This is the equivalent of staggering toward the finish line and falling with one hand over, but we're here. TLS 0.57.x is a go!

- Massive new multi-branching event.

- Two new scenes, kind of.

- 17 new illustrated scenes: Aka + Nalili, Carina First Time, Elleani First Time, Lamia Prisoner, Office Orgy, Orcent x Succubus, Qum Maxing, Qum x Futa, Trin + Altina Copies, Varia Gangbang, Yarra x Qum, Yarra x Ogre (+5 affection scenes for Aka, Yarra, and Qum)

This one is messy, partially by choice. I've learned that patrons are good at analyzing the equations or reminding me of details, but fundamentally shaping the update needs to happen on my end or it won't happen. So when I had the choice between taking a few hours to polish things up or to add a new complexity, I went with the latter. The result was very likely snowballing oversights, but I believe it will lead to the best final update.

I threw out all normal procedures for testing, because I'm too exhausted to take a week for it. What I tried to do was target problems with the highest rate of return: I focused on issues that would be the most problematic, but shifted away from the most time-consuming testing (like doing complete runs at the end of work). So there's a chance that a whole series of well-tested sequences are broken because I missed a map transition or something. And double checking the illustrations? Forget it.

There are some known trivial issues, such as some garbage-looking tiles or special effects occasionally being on the wrong layer. Some I know how to deal with and they're just unpleasant and/or time-consuming. Others I'm a bit puzzled by, but they're harmless, so I focused on the core content.

If you prefer playing polished updates once, I definitely suggest waiting. I'll also take an unusual step and ask something else: if you don't have any sense for how these updates work, please wait. If a leftover testing NPC is going to confuse you and make you feel the update is broken, we would both have a better time waiting until a polished build.

For those playing: this update branches in lots of ways, which is both blessing and curse. So many variants means that it's more likely that certain combinations lead to a dead end (or simply don't flow properly). Fortunately, you should also be able to keep playing on a different branch, if it takes me a while to get out a hotfix. When reporting bugs, please be clear about the exact circumstances.

I hope this update is in okay shape and that everyone has a good time with it. If there are a lot of issues, please be constructive.

And so comes to brutal european dillema: Do i play the update now, irresponsibly late at night? Or do I go to sleep knowing that I could be playing the new TLS update instead. The hardest game decisions are made outside of the pc-screen lol

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH. I've been refreshing all day for this! Time to play! I mean, sure, it'll probably be a bit of a buggy mess, but that just means we can explore alternate routes while you clean up later. Side note: Any ETA on OEA 1.0? Wondering if there's any new content planned or if it's all just maps and the like. Thinking about another run through to try and actually see a 'True' Ending.

Grim8P

Congrats! I am going to give it a go and will reply later with any feedback.

Aria

I'll go ahead and do a playthrough and let you know if I manage to spot any mismatched switches/events <3 Get some rest if you can D:

Decanter

Just going to say to anyone reading this: Might want to be careful about headphones when you start the new content, because there's new music that plays much louder than anything else in the game.

Zaq Reman

Definitely get some sleep, I think the last thing any of us want is you burning out with the finish line in sight.

Aria

Took about an hour to do the update, (Fleet Route) Only thing I noticed that was off aside from what someone mentioned earlier was that the evlen mage (Agnostic Deck > 047 > Page 3) has a chat line that scrolls down to far. Considering that's the only issue I noticed, dam, good job XD Also, Tower Knot, top left, Seems like a comment event for the map maker was left in. (Tanurak's sprite is floating)

WaxerRed

Firstly congrats on getting past that finish line, if I had a bucket of Gatorade we'd be pouring it on you and awarding medals of diligence! I just finished (my first of many I assume) playthrough of the update! And it was such a heart pounder! Never before has an update given me such stress! (Spoilers below to any who have yet to finish, ye be warned!) Firstly I was so scared when Trin did the thing to the person! (You all know what I mean!) I nearly swallowed my tongue! But even still...I remembered what she said about trusting her and did! It paid off too! I don't know what happens in playthroughs with lower Trin RP, and I'm sure I want to find out! The update also had a lot of fun moments dotted around the chaos, such as Dari and Sabitha's conversation. I love their little cannibal bond! Yay eating other people! Other then that there is all the main story stuff that happens at the end...but I'm not sure I'm mentally prepared to unpack all that. Especially the end of...a certain favorite character! Why fate!!!? Bugs I found were minor and are more akin to typos. Elf immigrant on the airship has an overflowing line, the one that goes "...help reinforce certain anti-sexual spells..." I sent the team of Carina, Robin, and Varia off to do their thing. However when attack the LOBs base, they'd often have dialogue as if they were there. One after beating the cannon, and one after checking the door where Measten had looted the locked room. An amusing typo when first seeing the crystals pop up Riala has the line "Riala activated them after an initial attempt at a magical blast..." A typo from Orcent. "The Empress also dealt "Havy" losses to the enemy fleet, leading to their retreat." (Sweet Rhyme by the way.) Some bugs with the Mestan and Lilith fight. I went after Lilith first (I don't want to hurt you Mestan!) but even though she had dialogue saying she needed to sit out, she does not in fact sit out and continues to do her thing. Speaking of Lilith some of her status affects never go away even after the fight. Nothingness and the rainbow colored one. Speaking of status affects, Vhala's unperson shield did not seem to be blocking lust stun from the enemy succubus's. But I only recalled it happening once. Overall an amazing update, please take a nap and take care of yourself you've earned it!

