/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2015.18.05.png?dl=0</a> Not sure if this is deliberate. It kinda makes sense in a funny way, given that his cloak would be drenched... The placement of the chairs and characters on these tables is awkward again - I could try to make an altered version to help with that. If someone could point me at the source graphics, that'd be handy - I can't see it in the RTP, and I don't have RPG Maker to extract it from TLS. <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/wx275pr2gc53ybi/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2017.57.55.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/wx275pr2gc53ybi/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2017.57.55.png?dl=0</a> Typos: all the remains -> all that remains: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/3c1vxmsk2nh7jyr/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2015.27.26.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/3c1vxmsk2nh7jyr/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2015.27.26.png?dl=0</a> thing -> think: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/g51xuhz6x6d18se/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2015.41.16.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/g51xuhz6x6d18se/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2015.41.16.png?dl=0</a> intimdiate -> intimidate: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/yfbsb539toiqyig/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2015.44.18.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/yfbsb539toiqyig/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2015.44.18.png?dl=0</a> clammoring -> clamoring: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/wuo5fr5e9wbo80m/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2016.00.38.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/wuo5fr5e9wbo80m/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2016.00.38.png?dl=0</a> Riala and I -> Riala and me (unless deliberate voicing): <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/nhsett8mi4w2gmj/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2016.54.26.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/nhsett8mi4w2gmj/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2016.54.26.png?dl=0</a> wanna -> want / wanna make: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/e31t2zxkiepkbzp/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2017.18.38.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/e31t2zxkiepkbzp/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2017.18.38.png?dl=0</a> entites -> entities: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/0fj8tkpwsn2hno4/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2017.23.55.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/0fj8tkpwsn2hno4/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2017.23.55.png?dl=0</a> worst -> worse? <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/p6dhcp0a52biyvx/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2017.27.21.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/p6dhcp0a52biyvx/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2017.27.21.png?dl=0</a> adapt the -> adapt to: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/8b2d4iacgksqjk5/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.09.14.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/8b2d4iacgksqjk5/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.09.14.png?dl=0</a> "protects status" is awkward, but not sure how best to rephrase in the available space - "grants immunities" maybe? <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/u4tvx7j4jdasf29/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.26.15.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/u4tvx7j4jdasf29/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.26.15.png?dl=0</a> Overflow: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/disrgymgt64kmv9/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.47.00.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/disrgymgt64kmv9/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.47.00.png?dl=0</a> Also overflow, and "into her stomach" sounds anatomically implausible unless succubi are very different internally: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/zwoyyab6wjibwk0/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.48.27.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/zwoyyab6wjibwk0/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.48.27.png?dl=0</a> understanding's -> understandings: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/9t374ttyuvg3mhm/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.50.47.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/9t374ttyuvg3mhm/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.50.47.png?dl=0</a> lay her down -> laid her down (last line): <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/uq0ybl8tyat4jgw/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.51.46.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/uq0ybl8tyat4jgw/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.51.46.png?dl=0</a> "without ever touching him directly" doesn't sound quite right, given she's been wrapped around his neck, pressing her breasts and hips against him: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/skfx6jm82rtdrts/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.52.38.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/skfx6jm82rtdrts/Screenshot%202019-04-28%2018.52.38.png?dl=0</a>

Blue Dragon

Still working my way through the update -- I hit the secret dungeon early on in my investment spree -- but after several hours in the secret dungeon, I hate the secret dungeon. This is mostly because I really like how useful status effects and debuffs are in this game (ala the Trails series or SMT) and I tend to roll with a status-effect and debuff-centric "control" party -- unlike the apparently common glass cannons. As apparently opposite of the person who wants to be able to remove Simon from their party, he's a centerpiece of lots of my strategies with his ability to spread around useful status effects easily. However, with everything in the secret dungeon being effectively immune to most debuffs and status effects, with incredible damage output, it's meant that every battle thus far has devolved into a slug-fest of 'take hit, heal, repeat' without much room for tactics or variation. The worst offenders thus far have been the three knights at the end, who slaughter me without a chance to do anything meaningful while healing themselves. Still trying to figure out a way for Simon, Hilstara, Vhala, and Carina to push through -- everyone else dies too quickly to do anything at all. Sorry for whining; this has just been incredibly frustrating, and combat is generally one of the bright spots of the game for me.

