Well, we're locked in. April 15. Technically I don't have to release on that date, if something went very wrong, but there are no advantages to delaying and it's better to meet your release promises.

I have tons of fanart coming in, enough that I don't want to dump it all at once. This week we have more renders from Runcible Technician: first a recreation of the recent Mithyn scene, then Fiyu from The Weirkey Chronicles. ^-^

Meanwhile, I've wrapped up a few other things. There was another art post for $10 backers and an overdue update to the art pack (now 1.7 GB, over 1000 images). I have been working on potential bugfix release for TLS, but it's dependent on some other factors. Not relevant to most players, but it will be good to squash some persistent problems.

I've also promised some patrons that I'd commission a bit of new pixel art for TLS. I contracted some people... and had them ghost me or refund and drop out. Getting reliable freelancers is such a pain. -_-

On the OEA front, I put out the final bug check. It's also uploaded to Steam, and I've contacted curators, though that always seems like a crapshoot. I've gotten decent boosts on occasion, but most don't seem to drive any traffic. Unlike previous releases, I'm getting a decent number of requests from curators I don't know, so that's hopefully a good sign.*

*Though I'm starting to get so many generic ones that I'm wondering if these aren't scammers who hope I'll email them keys. I've criticized Valve on various occasions, but let me say this: Curator Connect has definitely solved the problem of people spoofing email addresses to scam keys. I did get a review from a 25k curator, so I guess they're not all fake.

That's the last thing I can do before the release announcement, I think. If anybody has been a games journalist in hiding this entire time, let me know. Or if you have curators you follow or anyone else you think might be interested in OEA. Otherwise... see everybody Friday.

Well I look at games Nep has reviewed but all they say is Nep... nep... nep... :D

Christian Schmidt

Wow. I still have troubles to close my mouth in awe. It looks amazing.

sierralee

Yeah, they just review everything. Normally I think any promotion is good promotion, but I'm not sure that had any impact.

Runcible Technician

It's literally what I named it! (Edit: the scene In Daz studio, the image file was named different.)

Youve probably covered this on another answer, but how much (roughly) does one need to spend to get pixel art done for a game? Itd be hard to get any game off the ground in early access without any art, but also, I could see it being a money sink to get the art going when you dont even have a full game yet/concepts liable to change as the game develops

sierralee

It's difficult to answer this, because you can find pixel artists charging an order of magnitude difference in their base prices. That amount would be multiplied by the amount of art you actually need, which naturally varies considerably. I know that many Early Access games, like Dead Cells, launch with fairly simple pixel art and then later get more expensive art once they find financial success.

Hey Sierra, I had a question about TWC did you say the audio version was on Audible? If not what site can I find it?

DukeLeto7

Hey, guess what I've got for you to help celebrate OEA's release! Did you guess obscure and esoteric TLS bug report? Does that not fill your heart with joy? Well, too bad, because that is what I've got for you. In the Stineford ingredients glade map, on the Stineford Magic Point event at (015,005), the event code is missing the script code to update Stineford Magic Points quest status at the end of the event page. This quest script can be found in the common event 022 Stineford Magic Points. It looks like this is the only case where the Stineford Magic Points variable is not incremented by calling the common event.

DukeLeto7

And another one from another reporter. Someone managed to get both Hilstara and Varia knocked out in the boss battle with Riala, generating a stealth game over at the start of the Hilstara's last stand after the battle at the Bloody Spire. Not sure how you've been handling these, but be aware.

Reddy Bread

Awesome! now I got a few different options.

sierralee

Stineford Magic Points: So the variable increment should be removed and replaced with calling common event 22 at the bottom? Done. War: I don't recall how much attrition was supposed to be involved with that section, but it must be some if I didn't include a full party heal. If you tell me which map this is and which event first gives the player control, I'll give everyone 1 HP then.

DukeLeto7

Stineford Magic Points: No the common event contains lots of dialogue trees that usually deal with encountering the magic points, this one is different because it has the special dialogue related to orgy scene. Calling the common event would break the logical flow of dialogue related to the orgy. What you want to do is copy the script from the very end of the common event, which sets the quest objective to include the count of magic points you've found so far, and put that into the event at the ingredients glade after the variable is incremented. (I hope that makes sense.) War: Since the party is united for the Riala boss fight and gets a Recover All just before it, this has to be the fight where the reporter saw Hilstara and Varia get knocked out. (Third Arclent War/Ardoheim Events/Regional Map/Riala Location (000,000)) I think the best thing to do would just be to Remove State Defeat on the whole party after fight. (It doesn't look like it's possible for any of the other 3AW sections after the Riala fight to trigger such an endgame, but defensive programming is always a good policy.)

sierralee

Oh, so this is just about the quest log? I see how you were saying that before, now. Anyway, I can paste in the script command. Just adding a small heal after Riala makes sense enough to me. Done, thanks.

DukeLeto7

Thank you! Hope OEA sales kick ass!

DukeLeto7

And I am too scatterbrained to use Patreon correctly. That was supposed to be a response to your response. Before I forget, everyone who has reported using the PartySwitch patched test version has said it eliminated their problems, so we are waiting on Decanter getting a chance to look at the code revisions. I'm guessing that thisgamething is now studying for finals, (I think they mentioned being a student), but they haven't weighed in on whether the other tweaks to the Decanter: Saved Parties script fix the remaining issues they found with pressing W and the action button at the same time.

sierralee

No problem; I figured. And while I look forward to eventually putting out a build that takes care of that bug, this week will be hectic for me, so just as well it wraps up later.