Najal

Damn you got me good with that section.

Edward Culham

I felt like the update was really good as well, though if something felt off I would say that it was the multiple fights with the flame lord. Each time, would feel that it was just at the time when it would be the best time to kill several others to knock them off the board but forced into either giving a treaty or letting them run away.

Jeffrey Lebowski

Holy damn this was an awesome update! I've only played through it once so far so I'm looking forward to figuring out what some of the branching looks like. I know you don't emphasize the music choice very heavily but the track you chose to usher in the update was really jarring and unsettling which fit the events. Thank you for all your hard work!

God Damn, this was a banger from start till finish. Definitely in the top 5 of greatest updates. I literally sat at the edge of my seat for long periods at a time. I'll try to restrain myself to commenting on stuff that I've yet to see others talk about: -The music was bangin'. Loved the theme used during the airship battles, but it might be juuust a bit too loud compared to the rest of the game. -The airship battle was very fun, I loved the aesthetic of The Agnostic moving through the air -The lilith/Mestan boss fight was also a highlight, and I love Liliths way of inflicting status effects not seen since forever. It suited her character very well. The only problem is that some of these status effects stick around after the fight, like a splinter under your nail, and handicaps the team used in the fight. Don't know if it was intentional but it was a bit annoying. -It might just be me, but I felt like i accidently skipped through a lot of decisions, on account of me reading fast. My finger's muscle memory seems certain that it usually took one click to make the rest of the pre-choice dialogue appear on screen, and a second click to make the choice. In this update it felt like 1 button press did both, leading to me accidently skipping through important choices while speedreading, like how to handle LoB after being thrown into the tower, after fighting him. -Tanurak is floating in the NW corner of the Tower map. Don't know if it's intentional or if he is supposed to speak, or merely observe.. . But he is there -Trin's "gambit" was of the hardest hitting moments of the game for me, and the emotional reward for trusting her despite it all, and the payoff was great. Great writing! Felt a bit physically sick after the "thing" happened, but that may just be aftereffects my covid-vaccine yesterday ;) -The ending was one amazing revelation after another, and each one had a ton of impact. If the rival of Xerces is who I think it is, then I am absolutely stoked about it. One moment that I felt like didn't hit as hard as it should though, is the end of a certain bisexual mystery man. Don't get me wrong, his final lines of dialogue on how ridiculous effects that orientation had on the story is great. But I felt like I barely got to pause and absorb the fact that a guy who had been along for the journey for so long was dying, because of everything else going on at the same time. Idk I'm no writer, but maybe stretch out those last seconds a bit more, add some blood on the ground and/or change the music for the scene to something sadder than Tower "bwooooms"? It's not necessary for the story, but I think it's a scene which could benefit from a bit of additional melodrama All in all, stunning update. Can't wait for the second half of this two-parter

Runcible Technician

Lol, since when has Reletima had a relationship value? This was a great update, I had to swing the bludgeon and use a lot of potions to push through the fights blind but I made it after a few attempts. Picking the right matchups for that 4 party thing was like playing Rock Paper Scissors, but in a good way, mostly because I love lamias. So, losing sleep to get this out? Suddenly the ability to finish multiple novels, work on several games simultaneously and handle all the e-mails and marketing involved in all this makes sense. Having no insight into an author's life is a strange thing, I've always felt that death of the author was a healthier way to approach stories you hear and read so that you can appreciate the work for it's own sake, but when I see a bibliography dozens of novels deep I can't help but be reminded of an anecdotal tale I heard about a mystery novelist who was both prolific and weird in how he wrote, apparently working for an exact amount of time each day, stopping his typing even midword to go to his day job, returning and picking right back up where he left off. Then when he was done with a novel he wouldn't even wait a minute before putting more paper in the typewriter and immediately starting the next one. I guess this is a convoluted way of saying that if this workload works for you, keep it up, but if you really need a break, take it. I mean, if you really wanted to make it big, start a religion right?

