EDIT: I've added a new version, not final but intended to cover all reported issues. I want this to give people a chance to examine the changes before the public release, but further changes are possible.

0.57.2: https://mega.nz/file/2gFmmRpS#QXXDxmLLNpTg9BBUnOyHuf7PQA9cKv9IQI4y0v1sRO8

This is a QoL release for those waiting, not final balance. It has a lot of bugfixes and polishing, including making several events/paths accessible that were previously impossible (or highly improbable) to reach. For example, if you got sick of Fuzkao, try ganging up on him early.

TLS 0.57.1

 - Bugfixing and polishing

 - Improved visual and audio assets thanks to Lamsey and Decanter

TLS 0.57.2

 - Balance and additional polishing.

The goal is to have the public release be next Friday, at which time we'll hopefully have considered balance more deeply. This build should be pretty stable, barring newly introduced errors, but I reserve the right to change balance through the end of the big war event.

Otherwise, not a lot to say. Expect a standard update this Sunday.

If I play this version, and the balance is adjusted in the public release, will I need to go back and replay it for forward compatibility?

If you have Sabitha target the armies she will now show up twice in the LoB branch. After talking with her on Lord of Blood's Island, she is suddenly on top of an airship in the next cutscene. The event at 8/15 still checks the Sabitha LoB switch instead of Sabitha Armies when deciding if the player should be teleported to the Sabitha airship scene.

I will play it and tell you my thoughts ^.^

Just wanted to report 1 bug that you may already be aware of. Iris' quest becomes available in the first free roam before the second gathering, while 2 of the shops she needs to visit are in Rodak and the OE. This normally wouldn't strike me as much of an issue except that a) Iris can be waiting around the Extradimensional HQ wanting to talk about clothes during Ginasta's recruitment scene and leadup to the second Gathering and B) when Riala's team goes to the OE during the Gathering, Iris can be found in the clothing store and have a conversation with characters that are not supposed to be present. Just thought you should know and I'm looking forward to trying this rebalance and the final one later!

OK, I've been looking at Fulminato's working notes, and the it looks to me like the IW_Nyst checks are either too demanding or there needs to be more IW_Nyst reduction available prior to getting to Mithyn's Island. The first check has a threshold of less than 5 to avoid setting the [Nyst Demons] switch On. If I'm reading this right that can only happen on the Weak/Mithyn Path. The check less than 3 for +5 Mithyn RP is just impossible. I can see the lack of [Nyst Demons] being a consolation prize for going through Weak/Mithyn path, but the RP threshold probably ought to be less than 4.

I got a question .. Is the wiki for this game basically abandoned?