My own long story thoughts to add to the pile after giving this update some time to digest Nice to be back in Stenai, and helping our young halfling princess to be was nice. I was glad Lynine got some serious dialogue this update! And some that showed off more to her then the self proclaimed 'succubus wanna-be' and seeing the brains that got her to be an elder! And the parallel between Feremina and Janine's story was something I had thought of before and was glad it was brought up here! Butthat being mostly a side quest on to the more pressing business with Stenai. I liked all the little dialogue bits the empress had with Rialia and her daughter. And as for Fheliel I choose to be direct in Simon's response. My main concern was not how to answer, but why Fheliel was asking in the first place. I feel like she is playing a much bigger game then flirting with the doom king's commander for fun. So I look forward to seeing her story develop! For the choice I actually went with Fheliel's advice. I like Esthra but she at one point poked fun at the LustLord for getting a large shard and just coasting ever since...but on hasn't she been doing the same? She got herself a shard overthrew the ruling incubus king created her nation and then...nothing for decades. Is she really an expert in battle plans? Or does she want Simon to just rush in and attack for her own emotional reasons? A good hard choice either way. Coming back to the base to prepare didn't have the same 'dire' tone pre 3AW had. Just an idea but maybe before we set off next chapter maybe have a few elite succubus and orcs around base and talking to Simon before setting off? Or some troop movement in Yhilin and recruiters out there? As for Orcents evaluation I had core forces of 160 quality 45. Ancillary 65 quality 42 I don't really know f that is amazing, good, or terrible. I don't have an idea how hard this would be behind the scenes but would it be possible for Orcent to comment how 'good' our army is? So players who are behind can have a warning to seriously start investing in anything to benefit the war. Saria's time with Wendis was fun, it was nice to see them getting along! Even if it was for too short of a time. As I commented previously I really enjoyed the mechanic here and wouldn't mind a harder version! And I liked the comedic 5 second pause before the 'boss fight' in the tower dungeon. Givini dungeon on the other hand is harder for me to comment on. But if I had to compare it to another of your dungeons like the 'Wendis dungeon' I have to say I kinda prefer the latter in every way. Starting off with the puzzles- comparing the switch pillars to the floor tiles. As cool as the chapter 1 call back was, the tiles are more annoying then mentally puzzling. There isn't as much thinking as trial and error-ing your way to the end. And more often then not getting the wrong tile would send you back to a point where it would take you two or three loading screens to get back where you where, which may not sound bad but when you have to repeat it over and over 70 times it can get annoying. Compared to the Wendis dungeon switch towers it took me twice as long to find the solution but it felt much more satisfying as it took some thought an planning to get from a to b to c and so on. And trying to get five different switches down and getting to the right chest was a better challenge in my eyes. Monsters- this might be a personal preference but I enjoy endurance fights more then a few hard hitting battles. Endurance battles really make me use each and everyone of my combat members to the fullest of their abilities and stamina, it forces the player not just play it safe with a 'favorite party' but use as many people as possible to conserve health and mana. But for these mega harder fights half my combat members shouldn't have even bothered coming. I like them personally, but they would just die the movement any of the foes touched them. But my BIGGEST and only thing that I can actually call not a personal nitpick but a real complaint was the lack of lore! LORE! The whole place was just two big more or less empty rooms. What was the story there? What happened to this incubus king? Does it have any connection to the ruins found in devil's pass? Why was the OG normally uncaring incubus King focused on this ruin for a time? The mystery behind what was behind the hatch doors was growing for all of chapter four...but there really wasn't much but monsters and loot inside. That review was even more negative then I wanted it to be, but I just thought it best to give an honest impression. Obviously a lot of leeway should be given since it was a one off optional dungeon, but I really hope the story of it is added in at some point. But back to the good, it was nice to see another scene from Ginasta even if it wasn't all that pleasant from her end. I know some people in 'seedier' forums for this game have been calling for a hard downfall to Ginasta but I actually like her alot and can't help but agree with some of her points. (Simon went from owning a small cabin to owning a content and a half in about...5 years. On his shard fueled trajectory he'll own the entire world in another five years and even with the good he does there SHOULD always be some emergency force outside his control with the power to oppose him if the need ever came.) But anyhow I was glad she was able to keep her dignity but brushing off the fucklord's '1000 rapes attack' like it was nothing. I do kind of wish it did not look like she was taken down by one punch from Sabitha but that's probably just the limitation of RPG maker. I'm curious where her story will go. I'll just go ahead and assume you plan to avoid the trope of... "Oh brave knight Simon you defeated the evil fucklord and freed me from the tower he locked me in? I was completely wrong about you fuck my pussy now!" I hope to see Ginasta free herself or perhaps even the people she's saved along the way come to her aid. Anyhow great prep update for what is coming to the finale of chapter 4, I'm excited to see whats next so thanks and great work SL!

