The new version is finally out! Download and version notes here:

https://the-last-sovereign.blogspot.com/2021/08/tls-0573-public-release.html

Though I reserve the right to make modifications as the war event evolves, in particular if any problems or omissions show up, I intend this to be the core version of this update. It has a lot of content on various branching paths, so I hope that everyone enjoys. ^-^

In other news, I've seen some confusion, so I wanted to remind people that the wiki for TLS can be found here:

https://thelastsovereign.miraheze.org/wiki/The_Last_Sovereign_Wiki

The community has migrated from the old site, so if you want up-to-date information and guides, check the above link. I hope this update feels enjoyable chaotic to play blind, but if you prefer to chart all variables, they've put in a lot of effort mapping this one.

That's all for now. This is a pretty busy weekend for me, so expect a hefty patron update later.

Congratulations on the release of TLS 0.57.3. Great update and thanks for sharing the helpful links!

Jeffrey Lebowski

We didn't directly see her get zapped, and none of the others mentioned her being missing because they were too focused on Simon. but is it safe to assume that Esthera has also been zooped into the Tower prison?

BleBle

It is said, that all Incubus King were teletransported to the prison. So yes. Unless Esthera is an Incubus Queen and the future qum dont give a damn about Incubus Queen.

sierralee

It's a question I intended players to be asking.

Seriathus

Hoo boy it's out! I need to play this.

logan80

During my last playthrough I looked a little more closely at this mysterious figure that kidnapped all the incubus kings. Although we can only see the shape of her figure, it seems quite familiar. From the beginning, this lady seemed to be hiding something and I had the impression that we only saw the mask that she wanted to show us. Of course I might be wrong or Sierra is trying to deceive us somehow ;)

WaxerRed

Clearly it is Simon's neighbor. All those attempts to seduce him, they were all part of her schemes and plots!

Darthjake

Is it bad that when Iris said we needed a magical silk, I immediately thought of those *@#! Spiders in Stineford?

sierralee

Haha, that's pretty much the reaction I hoped players would have.

Darthjake

Okay, so Patreon would probably ban me if I posted my comments on the Mestan/Lilith fight, but seriously....

sierralee

Sorry if it's obnoxious. If you have status protection items on everyone, the unblockable bad effect is only 10% chance, but that doesn't keep you from getting bad luck.

Darthjake

I thought I had status protections, barrier pins, etc, but the first time I think it was just bad luck, the 2nd time I focused on Lilith, that was my bad. The third time I spammed help allies, and had Aka and Varia pound Mestan down. I guess I should have added a 3rd bruiser, but I kept hoping that Carina could do something.

Time for a replay, but man. Side note - no way to avoid that permanent loss against the Anak? (Unsure of how much spoilers should be said)

Jeffrey Lebowski

There seems to be another positive benefit to allowing Estaven to be tortured with a + to Mithyn's RP (according to Fulminato's notes at least), which leads me to ask: will we continue to see consequences for that decision and will any of those consequences be negative? When the decision first appeared, it struck me as one that would have a lot of short term relationship benefits due to the catharsis multiple characters would feel, but would end up ultimately corrupting Simon's character (as he has stated several times in different ways that he is scared of abusing his power, especially in the Orcent conversation where he expresses the caution he approaches all his decisions with since "the worst he can do" is now cataclysmic). I also thought it would end up worrying any characters that are concerned with Simon's morals (Ginasta might take it as a sign of cruelty that could truly make Simon a tyrant, and I expected the goddesses to be especially wary of any signs of toxic or cruel behavior from Simon given the potential influence he has over them). Now Mithyn liking this decision makes total sense because of her "thousand years of hatred" and all, but it just brought these questions I've had back to the fore of my mind and wanted to ask about any possible future ramifications. Thanks so much! Oh, and also I am absolutely crushed about Mestan. He's had an RP score since chapter 2, and yet I think this section has the only check of it in the game that I can remember. If Mestan's entire character was literally to set up for the joke he told at the end, then damn I got got.

Adison

I think I have an idea of who this steely mystery woman who showed uncanny knowledge, who has tapped the Church's goddess and looks to be centered in Ard.

Adison

Hit Enter early again. Anyone else noticed that Anak's little minion Incubus targeted two areas that indicate Goddess Presence. Funkao targeting where the Mother is most likely to be, and Nyst targeted Ard. Also if we remember back Ard has a history of Tower Walkers who are not Incubus or Goddess....

Adison

So this is only my second complete playthrough of this section of the War and it seems because of earlier choices I have made some choices are made for me. However I am not mad because they are the choices I would have made anyways. (I don't variate as much as I would like considering I play a bit completionist.) Still got to say this was an awesome section in which I think this last playthrough put me exactly in the position I want. I do wonder if I am missing out on eliminating Nyst or conquering the Island of the Lord of Blood because I continue to choose to dominate the air battle (Probably to exess.

Darthjake

About Estevan I was just so happy to say, "You are right, there are some people that I just can't save."

Jeffrey Lebowski

I know, right? The scene where you allow him to be tortured is metal as fuck, I thoroughly enjoyed it. But its not in my "canon" run

Darthjake

Personally, I'm wondering if I need to replay that to put troops in Ardford, but putting the troops in Givini land just made so much sense at the time, ah well, it's not like the harem is incompetent, they'll can take Ardford down to the Sx wards and Tyna will still be glad to see them. /joke :D

Adison

That is the thing we won't see where is the best place until next full update. But (Spoilers for those that don't know.) we do know each of the IK basically invade a different region. In my playthrough Givini is the least hit due to my choices. Large forces of mainly Orcs are heading to the Country of Orcs so yea... Fire troops are heading towards Elvish lands, and Demons are directed to Ard. Now since I killed Fire and LoB got smack to oblivion, only the demons had any real leadership, and places me in a good position to attack the church like Riala wants.

sierralee

The events will vary somewhat, but there's a permanent loss that happens on any path.

sierralee

I'm not sure how much to answer this. There are more consequences intended for the decision, but I don't know if you really want me to comment on my exact intentions with it. Regarding Mestan, his entire existence wasn't meant to be a joke (from a meta perspective, regardless of what he says). It was intended to be a painful emphasis of the swept aside consequences of this game's subgenre.

sierralee

There's a fair amount of variance in this section, but not knowing what you've played, I can't be sure what you might not have seen. Major elements are also set in stone.