SL, there's a comment in the gamecode when the player can choose to dispatch Robin & Co after the airships trying to bomb New Givini that says you wanted to make the XP they received comparable to that earned by the main party on its various paths, but basically didn't have time to figure that out. Since one of your loyal patrons is a lunatic who made a database extraction tool, it was pretty easy for me to generate an XP count for the various paths, and here it is, itemized by troops encountered on the way, so you should be able to spot if I missed a well hidden wandering monster group. Lord of Blood Branch Misc LoB 1 8505 XP Lord of Blood Island 017,042 Misc LoB 2 9192 XP Lord of Blood Island 032,029 Cannon Boss 18590 XP Lord of Blood Island 035,017 Blood Orc 112 XP Lord of Blood Island 025,015 Misc LoB 3 8891 XP Lord of Blood Island 015,017 Misc LoB 4 8073 XP Lord of Blood Island 012,007 Blood Underlord, Blood Brute, Blood Reap (opened by Sabitha) 8934 XP Lord of Blood Island 013,034 Sum 53363 OR 62297 XP Both fleet branches have all mandatory fights. Fleet Branch Agnostic Misc LoB 1 8505 XP Misc LoB 3 8891 XP Lethargic Ogres 14997 XP Lamia + Demons 10105 XP OR Lamia + Others 9972 XP Airship + Succubi 25995 XP Sum 68493 OR 68360 XP Fleet Branch Minor Misc LoB 2 9192 XP Misc LoB 4 8073 XP Charged Succubi 19995 XP Airship + Ogre 24996 XP Sum 62256 XP Mithyn Branch Fleet Succubi 1 6994 XP Agnostic Deck, 003,000 Mixed 1 8120 XP Agnostic Deck, 003,000 Fleet Succubi 1 6994 XP Mithyn's Island 018,050 Flesh Manifest*2, Blood Manifest, Diseas 5506 XP Mithyn's Island 012,038 Misc LoB 2 9192 XP Mithyn's Island 008,023 Muscle Manifest*2, Blood Manifest*2 5892 XP Mithyn's Island 016,008 Misc LoB 4 8073 XP Mithyn's Island 011,002 (The Door) Mestan + Lilith (Or Pooling Demon? Or can you not kill either of them? I'm confused...) 9999 XP? 19999 XP? 29998 XP? (Only if Mestan was protected from Lilith back at the LL statues fight.) Sum 50771 XP or ???? So it looks like the easy answer is "about 50-65k". Or you could make the XP bonus to Robin's group variable by path when they return to the party. Note also that it would be easy to bring the XP from the Mithyn branch into parity with the the other branches by adding another wandering monster troop. (It is very possible that I missed a fight in that section though.) Hope this helps! (EDITED for coordinates.)

>I reserve the right to change balance through the end of the big war event. And 0.57 doesn't actually conclude the big war event, right? There's more big war event in 0.58, so you reserve the right to change balance thru then?

Fulminato has released the spreadsheet, and while I'm still too swarmed in numbers to truly estimate balance, I feel like the general idea seems to be "Stats or Trinkets". There are several times where you choices appear to grant you more points at the cost of losing a chest. Not sure if that means that: 1. The trinkets are secret achievements, as is, in a "perfect run" you can get several or all of them without sacrificing the end result, while in a less good run you have to let them go. 2. The trinkets are supposed to be powerful enough to make deciding between them and a better story result an actual choice. 3. One or more trinkets are actually future stats in disguise (we remember the Old Ribbon Sierra). If it's 2, I feel like the spreasheet people won't ever touch the trinkets, even if one of them was a 100% resistance to everything armor +999 Phy/Mag Defense.

ok, i run the numbers the pastebin contain a recap of the run i evaluate, with a detailed pastebin for each one. i start with my best playthrough stats, but no much of previous investment/hidden score/ choice matters, so should be a enough "blanket" for a strong save. perhaps in the next days can evaluate the bottom part of the balance (the weak path) Recap Pastebin: https://pastebin.com/gtDpduGa i don't have take in account the different loots the various branchs allow you to plunder, i'm focused only on the math. 1) It's impossibile bring IW_Nyst below 6 in the main calculation after tower knot map, so he will alwasy summon demons. the possibility to reduce his (or its) variable are very, very scarce. you are basicaly forced to take them all or you will never be able to reduce it. 2) Sabitha - Helper cut-scene/banter isn't present in every branching, it's intentional? because i don't find a clear reason for this. (Deatails of Sabitha Appearance based on the other factor https://pastebin.com/fWHiKyK7) 3) Noted by Agumentic in the forum, if you keep part of the fleet in reserve ([#4163|Airship Reserve]) you will be hit alwasy with IW_AirCasualty +2 after the first Nyst attack, based on hilstara comment [War Map, Event EV032, position 1,0] the [#4169|Tower Reserve] On branch should have the numbers swapped ([#4163|Airship Reserve] On: IW_AirCasualty +1 /[#4163|Airship Reserve] Off: IW_AirCasualty +2 not [#4163|Airship Reserve] On: IW_AirCasualty +2 /[#4163|Airship Reserve] Off: IW_AirCasualty +1) 4) there is a IW_VP change at the door of mithyn temple, but the main resolution of that variable is before, when you reach the island after the knot. if that variable is planed for other use in the future it's ok, otherwise that branch option is useless [outside waste a player choice]. 5) It's impossibile reach the best mestan rp treshold if you don't help him in the node fight, but i think is ok/intended. 6) i'm not delve in suboptimal start for the moment, but how much apocalyptic should be the wrost case scenario? in math term. i mean. 7) i'm a collector, different loot for different choice hurt my essence :°°