Is the Ardford base equipment shop new to 0.42? Or did I miss it in 0.41?

B Leo

So is there any problem if I saved after seeing the army calculation in 0.42.0 or should I start again from an older save? The ending screen message got me worried.

L.S

Just a couple things with custom equipment I've noticed- some could be bugs, some could just be me missing the obvious: 1- In Premium Steel, Altina still says she needs Lightwood and a really good mage, but I already got her her enchanted wand using the wood and stenai mage. Pretty sure this is a bug. 2- Apparently Balia has a custom item, but I've talked to her in both base locations (and she doesn't bring up the item) and visited all the equpiment forges (and she isn't there). From comments above, it seems like she should be in Premium Steel (one comment mentioned that going to talk to Vhala de-spawned her so assume they are in the same location), but she isn't there for me. 3- I talked to Vhala after having already done the research, so now she just says she needs proper materials, but I'm not sure where that would be- revisited most ore and armor shops I could remember off the top of my head, but the ones that weren't closed (dwarf kingdom) didn't have anything new there AFAI could see. This is likely me just missing something obvious, or related to deeper tower stuff through Wendis' segment as I tend to put off progression stuff till the end.

ECD

Three points I haven't seen mentioned: 1) In the final screen, Sarai's Harem image doesn't show up, instead the message asking for a report does. 2) Dari's image on the harem screen shows up as humanish, even if the internal changes were chosen. 3) Can't speak for anyone else, but I'd find a final tally on country scores really helpful at the end screen, as has sometimes been done in the past.

DukeLeto7

Trivial: Has Yelarel cottoned to the fact that Simon is the Doom King? Because Iris' saying "I think you should join them, my lord. The Incubus Emperor would never have been so generous with his power." in front of Yelarel just before the ivalan Temples scene seems to suggest that she thinks Yelarel knows.

Runcible Technician

Found a save far enough back to hear Altina's talk with Riala, I feel it summed it up nicely. Thank you.

0.41.1 reports: Thug hobbit seems to have started taking his halfling stature a little too seriously for some reason: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/8zkhrfojiwj2xbl/Screenshot%202019-05-01%2019.46.50.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/8zkhrfojiwj2xbl/Screenshot%202019-05-01%2019.46.50.png?dl=0</a> <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/sgd1yz7a89ti961/Screenshot%202019-05-01%2019.47.21.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/sgd1yz7a89ti961/Screenshot%202019-05-01%2019.47.21.png?dl=0</a> <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/dtrk7mi9wwn9lp6/Screenshot%202019-05-01%2019.53.43.png?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/dtrk7mi9wwn9lp6/Screenshot%202019-05-01%2019.53.43.png?dl=0</a> It only happens during the battle; the conversation beforehand and afterwards is fine. I wouldn't have expected non-combat harem members to be present on a Tower excursion (apart from Sarai, who's there on business), and Balia doubly so given that orcs are not involved. Still haven't tried the optional dungeon, but I'll try and get a save into shape for it tomorrow evening.

is this update out on steam? becouse my version is still running 4.1.x according to the guy in the teleport room, and i cant find any beta options in the steam settings.