Darthjake

Dang, at least I'm only a day late, I'll download and see what I can see, but based on the comments, it sounds like business as usual for your update.

Mycroft

I cannot wait, but I will. Please, rest as much as you need. Thank you for this great update.

The last time I played your game it was completely wiki-playthrough to get the best results possible (from my point of view of course) I felt like all-knowing Incubus King then ;) and now I feel like just ... Simon (which coincidentally is also my real name) - but seriously, great job with this update. Now rest and no BUTTS :p

werewindle

I defintiely couldn't play it yesterday due to timezones, but damn, good thing I rested and got full lucid experience, this was a wild ride. Trin's subversion I could see through immediately, that was completely in line with her acting so far, but the Xerces surprise and H*****'s (you don't need to confirm wink wink) response was a great and unexpected cliffhanger. I'd say you should add a savepoint in the middle of the initial air battle stretch, there are a lot of decisions made sandwiching some filler battles, and redoing the entire segment was annoying, particularly when i started fast-forwarding texts and would confirm the first strategic option by mistake. Welp, time to redo the last 10 minutes! I have to say I was impressed by the difficulty of this update. The battles weren't too hard per se, but the most efficient strategy was spell spam, which meant some serious mana management. Is that redundant spelling? Anyway, it was interesting to play with the "janitor" characters like Altina and Uyae for most of the time and saving the boss breakers for the big fights. I even cleaved through the Lord of Blood's island with Yarra/Nalili/Riala, that was a fun lineup. Speaking of, the cannon battle seems like it can break. The first time I encountered it, the cannon didn't explode after going off, so it started recharging again and wiped out my banged up party, heh. The Mestan fight was probably the biggest showstopper for me, because Lilith kept incapacitating my vital characters with perm effects (nothingness?), you can easily get a game over via bad luck there. It gets even worse if Varia decides to target Lilith 6 rounds in a row, that made me swear out loud, heh. Now I need to start planning another build strategy so I can finally pay for the Givini mage tower. When they couldn't down Fuzkao's airship, that felt like a silent judgment. Anyway, probably the best update in a long time!

Posting this as a separate comment to catch people's attention: I've created quieter versions of the new music tracks with seamless looping. If you're one of the people who found them too loud previously, I'd appreciate feedback on whether these are more in line with the levels you'd expect. To install, you can drop the files into the BGM folder and delete the .wav versions. https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ncjxph75x814jv/IW%20Intense.ogg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/sq414fps74s8aio/IW%20Tanurak.ogg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/qroqdhfth1odpax/IW%20Mithyn%20Dungeon.ogg?dl=0 https://www.dropbox.com/s/9ffllpkbceyy4y6/IW%20Airships.ogg?dl=0 @Sierra: I also created a .ogg version of the new Stineford Farm track, since I hadn't noticed you'd added it in .wav format. Feel free to contact me whenever you have a .wav file you want to use, and I'll get it converted to .ogg (.wav files are uncompressed, so take up a lot more disk space / bandwidth). https://www.dropbox.com/s/onxrtyx54dzb6ej/Stineford%20Farm%20II.ogg?dl=0

First playthrough done. Need to redo one with some strategic reloads to see what are (some of) the other outcomes. For now with a half-optimized save (optimized until some points in late Chapter 4 then free flowing with a bunch of likely questionable decisions in Chapter 5), I've reached a lot of mild comments on my army situation, an uncooperative lord of Blood and the "divinity of destruction/heterosexuality ruins everything" ending. Only Trin truly didn't falter. Quick off the cuff bug report: There's some inaccessible chest behind a candelabra in Tanurak's prison, near the armored fire monkey king (and this has likely be reported several times already). Likely on purpose, but I still dunno if the Lilith fight is a boon or a bane since she casts a permanent MP recovery status effects on characters that likely need it at this point. As for more in-depth comments, will wait for after my second attempt as this update is a lot to take in. But it's undeniably great.

I've completed one run-through; not sure which path(s) I took, since I'm not sure where the branching points are yet. I'll try and find more paths with the .1 release. As usual, heavy spoilers ahead, on the off-chance that someone hasn't learned by now not to look at these threads before playing! This was easily one of the best sections of the game. It really felt like we were just hanging on, stopping everything from getting completely out of hand, but then the gutpunch at the end looks like it's going to make things very interesting. Looking forward to seeing how the party gets on without Simon, and how he'll manage on his own. Also looking forward to exploring all the other bits of this update I haven't seen yet.