Adison

Reserved Airships, Use Esthera to attack Island (Showed up on her own assuming because of maxed points), Used the Tower to protect my reserve, Had sex with the captured Succubi (I mean at this point it seems the way Simon should act to me. ), Sent Mestan against the Tower enemies, Didn't get to kill Fire IK until the thrid battle with him, Fleet Branch, Givini blast the LoB fleet, Used my Flagship, + Path, Fire IK loses his ships except his flag ship from the start as my allies keep showing up, Had really strong fleet also from having military Airships plus some from the queen friend and final version of that first country doing really well, Mestan stopped the bombing on his own, Sabathia/Dari sent after Fire IK and they frightened some LoB Orcs bonding over being little sharp teeth, (I feel with how this all played out I was somewhat surprised I didn't randomly had even more allies lol), I beat up both LoB (getting a temp truce) and Fire IK in the knotted Tower, Aka/Yarra take out a ship, I beat up a ship, Spared the Lamia, and was passive with the Goddess, She killed LoB and I scare off Nyst, she falls into Simons arms with a kiss.

Adison

oh and Wendis stopped Mister Subtle chaos from his little distractions, I didn't help Mestan this time ( debating if its worth a new go threw just to get that extra swing.)

Jeffrey Lebowski

Regarding Mestan, then I think it was executed brilliantly, because I've been thinking about that theme since talking to him in New Givini, but was completely caught off guard by having it brought home in such a dire way. I was fully invested in the budding friendship between Simon and Mestan, as Mestan is the only character that can really frustrate Simon in such a playful way and pull jokes out of him. The fact that he was a fully fleshed out character with a lot left to do made his death extremely shocking and painful. Regarding Estaven, I would definitely be interested in knowing your actual intentions Regarding that decision! I've also thought it might end up just being that showing mercy to absolute monsters isn't always a moral decision. I wouldn't want to ask you to share info that you don't want to reveal but I would definitely find it interesting

Darthjake

I held airships in reserve, had Esthera attack airships, anytime I could, I reinforced the Tower. I didn't get an option to spare a Lamia, maybe I missed that fight, hmmmmmm. I also sent Mestan after Tower enemies and when he said let him be, I did. Mestan stopped the bombing, and Wendis scared the cloak off of T and made him need to change his undies.

sierralee

I'm glad to hear that Mestan's death could land for you. It was meant to feel like a loss, not a piece being swept off the table. As for Estaven... you know, I'm going to leave full discussion for my eventual commentary. For now, I'll just say that it's meant to relate to the meta-morality of gaming.

WaxerRed

I don't give a shit how much Pron it costs, we are having Bi-Pride Parades in his honor every day for the rest of time!

Adison

Even with the bad effect if you have a decent healer in the party you can win the battle without to much trouble.

Jeffrey Lebowski

There's gonna be a commentary?! Well, I'll definitely look forward to that! For now, I think I'm gonna stick with my decision not to torture him pursuant of the philosophy that if I only made a moral decision because I expected to ultimately benefit, was it really a moral decision? Anyway, reading the datamine notes made me realize this update was even more complex in regards to consequences than I thought (a positive Trin outcome had a couple more requirements than I first thought, and I didn't know Fuzkao could survive the palace fight) and I love it! Will look forward to future updates regarding what the next section will look like. Are we doing a two pronged approach on the captured goddesses or focusing full effort on Ivala? (Rhetorical since I know the cliffhanger was intentional) And thanks for responding to my rambling comments! :D

SantaTheHutt

Absolutely marvelous job with Trin in this one. 😘👌 It's right up there with her missionary scene for best Trin scene to date.

Jeffrey Lebowski

Specifically, the sweet lost prince of the sunken continent *In the Arms of the Angel starts playing*

sierralee

I'm interested in doing a full replay of TLS after it's complete, in part to make potential additional improvements. I think it might be interesting to write a sort of developer's commentary, and people have seemed to like that idea. Hopefully it'll be a fun time... a bit later. ^-^

sierralee

Great to hear! This was her big moment, after all. ^-^

Adison

Trin has a better sense of Chaos than T does. Since T became a IK he is just a fairly subtle evil guy who wants destruction and in fighting. Lilith is perfect on the chaos spectrum with this ping ponging of ideas that float to her mind.

Adison

So replaying from the beginning to get a feel for the game again (And the excellent replay value.) and I realized some story things that I haven't seen revisited in awhile. Varia and her want of Chains, maybe seeing Altina pulling off some major magic (Riala and Robin stealing a lot of that kind of thing but she is supposed to be talented too.), Varia and her experience with explosives seems to have been limited use which is weird now that as Doom King in Chapter five we should be able to get/make more, And I haven't gotten that far again but our healing Monk with animal instincts hasn't shined that much since her country's arc. (Just some notes. Don't take these as bad or good things just some things my squirrel brain noticed on replay. ) Hadi is cute.

Reddy Bread

Is this public release any different then the original 0.57.0 patreon version you released? Cause im still playin 0.57.0 version and I just want to make sure im not behind on anything.