FormerHater

It's been a while since i've had some free time. So i finally managed to get through Gawnfall. I know that was a long time ago but i wish to say that felt excellent. Much less like The Summit at Ardford, which i think was a great idea. After all, you're not talking to politicians. or at least most of them don't consider themselves to be such, great developmnets as well. I Spent like 8 hours experimenting and taking notes until getting a result i was happy with. Now, back to the current update. Going back to Stenai and deciding on my approach to war was fascinating and gave much room for thought. and the princess busywork was a cute bonus. Out of curiosity was there an actual method to persuade the thugs or fight them without actually beating their asses? Investments always bring fun possibilities, I have to give you credit, i had figured that as soon as i got profits in the realm of 3 million i would stop paying that much attention and just invest in everything, but even now i find myself squeezing every single note as much as i can and working the math while thinking about the next round of investments and balancing social issues. I think this is one of the areas where this game continues to shine the brightest, mindful consideration of multiple paths with valid reasoning and benefits. The tower section was an interesting way of displaying a complex idea such as unweaving layers of reality with minimal ressources, the change of enemies in each layer, the color filters and the blockades are an interesting concept i would like to see deepened in a bigger field, though i understand the difficulties of that considering the important updates that are comming. The balance of gameplay and story are pretty good. The gameplay mechanics play into the worldbuilding and story itself which I love. The enemies, while stronger, continue to be mostly predictable, which is to be expected for regular monsters but i wish it could be a bit more complex. Which leads me to the last point. I used a save editor because i couldn't just wait for the day when I finally saved enough to open it, so i just gave myself 5 million and cracked it open. I have to say, i was unprepared. My strategy is usually a quick burst of focus fire to high priority targets to secure victory early on. I won't mind the spoilers since i figure anyone who doesn't want to get them already stoped reading. My party is lvl 67 on average. and i try to keep up with the best equipments. I still had a game over on my first combat, which forced me to adapt, i was slightly dissapointed at the re-use of models and enemies which were just buffed beyond belief. But i think there is still time before anyone conceivably gets there in a legitimate way, i would love for the models to be slightly different, or at least reflect the deterioration mentioned. After a slight change of tactics i was able to get through most combats with my life. I remembered the weaknesses of the monsters and prepared accordingly. I still saved the game before every combat just to be cautious. I loved the feeling of being threatened so seriously, much more challenging than the lower parts of the tower in the realm of The Entity. I reached a standstill with the tentacle beasts, and i'm affraid i mostly bruteforced my way through them by lowering their stats with Vhalia and Aka, while keeping up defenses and healing with Carina and simon using unified strike i managed to get through the roaming tentacles. I missed a dialoge line slightly later on in the middle of my excitement so i decided to reset my save to see it and much to my dismay the tentacle beasts were still alive, i had forgotten to save. This dissapointing misshap brought a delightful epiphany, the tentacle guardians were particulary fierce at first so Simon had to use potions to keep up my chances of survival, i wasn't able to use unified strike to blind the creatures, but then i noticed they weren't using their deadliest move "roaming tentacles" and then it hit me, "Of course they're not doing that, the attack hit me while they were blinded because they were just moving mindlessly!" and now with their eyesight intact, the battle was much easier. The monsters down here are a great example of a combat system that is as thoughtful as the rest of the game, i loved those subtle differences and trial and error method which requires observation to overcome most of it. Finally i have to mention what i considered to be a negative, not of this update itself, but a fundamentally broken mechanic, which funnily enough makes sense inside the world, Varia. The moment i got to the last enemy of the dungeon i found myself outmached, most of my party could get one-shot, even Hilstara with a Holy shieldwall and iron will could be killed in a single turn, so i figured i just wasn't strong enough, and by the time i could get the money by legitimate means I would have gotten far stronger, i just decided to have fun with it and see if i could kill at least one of them. I don't use Varia because i just think it either gives you an easy mode, no thinking, high reward character. Lo and behold, first time i use her, she survives a round with servant's frenzy and uses Blade dance. One of the flames died in the initial assault. i just couldn't believe it. i had been trying for a long time with little to no success, and then i just killed one of the guys without even trying. I still lost, but then i tried a couple more times, in just 3 attempts i managed to beat them. The enemies that had beaten me so hard i was happy to call it a day, those imposing boss monsters, wiped out in 4 attempts. it felt unsatisfying, and i have to admit, i brought it upon myself, thats why i don't use that character for the most part, but i don't want to feel like the game promotes and rewards this idea that if you are having a hard time, just stop thinking and get lucky, you will win eventually, regardless of enemy design. i got the pin, i was expecting an incubus king weapon, but i guess that will be the ultimate prize to complete the set in an even harder place. This was not the first time that Varia just broke the enemy design, back in the realm of The Entity, there was an enemy called "Rended flesh" or something, which could heal back most of its HP, the easy way was to use a silence. i only found out after my second playthrough cause Varia was enough to kill it with a little luck. same as this time, just a couple of attempts later and i was victorious. I honestly think she needs to be powered down or at least her move, and moves like succubus kiss buffed as has been suggested in the past. It's just absurd how much of a reward that move can grant in comparison to others, the risk isn't even that high. But i'm just rambling at this point. I forgot to mention, it was great to see the comparison of my army back then to my army today, and feeling proud of how far they've come. Now we rally support, instead of scraping for ragtag militias. In general i'm loving the direction the events are taking and look forward to seeing your vision which has never dissapointed me in the years i've been playing this game. I wish you the best, do take your time and stay strong in the face of the obstacles, tests and nuissances life places in the road. Cheers.