DukeLeto7

So I can't speak for Fulminato, but if you were counting on me to make a crack of the update's logic this weekend for the wiki crowd, I think I'm going to disappoint. (Other commitments, and I didn't get a chance to get into the release until early in the morning.) We'll see what I can put together, but it's entirely likely that if Fulminato don't preempt me, it ain't happening until later in the week.

logan80

I'm not sure if I can ask about it here but I will try - Sierra, what is the maximum Victory Points score that can be obtained in this update? Of course, I'm not asking how to get it, I just want to know if my choices are the best they can be (this is for my "pure" playthrough) By the way, I don't know if anyone has ever praised you for it, but your game is one of the easiest if it comes to editing save files ;p

Rachnera

New attempt, with some changed decisions (and an emergency purchase of airship militarization just before starting the event). Went the "melee an airship" route this time for far better results overall... except regarding that poor Mestan. Update is clearly impressive, with a lot of variant scenes hidden behind each option, even some looking like simple "gain some score points behind the screen" at first glance (for example I didn't expect to see Esthera and Mestan teaming up on fire monkey, just to see less airships on the map eventually). If there is a way to defeat Lilith without hurting Mestan, I have yet to find it. This looks like a puzzle fight but none of Simon's domination or Ginata's bond-slaying techniques appear to do anything special. Might be overthinking it, and the solution simply be to get a high enough score into something for the pool nearby not to be corrupted (I also don't remember my gathering choices, so maybe I forgot to talk to Mestan here and I'm paying the price now). Didn't look at variables under the hood so no exact idea about balance. My only real critic is that they might be a bit too many roaming enemies. Especially in the palace at the very end, when time is of essence, it's a bit rhythm-breaking to have to fight a blue flame enemy that's in the way in-between two Incubus Kings. But except for that, it's truly incredible work. Congratulations.

Iijil

Great update, I'm having a lot of fun with it. I spent my weekend playing through all the different branches. :) I took some notes on typos and bugs I noticed that weren't mentioned in other comments. I'll make sure they are readable and then post them.

Can't really write that much this time but i felt the need to comment due to how incredibly rewarding and challenging the update felt. This has probably been the toughest challenge to date with exception of the secret dungeon. A lot of decisions to make with real weight behind them. Almost immediate feedback among the chaos of the situation. Answers for things that felt odd like the abandonment of Xestris by the Anak. Long term plans and a full on escalation of tensions up to a condensed war segment. The elaboration of Trin's decission and the choice to end her or not was a blast. It was well worth the wait. The last section with the 4 groups was pretty fun. Trying to figure out right compositions and the satisfaction of acing the combats with only 3 members was super fun. And realizing how far the party has come. Last incubus king required many group fights to defeat. This one could be defeated by a mere subteam at first and a quick fight for his powered up mode. The mestan fight was chaotic as i think was planned. I got greedy at first and tried to farm positive buffs, since they seemed to last forever. ended up having the tables turned on me 2 times because of that. Felt good to have this guy turn my strategy around on me, debuffing me all the way. Still, he could haave used a healer. Don't think positive or negative buffs are meant to last after combat, are they? RIP the prince of the depths, or whatever it was. I understand why it took longer and the headache that must have been to wait for the maps to be done. Jumping from map to map was a lot of fun. Don't know if the section in tanurak's trap "the knot"was meant to have uninteractable npcs. Saw ulrissa hanging out and tried to interact with her with no answer whatsoever. It's a privilege to get to see the unfolding of the story in a masterful way. Looking forward to the end of the game and it's story. After having Miura die on us and knowing my favorite fiction work will remain forever unfinished i have to admit i was feeling uneasy about the future of TLS. Glad to see it was nothing more than undue worries. Ran into a glitch checking out Elleanii in the last message screen. I had to race through the content but i think i'll play through it some times just for fun and check all of the possible scenarios. This might be my favorite update ever. You've certainly outdone yourself this time. Thank you for such a great piece of work.

WaxerRed

Just want to note that I really appreciate The Empress Sabitha's and Wendis's contributions in this update! It's among the worse tropes for extremely powerful characters to get nerfed or suddenly take a back seat once they join the Protagonist's team, however it was not the case with these 3 who all really showed off their power in this update!