Some more remarks on hidden variables: The Battlescore check at the end is a bit weird in general. While it's a check that you probably want to not be too difficult (so more players have the choice of their strategy at the end instead of being forced into the "rush" one), in top of the already reported "Nyst always summons demons" issue, it: 1. Is conditioned almost entirely by the Fleetsize variable due to its huge 4-points swing (out of a 6 points-total to reach). If your ships are all gone, it's more or less impossible to pass (you need perfect everywhere else, which I'm not sure is even possible if you're on a "high casualties" or "few airships" route), while still having a few (militarized) airships around means even meh results in all other categories is good enough. 2. Has a strange-looking check that requires Fuzkao Unchecked Off + IW_Fuzkao 7-. However, except for some Sabitha fallback path, having Fuzkao Unchecked Off means having assigned Esthera/Mestan/Sabitha to deal with him, which also comes with a IW_Fuzkao-2. So you just need to find a single more point somewhere to pass the check fully, meaning it will be an autopass with any other anti-Fuzkao action, past or present (having examined his armor at the Gathering, having invested in the Givini Mage Guild regardless of Givine country score, having assigned a second person to deal with Fuzako etc.). A complex point: While it's likely most players will only have 3 to 5 Airship Counters because money don't usually grow on tree (equivalent to a last minute Chapter 4 or early Chapter 5 investment in them), and the balance of the airship casualties seem good in that regard, there are optimized routes that start with 8-9 (Fulminato is playing with one for instance), in which case they basically have infinite airship reserves and won't ever be bothered with casualties. It's a bit evil, but one way to compensate for that would be to have some checks harder if the player has a ton of airship counters, on the pretense Simon accidentally launched an arms race by showing up his interest in combat airships too early.

Deep ethical question: Have there been any changes to the builds of enemies/troops in 0.57.2?

WaxerRed

Sorry if this comes FAR to late, but wanted to just shoot some suggestions on the IW, though I understand if I missed the window! I was surprised reading Fulminato's spreadsheet just how many characters approved of Simon not having sex with the captured succubus's, Ginasta is the one to suggest the other method and even she says it would be "painful and unwanted" by the succubus. All dialogue seems to push players towards the 'for sex' choice, so perhaps a few dialogue boxes for the 'against sex' group could help? Somethings like Aka- "Do you really want to be caught with your pants down if another Incubus King launches a surprise attack?" Robin- "Our situation is changing moment to moment, I don't think dividing your focus is wise." The next two suggestions would be for the Nyst who is the most difficult to have his score lowered. It in no way hinders the game right now, but I'll say these in case you want to give players a bit more wiggle room with him, as right now I don't think you can lower him more then 5. Demonic research coming into play somewhere? His force is said to be made up of pure demons. Perhaps if the Empress is on "Defend Fleet" she is able to stop his initial hit and run? Lastly, just a small oddity, but it just seems odd for players to miss out on the Sabitha/Dari scene if they send her to deal with Fuzkao and then do the LoB island!

I'm playing later than most, but I haven't seen anyone mention this so far, so- In the waiting room of the last update, I'm getting a relationship point score for, uh... Reletima? Who is... not really who I was expecting to have added to the harem at this point in the game. Unsurprisingly, she's not listed in the harem lineup, but I'm wondering if this is a bug, or a joke or something. If it was a joke, I'd expect the timing to be different.