Sorry for the wall of text, don't mind me, i just really like this game.

Replaying Chapter 4 right now, nice to see a lot of the little things added through updates are accessible right from the start. Does the new conversation add to Altina's RP? I don't remember locking her that early in previous versions. What is that chest full of Sx in the flowhouse? Lynine's own savings? No one comments on it, which I find a bit strange. I sided with Orilise back in the days, so Chapter 4 is the first time I can enter this building.

Bit late, but I just finished the New Givini optional dungeon on 0.41.1. I took notes as I went along so you can get a real-time impression of my thoughts as I went through it, but be warned it's a bit verbose: <a href="https://www.dropbox.com/s/a9fkr6237f5edy9/ancient_ruin.txt?dl=0" rel="nofollow noopener" target="_blank">https://www.dropbox.com/s/a9fkr6237f5edy9/ancient_ruin.txt?dl=0</a> TL;DR version (which itself is probably TL;DR): * The four Horrors were straightforward enough once I worked out their weaknesses. I think it'd be better if their elemental weaknesses were more similar to the ones in the Devil's Pass dungeon, so that experienced/knowledgable players get a little reward for remembering which element to use for each, but still have to adapt to changes like the ghosts being vulnerable to sex/anti-sex but not fire. * Please enable the Escape option in the fights so we don't have to constantly restart the game to work out the correct party composition. * The tentacle monsters are pretty ridiculous, mainly because the AoE attacks always hit, and they always use them after round 2. What's the point of making them blindable if the blindness doesn't have any effect after the first couple of rounds? * Vhala, Carina and Robin are MVP. Hilstara, Aka, Riala and Altina get a look in for specific fights. Everyone else is either too glassy, lacking in relevant abilities, or unable to use their skills consistently due to needing to crank one out every second turn. * The teleport puzzle was fine - not too onerous to map out, especially since it gave a break from the fights. The mirror and second blue switch were neat, subtle tricks. I wonder if it'd be better to show the effect of each red switch when flicking them, since it's tedious navigating around the whole map to see what changed (same as with the Deep Tower switches). * The knights were the least fun I've had playing any of your games. The fact that they can one-shot most of the party means that there are very few characters who can contribute meaningfully, due to the inevitability of unlucky RNG in such a long fight. That's exacerbated by the fact that blinding the blue/yellow ones doesn't seem to have much effect. The silence-is-bad trick with the green one just feels like a dick move. All of this tends towards the fight taking an age, because the player spends all of their time defending and healing and slowly chipping away with ineffective attacks, since the only characters who can deal effective damage are all too fragile to be usable. * Rewards are... OK, I guess. The Incubus Glove gives Simon some more tactical flexibility, I guess the Pin will be useful in the fullness of time, and it looks like we'll need as many of these Liquid Sex things as we can get, seeing as everyone's starting to squabble over the crafting components. It's difficult to see how all that (plus some Sx and a throne) is worth 5k ProN, so I guess it comes down to just how important/powerful the Armour Of The Incubus Tyrant set ends up being. * I had to actually resort to mana potions. *shakes fist*