Fulminato

ok i write a comment but it seem patreon eat it. so i rewrite it. I write down the math, but I not rolled the number (yet). so no comment on balance (yet) but some thing i think are mistake or something falling between the crack 1) sabitha+orilise in muthyn insland in mithyn path it's aready reported 2) in the tower knot map when you approach fuzkao there is a branched dialogue if you complete his investigation during the gathering about his armor, that branch had a Inv Fuzkao -1 (variable #0365) i think should be IW_Fuzkao -1 (variable #0387) 3) in the victory point resolution just arriving to the mithyn island aftet the knot map (event EV062 position 0,0) xestris rp gain for the 20+ branch is +5, but in the other branch it's follow cohesion/sabitha/tertia pattern, if it isn't intentional in 20+ brianch should be +3 4) Fuzkao early death is exclusive for the weak path, because you cannot give sabitha fuzkao target in the strong path, so the chest contain the "purified lingerie" are nearly unobtainable, because the "path +" is hard to hit in the weak path (my impression, i need to roll the number for be truly sure) and the chest is damaged automaticaly when you trigger fuzkao fight 5) The problem with the conditions lilth applied are limited to "deprived II" and "Relaxed". both of them don't have any timed duration, one solution can be duplicate the condition and add a fixed duration, and put in the skill that condition. because relaxed is a powerful bonus, i deliberatly stalled the fight until all the team was effected, no much fight after, but it's still an exploit. 6) In the Lord of Blood branch lack of any bonus granted by givini mage guild + elleani maxed, present in the other two branch (or i miss it), i think something can be added, even if no math is involved. a little feedback on trin death, i think is a bit to extreme for the game. never the life of an harem meber was realy at stake, even hilstara during the war, she can be letteral maimed in the pass battle, but shenever risk to go gone. perhaps a similar outcome can be done for trin, she lose her ability to manage copies (if it will be a factor in the future to manage), with other injuries or similar problem, but not dead. expecialy because the road to save her don't leave room for error (the striciest request is the ritual during the second gathering, the other two are fine in my opinion)

Andrei Bucur

This felt like those old timey movie series.. >>Stay tuned Next Week<< or in this case >>Stay tuned in the next Update<< Like WTF?

Andrei Bucur

This actually made me do this: >>Email me when you're done with the entire game and I'll BUY IT<< Because I'm ending my subscribtion today.

I have two saves. One is super optimized. And the game was pretty challenging with that one. And a not optimized save, where I let go quite a bit of the characters. I noticed I had to do a lot mmore fights in the second one. And I was unable to finish it without cheating FIghts were tooo hard. Or I just failed too much. Several bugs. 1. After fighting the lord of blood I see 2 copies of him. https://imgur.com/vGtryqA 2. In the goddess palace after the fake healing pool I can walk on water and enter textures. Amazing update. I can't wait to see all the possible branching happening and try to see what is the optimal path.

Adison

So finally downloaded and finished my first try at this update. Wow it felt just right. People have already pointed out most of the errors I noticed. I will be giving this another playthrough at that point as one of my favorite spots.

Q-Riff

Regarding the Mestan/Lilith fight you can get the deprived condition and it stick around after the fight, very annoying. I mean you can also get the refreshed condition but....

TheDingusPatrol

So, I finally got around to the new content (I play the game all the way through each major update.) and noticed something in the tanurak/Trin fight. Tanurak isn't immune to deathblow. So he just... instantly died for me

Just giving my thoughts on a mechanic I like: With the "party members have to go stop the bombing" mechanic, the player was able to prevent/devalue the use of certain party members for segments of this update, the most significant of which being Varia, who is an absolute monster when appropriately used alongside people who can heal, buff her and soften the enemy. To be clear, I LOVE Varia mechanically and as character, BUT I also like this idea of the game giving you the option of giving up more optimal combat parties in exchange for other advantages. I also love that it makes sense within the context of the story: After learning they need to hunt down and kill dangerous enemies as fast as possible to prevent civilian causalities, Robin immediately goes "well, obviously I need HER." I think in the future, this mechanic should definitely be used again. The inverse might even be a good idea: An option to go into combat with a pre-determined party that will have a tougher time of it. Or maybe give the option of sending three or even only two people to a series of combats, rather than four, in return for bonuses. Obviously the game has already experimented with splitting up the party many times and it has worked pretty well. But generally going in with a suboptimal/smaller party is something you do to save heavy hitters for somewhere else, not for direct bonuses. Anyway, food for thought!

theres a bug where the scene in the givini basement with aka happens, the image doesnt go away and u can move around but even if u change floor it still stays there
